FYI the heel tip has a special design to NOT be able to rotate. If you rotate it during removal you are in fact enlarging the hole. Best to just grip the heel tip and pull upwards.
This video is a life saver. I have only worked on sneakers and boots with my small restoration buisness. I made a google buisness page so long ago that I've forgotten about it until today. I had an alof lady call me asking how much I'd charge to do this to her heels. I have no idea on a price to quote or even how to do the job lol. Now I have a much better idea on both of those ends so thanku.
thank you soooo much! with your tip, I was able to pull the old heel tip out, and put new one in. you saved me money and a trip to shoe repair shop. Couldn't be happier that I found this video! really appreciate it!!! have a wonderful day!
Great video! Thx for sharing these simple tips. The second scenario happened to me. The rubber came off but the pin was stuck. Rotated patiently and pin came right out. Thx again!
You are a total star..whilst out n about i got my heel caught in between some paving and felt the rubber bit come away..I was gutted as these were some of my favourite boots..so i thought I'd see if I could find out how to replace the tip myself..Instantly found your page and all I can say is BRILLIANT IT WORKS thak you for saving me a trip to the cobblers...
One critical point left out is that while rotating you actually ARE pulling upward (although not directly). Otherwise the tip would not come out if you were purely rotating at 90 degrees to the heel.
i’m also struggling with this, i saw another person in the comments said they wiggled it the same but it just took a bit longer, trying very hard to remain patient with mine 😭🤦🏼♀️
Yea the sides of the pin shown here has grooves down the sides of it, for grip l presume. So the channel inside the heel mustn't be smooth either, so as to grip. So rotating must surely wear away any key.
I can understand if it was $30 $40 but it cost $12-$15 to get them replaced and shine them for you and they come out looking great I tried your method and my pin broke I had to take it to a To a shoemaker and he did it for me in two minutes save a headache and stop being cheap there’s an old saying leave the bread to the baker
I've just paid £18 to have heel tips replaced, and new soles stuck on. Feel like lve been ripped off. Tips and soles cost so little on Amazon. Wish l'd checked it out first. Every penny counts nowadays for some of us.

@Robert Tait--Thank you-I will try🙋♀️
Thank you so much! This stops me from running to the shoe repair every time a heel wears down.

Thank you for this helpful video! What is the brand of the pliers that you recommend to use?

Looks doable. I'll try it out! Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Great video, very detailed and thorough. Thanks.
Nice. I bought this product and the video is really helpful. I would recommend the product.
Where do you get the heel tip?
Thank you so much for this! Tagging you in an upcoming video replacing these
Thanks for this video! where do you recommend I buy heel tips?
How do you decide which size heel tip is needed?
Where do we order the heels
Thanks! I was able to do this even though the rubber tip has completely worn down.
What do I do if the metal tip is now a nub and I have next to nothing to grip onto???
i’m also struggling with this, i saw another person in the comments said they wiggled it the same but it just took a bit longer, trying very hard to remain patient with mine 😭🤦🏼♀️
Please share the link or platform..where i can get these tips... Since 2 year I'm searching this😢
What if the heel tip is so worn down there is nothing to grab. Am I out of luck with these shoes?
Thank you so much! You’re awesome!
OMG--Thaaaakk you soooo much!! Amazingly life-saving😁🤗💁♀️🙏🥰
How do you measure the heel tip before you buy it so you aren't buying 100 tips and trying to figure out the right tip?
This was helpful. Thanks
Do you not need to put glue in between the end of the heel and the new tip, to stop it rotating during use?
I would use a pair of locking pliers (e.g., Vise Grips) to pull out a pin that is separated from the old heel.
Thank you!
Very helpful
OMG Rotating the tip will ream out the heel and make the hole too big !!!!
You are correct .
correct. Not to rotate but pulling straight out is the first thing that i learned from a experienced cobbler
100% agree, I was worried that the hole would need filling after all of this reaming process

Yeah...all I did was ruin my shoes I think, now I have to either face the shame and face an actual shoe repairer or throw them out...
