Goa is not only my game from 2004 but its one of my top ten games of all time. It's the first game i remember having actions get better as you level them up and the auction is one of my favorites ever. It also plays well with any amount of players 2-4, although 3 or 4 is probably best. I also recommend the first edition rules (not a fan of the changes), although the rulebook might be the worst rulebook I've ever read.
The best version of St Petersburg is on Yucata, they have a bunch of expansions available as well. playing with the market phase is almost a must. Boardgame arena only has base game.
I love the idea of the back and forth of propping a game up, while someone else tries to give their reasons of why it isn't that good. You should bring that back Tom.
Love the Kremlin mention. Loved that game back in the 1980s. Haven't played recently. We had a great group back then...it's really dependent on how much fun the players have with their roles...much like Junta
Pretty sure Tom got Shake That City mixed up with Rolling Heights. I agree that RH is super fiddly, but STC is my Tiny Towns replacement. I really enjoy it. 8/10
It's interesting that he talks about wanting games like Kremlin, I assumed he didn't like that game because in his "6000 games better than these" video he walked past it on the rankings without talking about "Kremlin 3rd Edition." Maybe he talked about it or the other editions in a previous video and I missed it.
I think Tom thought "Shake That City" was "Rolling Heights"
He mentioned rolling meeples, which you do in Rolling Heights, not Shake That City.
We built this city!
We shake this city!
We shake this city on rolling heights!
One of my favorite series at the Dice Tower.
I miss Board Game commercials. They were the best.
Hüsker-du means "do you remember " - I still can't get that 1970s commercial out of my head
I'm surprised with all the reprints being put out these days that we haven't seen St. Petersburg reprinted.
exactly
St. Petersburg had a second edition in 2015

which also went OOP years ago...

I want to give St Petersburg a chance, but I can't find it anywhere here in CA
I think it's available on Boardgame Arena and Yucata

Succession image is "Visual Eyes"...?

Why did Spider-Geddon fall from an 8.5 to a 7? Or is that a mistake?
It's still an 8.5, sorry!
you should do a top 10 list of the best art in games.
Abyss is 10 years old? What?
10 years *deep

I want more games like Kremlin, but I feel that kremlin nowadays feels outdated and old.
Abyss fell flat for me, even with both expansions. IMO card powers were not balanced.
