    * Update as of February 1, 2023*
    4 months post op…
    I’m doing so great now! Period and pain free for 3 months now! I’ll be honest I was within a small percentage of people who had post hysterectomy complications with bleeding and scar tissue. However, after a few visits to the surgeon post surgery the issue was treated and I recovered nicely. I have my last Pelvic Floor physical therapist appointment later this month and I feel like a new woman. I will say that I used everything that I purchased but my least favorite item was the pillow for under my knees. After a couple of weeks it caused knee pain so I ditched it. During my recovery, my six favorite items were my belly binder, gas x extreme, my heating pad, ice pack, recovery pillow, bathroom step stool and my meal service (the convenience was helpful). I also carried around a huge water bottle and drank a ton of water.
    Some advice; stay on top of your ibuprofen and Tylenol. You may be feeling great but in those first 2-3 weeks, if you skip a your pill you may find yourself in unnecessary pain. Also, don’t rush your recovery. I got bored and started doing stuff too fast which is partly why my bleeding was excessive 4 weeks post op. Take small walks and rest often. I hope this helps.

    We have a very similar story. When you said adenomyosis and you had pain ALL THE TIME even when you aren’t on your period I had to stop what I was doing because I’ve never really met someone describe so close to what I feel. I am scheduled to have my hysterectomy in less than 2 weeks. I went back and forth about keeping my ovaries but today I made the decision to remove them. My mother had ovarian cancer. I admit I’m still quite terrified. I’m 48 and will not have more children. But it’s still a thing for me. I am definitely hopeful for a new found less painful life. Thank you for sharing your story. ♥️

      I definitely understand where you’re coming from. It is a very difficult decision to make but what I can tell you is that being on the other side of that pain now a year later… I can say that having the surgery was the best decision I’ve ever made. Without pain I am a better version of myself. Pain isn’t always at the forefront or background of my mind anymore. I don’t have to make special plans or accommodations for unexpected prolonged periods. I’m able to enjoy life more, I am able to be a better mom and wife. I knew that the pain had changed me but it wasn’t until it was gone that I realized how much it had changed me. I can appreciate things so much more now. No, I won’t have anymore children of my own but I’ll be an awesome auntie and Nina. I held out hope for a third baby for a long time but looking back on things, I wish I had made my decision earlier so that I could have enjoyed my beautiful sons even more than I did during that time. I would have had less pain which means I would have played more, I would have had more patience with them and myself, and I wouldn’t have felt like I walked in a fog for years. I am not the only woman in my family to have suffered with adenomyosis, and every persons journey is slightly different but the pain is something we shared. You are not alone. It is scary but you can get through this. Try to think of it as a way of healing your whole body and try not to focus on what you’re losing. Rest, eat clean, nurture yourself and just give yourself the time and space you need to heal. Don’t rush your healing. I found journaling and walking really helped me to process the feelings associated with my decision during the healing process. But I kid you not, once my body healed so did my mind and my heart. I am wishing you a very successful surgery and recovery. Feel free to DM me on IG if you have questions or need a friend after your surgery.

    Hi from the UK! Severe Adenomyosis and Endometriosis and Fibroids and im getting a total hysterectomy keeping ovaries mid April. I've been goinf through so many emotions and i transferred that sadness into anxiety on how to prep for surgery. This video is so helpful. Thank you ❤️

      @ShereeThomas30  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh friend, I understand the anxiety. I’m sorry that you’re going through this. Please be sure to read the info section of this video so that you know which items I found the most helpful. I hope that your surgery goes well and that you heal quickly. Be gentle with yourself. Having this surgery will likely improve your quality of life. There are a lot of ways that you can still have children in the future or make a meaningful impact in a child’s life if you’d like to. I am personally a child care provider so I’m a second mom to many children but I’m also a loving aunt. Nearly all of my friends children practically live at my house and also call me auntie. The love that I have for all of these children and the time that I get with them is a blessing.
      I hope that you find peace with your decision and that you see this as a way to potentially save your life and improve your health. Good luck to you.

      My heart goes out to you. I definitely understand your pain. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. I honestly feel like a new women. I had no idea what life was like without pain and let me tell you… it is glorious. Like you, having this surgery was not an easy decision to make but it was the best decision for me. I am healthy, strong, happy and pain free. After my surgery I had to do a lot of things to aide in my recovery like going to physical therapy for pelvis floor dysfunction and I took lower back strengthening classes. Two things I never knew I needed. But I learned that when you spend a lot of time in pain you often clinch your muscles in other area to brace yourself for the pain in your uterus. This causes lower back pain, bladder issues and tight muscles in your pelvic floor which controls more of our bodies than I knew. Make sure that you ask your doctors if they think physical therapy can help you. I actually started the physical therapy before the surgery and continued after I healed from the surgery. Best decision ever. Good luck with everything. Better days are coming.

