*About Aruna Sairam*
Aruna Sairam (Padma Shri) is a Carnatic vocalist, composer, collaborator, humanitarian, and speaker. In addition to her performances in India, Aruna has taken Carnatic music to the global arena, at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall and Carnegie Hall. Currently Vice Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Delhi, she was appointed in 2008 by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu as Advisor to the Department of Culture. Aruna works towards the musical education of underprivileged students, through the Nadayogam Trust, which she founded in 2011. Aruna is grateful for the training she received under her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman and the legendary T. Brinda, and the mentorship from several masters throughout her musical journey. Her music erased geographic borders when she was the first to incorporate Abhang, a Western Indian musical form, into a traditional, South Indian concert.

Mam wishes from your rasikas. In one of the videos you explained the difference between listening carnatic music with the knowledge and without. You compared it with temple Prasad and a big feast. Awesome explanation.

Namaste mam....am from north India..from Uttarakhand...and I want to learn Carnatic vocal....mam plz share us some knowledge...how I can start and what to do... because I have no resources here in my state
Kalpana swaras will come in experience and more of hearing from other artist Rendition.
You can crack for any other raaga then.
Follow the below steps:
Step 1: Sing arohanam and avarohanam as many times as you can
Step 2: identify the key notes or jeeva swaras for the Ragam. Practice those notes.
Step 3: slowly sing the notes and then faster
Step 4: identify the suitable line in a keerthi and start improving. Do not put thalam until you attain perfection in swaras.
Step 5: once you are all set, put your kalpana swaras and do it with Thalam. (easy to put kalpana swaras for keerthi's in Adi and Rupakkam)
Key to crack the hurdle is patience and listening to other artist renditions.

Strong understanding of Layam needed too. If you can understand jathis it will help you place Kalpana swaram appropriately and add a touch of flourish
Confused, madam. You were supposed to stay within the sa-ri-ga-ma-pa range. But your kalpana went from lower ni to upper sa.
