Howard is really and truly a great dude. I went down some rabbit hole one night watching old Mothers of Invention clips, having loved 200 Motels, and eventually I found the Flo N Eddie site and sent an email thanking him and Mark for just being THEM. They raised the bar for pop music, and just seemed like they were genuinely enjoying themselves. Well, he wrote back! It was unbelievable to me. He took the time to thank ME for thanking him... and we goofed about stuff in a couple of emails and it was just natural to him. So real. Thanks again Howard... if you're reading this. Thanks, Vicki for giving us an opportunity to see him perform and just be his awesome self -and thanks for being YOU! Cheers!
In another incarnation, I was a jingle writer/producer. We did a jingle for a bank that wanted the Turtles to sing the opening of the commercial. So I was privileged to sing with Flo and Eddy on a recreation of Happy Together. They entertained us with many great rock and roll stories. Nice guys.
The man is royalty in my book and thank you for sharing this wonderful moment. I'd consider having an operation for the opportunity to join your group and experience these festive moments with so many music legends. What fun!
Great to see Howard telling his story in a book..I have been a fan for many years and look forward to purchasing a copy here in Oz.. Footnote...I asked Howard to be a Facebook friend a few years ago and sadly he ignored me..I have since learnt the folly of his way's and yes ..did I know it was a silly request.....Yes I knew it was a silly request...good health and happiness to you Howard and thank you for sharing your talent with us.
You should email or tweet him this information. Howard has repeatedly said that he viewed himself as "a potato" when he was younger. I personally agree with your view of him (and I've seen him in person and spoken with him numerous times).
Have to say, the Turtles had many great tunes, but You Baby has to be noted the most feel good of them all! Howard, you have to be included in the top ten lead vocalists in Rock...............
2 things, I'm annoyed I wasn't there to enjoy a GREAT intimate show like that. I'm neither a woman or a writer so that's my loss. Thank you very much for posting that. That to me was very interesting to listen to the White House stories and then to hear them perform. I've seen the Turtles twice recently and they were great shows. Thank you for sharing, sure wish these young folks would listen to and appreciate groups like this.
Just a truly great video! Especially LOVED the sing along. Could this guy possibly have been more generous! Saw Flo and Eddie do a one hour set in a beachside bar in Ft. Lauderdale in 1975. Great stuff!
I love these artists who are so giving. Many would have said they couldn't sing or needed to prepare, or all those other excuses. While people like Mr Kaylan just want to see people smiling and having a good time.
20:00 - "Mark decided to hit on Luci Baines Johnson" BWAA HAA - "Remember what she looked like then?" I exploded!!! Howard still seems like he couldn't handle that.
first concert i saw was phlorescent leech and eddie opening for ziggy stardust and spiders from mars at winterland san francisco ca---500 people---i haven't been the same since--i did two radio shows on kvmr-fm nevada city ca---the first one called rated x---kind of got in trouble--wouldn't do it different---love mark and howard!!!!---ric o'shea
Jim Tucker passed away November 2020 in Grass Valley, Ca. The local paper, the Union did a beautiful two full page (front and back article/obituary. I watched for the first time my Dinner with Jimmy and made note of the bullying incident instigated by John Lennon. What a creep he was. No excuse. Invited a band from a foreign country over and then treated one of them so poorly he left the music business. Jim Tucker was loved by many in the Grass Valley area. RIP. Jim
Try asking Kaylan , about doing a copy ( band)of two of his songs , we are just starting out, and four different times, ALSO twice to Volman, I reached out to him. and this clown didn't have the decency to get back to me. he is 70 or 71, His time is through. Love ( It ain't me babe, and You Baby( 35 years before I was born)! Don't throw roses at this clowns feet!

It was my priviledge to meet Howard Kaylan a few years ago. But what's real cool is his wife shops at our UPS Store. Our dogs play together.

That was fabulous. Thank you Vicki for always the best stuff on TH-cam.
Thank you Vicki, these appearances from musicians from the 60's - 70's are really awesome! Love your enthusiasm as well! 😊👍
My pleasure and thank you!
@@VickiAbelsonLive YW, you have a new fan 😀 Im a child of the 60's. 1965-74 was the best 10 years of music ever, IMO.

Howard was one of the dreamiest crooners in the 60s--him and Carl Wilson from the Beach Boys both were my idea of a sexy heartthrob singer at the time

Not at all... lovely!

Didn't Nixon end the Vietnam war or was that too little too late?
After he escalated it. 😊

If you need to ask, it doesn't matter. Forget about it until you inevitably get there and people ask the same about your musical heroes.
