We found a 1905 coke bottle on Shackleford, near the cemetery. Funny thing is it was bottled in New Bern, home of Pepsi.

You can’t see Shackleford horses from this cruise.

Ft Macon is not a Civil war fort. It was antebellum.

Yes, constructed in the antebellum period, its first major military event was in the Civil War. For more information for those looking into the details there is a lot out there on the Fort. It was also used in WWII to attempt to spot German submarines.

There are no ponies on any of the islands there. Every one of them is a actual horse.

They are not ponies and they are not at Shackleford. It’s Carrot Island
OK I’ll redeem you ? The Rhum Bar Owners are my neighbors. Trace and Don are the greatest. Yeah they have amazing chowder. My fav is across the bridge in MHC

Yes they are and yes it is, I hope by the Title and the captions and the description calling them Horses it is clear to viewers they are horses although many call them ponies due to their stature, including many locals when I lived there, although they knew they are in fact horses who have a stature in hands that would fit in the pony category but are from Spanish horse breeds. Yes, the actual bank that is Shackleford itself is further out and not an easy place in which to paddle, when I lived there and had a sailboat I sailed to Shackleford a number of times. For those who do sail I highly highly recommend watching the tides carefully, there is a large tidal difference in these parts and you could easily find your boat aground in low tide and the high tides of the day are not equally high, have seen it many times...best to get a low draft boat if you are going to Shackleford, although it is much easier to see the horses at Carrot Island, same horses, easier to see :)
