that's a very concise summary!
mittermeier was the first german comedy superstar, he wanted to know if he could be funny in another language so he moved to ny for some time just to play open mics in a language he wasnt super familiar with, made his way to the just for laughs festical and club gigs in the uk. gotta respect the dedication to the craft and the challenge. i grew up with his tv specials which were hilarious but meticulously scripted. that means every performance is the same and it gets old quick. not your "oh whats he gonna say this time" comedian, but rather a well crafted perfomance

What he is actually saying in german at 9:30 is : "i am the best, i am the strongest, i will kick your ass" and so on. Not "i love you so much" 😅 in german you say i love you so much like this "ich liebe dich so sehr".

@@ShaeDerEinzige I remember a German comedian actually said its funny how the next generation always uses a word that was before seen as "negative" as a positive thing and something that was "positive/woke" before and make it negative. In Germany for example we used "geil" (horny) in the sense of "great" and "schwul" (gay as in homosexual) as "boring/not good". Later on young people started saying "porno" for good and yes normally porno means porn :D So calling it straight now instead of fag makes totally sense
Fag is a really old word! It used to be a term for little dry twigs to light a fire. Later it became a synonym for a cigarette, but that is also a while ago.
A German being a comedian is like a Brit teaching a cooking show or an American giving fashion tips. It's so weird and unexpected you can't help but laugh.
That's just a stereotype though. Comedy is tightly linked to language and culture. Most people simply don't know comedians that don't speak their own language - and trying to be funny in a foreign language is way harder.

Oh, my dear, how right you are. 77 years after WW2, 83 million Germans sit in their cellars full of guilt. They can work, be industrious and productive - but laughter is gone from them forever and ever. Humour simply does not exist in Germany, it has been irretrievably erased from the genome of the German nation! However, there are outliers like this Mittermeier, whom we sent to England out of pity. Because in our humourless country we can recognise when someone wants to be funny. But you can't earn money with it in Germany, because simply no one here understands what's so funny about humour. So, out of an act of humanity, we sent him to London. We are glad that he was able to find people there who will pay money for his clowning around. So he won't have to die a painful death of starvation, which he would certainly have died of as a comedian in Germany.

Since technically the Battenbergs.. Mountbattens really are just for show, I can't see how a hair trans- or implant could not be be written off as a business expanse - Jimmy Carr did it and that although he's not even nearly as rich as Willy. Despite being any less of an offensive, (slightly over)paid jester, who has been withholding tax money from the general public by finding loopholes in his most expensive ones and focusing everything on those, in order to also called "evading/avoiding paying taxes" that and had a very shady history/background story. 👀

I really don't understand the reasoning behind it, but I happen to be one of them - it's like a scientist believer, they don't know why they're believing in a god but also can't do anything to prove or disprove if their god(s) are really how they were told they'd be said they are by people who never even met, let alone talked to them. 🤷🏼♂️

my favorite thing to shout at people in German is Himmelkreutzdonnervertternacheinmal. Is a horrible thing to say... no real translation other than 'sky, cross, thunder weather again' Referring to crucifixion horror. Is oddly satisfying and with the right voice.... intimidating.

Our german language logical? Sorry, no. If someone meets Michael Mittermeier in a car, he should ask:"Soll ich dich umfahren?" If you stress the first syllable of "UMfahren" it means "shall I crash into you?" if you stress the second syllable "umFAHren" it means "shall I drive around you?" Somehow not the same :-) And not very logical.

Nonono German is very easy. When somebody asks "Soll ich dich umfahren?" you don't need to listen to the words he's saying... If you see a sparkle in his eye, the little smile on his face.... RUN... immediately! 😂😂

Mittermeier is Semi popular in germany. hes seen as "fast food comedy" no real thought put into it, very surfacile jokes, no message, and half of what he says in his jokes aint have a lick of truth to it, as evidenced here. he and Mario Barth are both seen as pretty much the barrel of the bottom of german comedy, doing mindless jokes about BS.
"more advanced" german comedians like Vince Ebert and Eckhart of Hirschhausen are actually educational in their humor (physics and medicine to be precise) and do have some messaging, and they do shows in english
However the really high end german comedians sadly only did shows in german. Id rank Volker Pispers and Georg Schramm as the kings, both having done comedy for over 3 decades very succesfully with their own regular TV show and absolutely sold out shows.
Both make fun of very tough current topics and events, provoke thought, educate and are just brilliant in crafting jokes.
Mittermeier has no build up its just : look heres a joke, this is it, hahaha.
With pispers, he just build and builds and builds - at the start of the show he says some things that are bit funny, then 30 minutes later he weaves that into a reference thats hilarious and at the end of the show he circles back to that and ends it with a line that makes it into an orgasm of laughter

I could never laugh much from Pispers or Schramm, because the messages and facts were too true when put into the final context of his show. But that is to be expected, they do heavy political comedy/satire.