    It seems as though you have everything very well thought out. How wonderful that your doctor took the time to give you so much information. It seems rare these days. Both my daughter and I suffered from endometriosis and the pain relief after surgery was life altering. My recovery was different because it wasn’t laparoscopic. Prayers and blessings for you and your surgical team. 💕🙏

      Thank you so much. It is so interesting how many women suffer from endometriosis. I’m the only one in my family that has it but there are lots of other women’s health issues that family members have suffered that resulted in a hysterectomy. I’m glad that the surgery helped you and your girls. I am hopeful that it will be the same for me.

I just found out about it because of an accident that I was in on September 16 were we flipped four times and I am blessed to still be alive! Which is allowing me to be a better version of myself and that has helped me become a better mom and wife. There are times when I have unexpected feelings about my uterus being gone but then I also remember the years that I spent in pain. Having this surgery is a big decision and it can be scary but there is healing at the end of the tunnel. I hope that you feel better after your surgery as well.

    I understand you. My last cycle lasted 41 days that was super heavy. It was painful and I became extremely anemic so I had to get an iron infusion. I’ve been on the strongest hormones to help stop my cycles / didn’t work. So now I have a IUD and if it doesn’t work a hysterectomy is definitely on the table that honestly- I am more than OK getting. For the women who experience cycles like us they understand what we go through!! For the ones who have never experienced cycles like us - or even the pain just pray for us and nothing under that because we really do need prayer when dealing with painful and extremely heavy cycles that last over 30 days

    You will not regret your decision… when mine was removed, I didn’t have any discomfort to where I need any of the things you purchased… laparoscopic removal was an easy recovery for me… ate plenty ice … no fever… did not even take pain meds… the pain was bearable…after hearing which type you are having, I hope and really don’t think you will need all that… I didn’t experience all that… I know each person is different… I don’t have the trap gas either… walking was no problem.. my only issue was itching during the healing of the incision… can’t scratch…

    13:46 I had a total hysterectomy exactly 7 days ago and I applaud all of you who had easy peasy recoveries. Unfortunately, I’m still in quite a bit of pain. My surgery was not laparoscopic due to the size of my uterus and I’m not sure if that makes a difference but I’m waiting for the light at the end of this tunnel. My incision doesn’t hurt at all but everything around it does. Any suggestions are welcome

    • @ShereeThomas30

      I didn’t have a totally easy recovery and I experienced post surgery complications with bleeding, but I do believe that everyone’s recovery is unique to their own body. I am so sorry that you are experiencing a rough recovery. I would say that what helped me the most with my pain was wearing my belly binder longer than it was recommended, alternating between my extra large ice pack and a long heating pad. I also stayed on top of my ibuprofen & Tylenol even when I felt like I didn’t need it. I found that when I skipped taking the ibuprofen or Tylenol because I felt fine I ended up paying for it later when I tried to relax. It’s like all the pain I didn’t feel earlier in the day hit me like a ton of bricks. Additionally, do whatever it takes to make sure your bowel movements are smooth and regular. Constipation definitely can increase abdominal discomfort. I know it seems impossible to imagine right now… but one day you will be without all of this pain and discomfort. I am wishing you the best of luck in your recovery.

      Hello! I’m doing so great now! Period and pain free for 3 months now! I’ll be honest I was in a small percentage of people who had post hysterectomy complications with bleeding and scar tissue. However, after a few visits to the surgeon post surgery the issue was treated and I recovered nicely. I have my last Pelvic Floor physical therapist appointment later this month and I am a new woman. I will say that I used everything that I purchased but my least favorite item was the pillow for under my knees. After a couple of weeks it caused knee pain so I ditched it. During my recovery my six favorite items were my belly binder, gas x extreme, my heating pad, ice pack, recovery pillow, bathroom step stool and my meal service (the convenience was helpful). I also carried around a huge water bottle and drank a ton of water. I have one piece of advice, stay on top of your ibuprofen and Tylenol. I really hope that your procedure goes well and that you get the healing that you need. Life is so sweet on the other side of this thing. Reply post op if you need support or have questions. Good luck!

