I picked up this bag about 3 months ago and used it sporadically for 1-3 day work trips. It’s useful as a fast travel bag. Fits under the seat on Southwest planes. I ended up cutting off the G-hook straps. They don’t serve a purpose and also drops into the pouch, getting in the way when closing the zipper. It’s not long enough to use to hold an umbrella. Also I cut out the gusset. Easy to do with a sharp scissor and used a lighter to burn off the loose threads. It works much better-almost a full clamshell opening. Organization pockets are a bit slim. Can’t put too much without bulking or settling down at the bottom. Things I like: - the web strap handles (top and side) is made of a long strap that runs around two sides of the bag, occasionally stitched down to make a small low profile section for carabiner or other attachment point. Handle is very comfortable and I hope the webbing handle design gets more widely adopted. - Maine Compartment is a useful size (for me). Expansion is small . I essentially pack it closed up and use the expansion for a few last minutes things i need to add to the pack. - Straps and overall bag are very comfortable for the weight i pack in this size bag. Wish list: - Key hook/strap. Every bag needs a loop to hook a small carabiner or have a key leash built into. I may have a small loop sewn in to hook a carabiner or tie a chord for a key ring. - luggage pass through. I know this is called never check, so maybe it’s expected to be a one-bag travel bag but how much trouble is it to add a strap for a luggage pass through. It’d be a great bag to pair with a rolling luggage for packing a lot between the two. - wish the straps stowed away. It’s a sleek bag and can be carried horizontally (but straps get in the way) - wish for a top end stash pocket. These are very convenient when having a bag under the airline seat. You can pull the bag up a bit and grab stuff from the top end stash pocket on an airplane (ear buds, spare battery, snacks…)
@@tjaco13 Held up fine. I cut it close to the stitching. I took my time and went very slow so I wouldn't cut the the material around it. I also carefully melded the threads with a lighter. I pushed the seam out and pulled away the surrounding material and slowly brought the flame close. FYI. I also cut out the gusset because I wanted a clamshell opening lid.
Love my Never Check, it’s my all-in-one bag this size. It’s my everyday work bag living upright and when I use it for gym clothes it sits upright on the bench as well so the gusset again works nicely to save locker room space for other people. Love the 2 zippers on the mesh pocket since it does open flat and without being able to choose to just open a side or the top then everything would fall out. The organizer on the back doesn’t add a lot of bulk but keeps things accesible and the side laptop sleeve works nicely with that half pocket on the back where I keep my charger and usb cable handy. The bag can sit upright between my feet waiting for a flight to board and all the gadget/power stuff I need has easy side-open pockets without exposing the rest of your gear. I use the G clips to hold an umbrella sometimes though I wouldn’t mind if they had been left off the design. I kinda wish the expansion added more space but also there’s only so much depth you want to add before it’s a big cube on your pack. 9/10 would buy again
The gusset i think is more for someone who uses there bags upright. That when you open the bag and let it stay that way for a long time, the cover won’t fall down.
I've used the bag for work for about 2 years and use it off and on with other Timbuk2 bags I own. I don't like the side compartment for my computer, I've more than a few times had my laptop slide out. I like Timbuk2 bags that you put from the top because if you forget to zip it, your computer won't be on the floor. I also find it annoying the second pocket you can't open up all the way and the hooks are cumbersome to take on and off so I usually just leave them unbuckled.
Would like it if you had a tape and showed the dimensions when packed and even weigh it. Every bag needs a key hook inside. Good concept just not thoroughly baked, yet.
I have been looking hard at this bag and you give it a great review... My takeaway is that the gusset really makes the main compartment harder to access and the front half-opening isn't really to my liking either. Then you add the $200 price tag and it's a no for me.

Thanks for sharing your insights! 🤙
how can there be no luggage pass through
Cutting those off is exactly what I was thinking… how has it held up after the cuts?

@@kennycentRight??? I’d love to hear their thoughts about why they omitted it.

You can do the same with clamshell backpacks
Open the zippers halfway and done!
I’m not a fan of the gusset. I’m with powseetr. It serves no purpose but to annoy

Do you think the straps are good for someone with sloped shoulders?
It would've been cool to have zippers or snaps on the gusseted area so you could choose to use them or not.

Do you guys have a cat in studio or that fur was shipped with a bag? 😺

How is the Timbuck 2 SuperG?
does it have some sleeve to put in on the luggage?
What’s the weight in lbs ?
Folks you can't just say a bottle doesn't fit. You have to show it.
It’s a no from me but good review
Thanks for watching! 😃
Please ditch the background music- it’s distracting and doesn’t add anything.
I kinda agree, i typically love listening to calming music but paired with a person speaking with a higher energy the contrast is quite jarring
I agree. Thr music is not necessary in a video that is meant to inform. The visuals and talking are all a viewer needs.
I disagree, I dig the music
