Clown when did he say he was going full power? There's a difference in not holding back and going full power when he said that he is not holding back he meant that his regular attacks had the power to slash icebergs but he held back so much that his regular slash did minimal damage but now he was not holding back his regular slashes.
All ace had to say was “Grandpa help me” and Garp wouldn’t have thought twice 🥺

That would make ace's character look very vulnerable. First he becomes a pirate and when the prirate problems arises, he takes shadow of his grandpa.

You’re clearly 10 years old and can’t differentiate between good writing with parallels and your own insecurities as a human, ace would not have been cringey asking for help! It would have shown alot of character development! And for the record it wasn’t even Oda decision to kill off ace. It was one of his writing directors who came up with the idea. Oda wanted Ace to fight in the final war arc with luffy but thought that it would impact the story more if he died. Which is exactly what he did. I would have had 10x the respect for Ace if he asked for help. But just like his “grandfather” his pride got in the way and eventually led to his demise 🤝

What part would be character suicide? Ace was a profoundly prideful man just like his father! He wanted to be nothing like his father. So him asking for help would have done just that. Made him his own! But him keeping his mouth shut solidified the parallel between him and his father and their pride to the very end! How can you not understand that? 😭😂 If Ace had just gone “grandpa help me” it would have broken the parallel then and there. Idk what leg you’re standing on with “character suicide”. But it’s not relevant to what I’m saying. Also adding no context to your opinion is a little shallow and attention seeking 😳🤝

One thing i hate about garp is how he KNOWS that the marines are just fodder for the celestial dragons, and still insists that his grandchildren should join the navy as well. Even dragon bailed from him.
I always thought it was crap how he tried to have it both ways. Refused to be admiral because he knows how much the dragons suck and knows all the scummy and shady lengths the WG goes through to keep secrets and maintain order yet he's still there. I know later he tried to get around it by forming SWORD but still.
The easiest way to protect them was the marines.
The marines are not perfect, but there are cases where they are actively doing the right thing like saving the children from the gigantification exleriment.
In most cases they are much better than pirates and are a bit worse that the revolutionaries but being a revolutionary is extremely dangerous.
As marines, he wouldn’t have had to sit and watch them get executed like Ace was……. He saw his greatest rival, the greatest pirate that ever lived get executed. If Gol D couldn’t avoid it then of course he wouldn’t trust his grandsons to avoid it either right?