    I hope you won't need any of that after your hysterectomy. I'm not sure what more they will be doing to you since mine was due to endometrial cancer, but I had no problems, pain, bleeding, etc, afterwards. I had total hysterectomy and was opened from hip bone to hip bone. I'd had a c-section with my son 30 years earlier and was opened up along that scar, and was still numb from the c-section, so I didn't have the muscle pain like I did with the c-section, so I guess that was why it was so easy. The hard part was the menopause symptoms. I hope you don't have any of those problems either. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

    • @ShereeThomas30
      @ShereeThomas30  ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope I don’t either. Luckily, I get to keep my ovaries. They appear to look healthy from the ultrasounds, they will be removing the uterus, cervix and Fallopian tubes, endometriosis any fibroids and they will be checking my bladder, colon and bowel for scar tissue and endo. Praying that I have an easy recovery.
      I’m so sorry to hear that you went through endometrial cancer. I pray that you are well and I thank you for sharing your experience.

      @@ShereeThomas30 I'm 5 years cancer free now. It was so nice not having the massive painful periods though (nothing to do with the cancer. That was just a fluke that it was found) I'd had polycystic ovaries and huge fibroids too though in the past (baseball size). They had injected something up an artery in the groin to kill them, but they only shrunk a bit and then calcified. The general way to do the hysterectomy was to remove everything vaginally since it was much less invasive, which had been the plan, but since it couldn't fit out that way, I had it done with a big abdominal incision. I was up and walking around the next morning though, virtually pain free (my surgery was the previous evening). Much easier than my c-section.

      I’m so sorry to hear that. I bet it’s very uncomfortable. I had complications days after I left the hospital. My complications were due to developing scar tissue. I just took so long to heal. I had to have silver nitrate applied to my vaginal cuff and a small opening that wouldn’t heal. Then two weeks later I started bleeding and clotting like crazy. I went to the emergency room and they applied surgical sealant all over the area and I had to start using a estrogen cream to help with the healing. I just hit 8 weeks post op and I’m finally feeling really good. Hang in there. I’ll say a prayer for you. I know that this part of the process is painful but pretty soon you will feel better than you have in a long time.
      Also, if you haven’t seen a PT you may want to ask your surgeon if he/she thinks it will help you after you heal. I am seeing one for Pelvic Floor dysfunction and one of the things they help with is bladder issues post hysterectomy. I really hope you start feeling better soon.

      I’m so sorry. I actually found that sleeping on the wedge pillow that I mentioned in this video with a small neck pillow was the most comfortable for me. I also slept with the hysterectomy pillow on my belly while I hugged it. I also had a pillow on my side once I felt healed enough to try to sleep more on my side. Sleeping was a bit rough. I would take Tylenol pm at night to help.

      @@EnochnKale I completely understand. Yes, I have a private playlist that I use for my personal pelvic floor workouts of videos created by other TH-camrs but I’ll post my favs here. I actually found that doing more low back and core strengthening exercises gave me the most relief though. I also had to use a pelvic floor tool to relax the muscles in my pelvic floor. That was really awkward because it’s like a vibrator but it worked. The physical therapist taught me how to use it. I no longer need it. How are you now after hysterectomy

    • @ShereeThomas30
      @ShereeThomas30  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A year post hysterectomy and things are great! It took a few months to heal but I have been happier in this last year than I had been for a couple of years. Living without pain is so glorious. It was one of the best decision that I have ever made. Now that I don’t have constant pain I’m a better version of myself, better mom, better wife and a better teacher. I suffered from depression as a result of constantly being in pain and it seemed like very shortly after the surgery the clouds cleared and I was able to truly feel good. Not having a period has also been amazing. I do want to note that a great deal of my healing did come from attending PT for pelvic floor dysfunction. It was awkward but definitely helped me. Thanks for asking and good luck to you in your recovery if you plan to have a hysterectomy.

      Aw friend I know your pain. I’ll pray for your healing tonight. You will get through this. Do whatever keeps you the most comfortable. Just rest. Stay on top of your ibuprofen and Tylenol even if your pain seems mild because as soon it’s out of your system your pain will return. Use the belly support band for as long as you need, it really does help. Heat and ice are your best friends. I used everything in this video and it helped me a lot. The only thing I didn’t use for long is the wedge pillow for under my legs. After 2 weeks I found that it bothered my knee. Just be gentle and kind to yourself and let God do the rest.
