    Lyrics:
There was something in the desert
There was someplace wild and green
And a child in a village I passed through
There are places that I've travelled
And so many things I've seen
And it all fades away but you
I was sliding down a mountain
I was burning in the sun
I was crying with amazement at the view
    I was capturing a moment
But when all is said and done,
Well it all fades away but you
    It all fades away
    It all fades away
It all fades away but you.
I have sailed across the oceans,
Passed the cities and the farms
On a never-ending quest for something new
And the only thing that mattered
Was the four days in your arms
And it all fades away but you
    It all fades away
    It all fades away
It all fades away but you
    Ah
    Ah
There is one thing that's eternal
    That cannot be torn apart
There is one thing that remains forever true
Past the thinking, past the breathing
Past the beating of my heart
It will all fade away but you
    It all fades away
    It all fades away
It all fades away but you

The melody and ensemble performance are both haunting and inspiring, the 'give you goosebumps' kind. Most important, Mr. Pasquale is nothing short of amazing. The purity and range of his voice is superb. Watching this studio recording performed is very enjoyable. he is not a baritone. he is a tenor with a very rich voice tone and this is not a country song. this is a musical theater song styled to resemble country music. there's a difference.

Eliyahu Kheel I am a theatre professional and a baritone and I am familiar with the difference between Broadway and Country music. My thought was that someone will record this song from the country music world and make it a big hit. It's a beautiful song. Personally he sounds like a baritone to me and he probably is with the possibility of singing in his higher register. But thank you for your unnecessary commentary.

I don't know what your expertise is... but vocal character is based on timbre, not range. He is most certainly a baritone. Just because he can sing high, that doesn't make him a tenor. It makes him a skilled baritone with control over his instrument.

    • @eliyahusvocalcoaching

Andrew Mauney i know that vocal character is based on timbre. and his vocal character is slightly more baritone but that doesn't make him a baritone. there are many more things to look at. yes he has a rich tone. but it's not the heavy powerful instrument you'd hear in a baritone or bass. it's more dramatic and soaring like a baritenor, dramatic tenor, or a heldentenor. also he doesn't have the low notes with the command that you would hear any baritone having. as a heldentenor myself i know how it feels to be misjudged to be a baritone for having a powerful rich sound instead of the lyric sound most people are used to hearing in tenors. there are many kinds of tenors. not just lyric tenors. (though those are the most common)

I discovered this show, fell in love with it, got to perform it on piano. Amazing intense beautiful experience. And then a few weeks later, I experienced almost the same story line in my own personal life. And now I come back almost daily to listen to Steven sing my heartache.

That this remarkable actor/singer didn't even receive a nomination for a Tony award is very difficult to justify. And that this show didn't gain a wider audience is a tragedy. I place a significant amount of blame on Ben Brantley, whose reviews frequently underscore a lack of appreciation of performance art on his part.

I’ve watched this many times and admired his powerful vocals & beautiful tone he has. I hope to be able to see him & wife in broadway in NY if I visit. Btw love him in movie Marry Me’. If anyone should deserve a Tony award, Mr. Steven Pasquale is the one!

I first became aware of Pasquale on Rescue Me. He played a real doofus, non-singing character (Very well, indeed.) In the final season, there was one episode that was sung, and he blew me away when I heard that voice. However, nothing prepared me for Bridges. His voice is god-given, easily the finest baritone on Broadway. He should follow Kelly O'Hara into opera; he probably won't, but please someone out there write a musical or song cycle for that voice. Breathtaking.
