    cool video as always. I like that jig you made for the router that's smart right there. I think I need to figure out how to make a white mans drum as 'i think some around here may get a little touchy about me making one like that lol. will you be showing how to put the tops on that one as well?

    I was wondering if you could have cut the 2x4 in half and then so it was 1x4. So instead of using 6 2x4 you could use 3 2x4. Or would that make the wall to thin? I know that finished 2x4 are not 2x4. Was just wondering. Thanks for sharing :)

      After routering the outer perimeter it may be too thin, but worth a try.

    Would the 5 1/2 degree bevel work with a 1×4 instead of a 2×4?

    • @donaldporta
      @donaldporta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, you need the same number of slats

      @@donaldporta thank you very much... love the video... very informative, appreciate all of your knowledge... I'm going to be making the same frame... I don't think I can get to a router... so I'm thinking of using the 1x4... I am planning on starting a drum group for the youth.

      One more question:
      When cutting the edge bevel, the saw is tilted to 5 1/2 degrees. Cutting on both sides, the 2x4 is reduced to 2x3.
      How is this done? Is there a specific distance between the saw and the RIP fence?

    I just made my frame, did you have any problems with the glue not holding up?

      I'm worried when it dries it might crack under the weight but might just be overthinking it

    • @donaldporta
      @donaldporta  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      when the rawhide dries it draws tight on the frame, holding it tight and mine did not crack anywhere!

  • @bigshwayze

    Where did you get the rawhide so I can make my own drum

      Don’t know where he got his, but I get rawhide from Wanderbull and Tribal Spirit Music, don’t think either is open in person (covid), but both have online shopping.
