We do have a generator for emergencies, they are quite noisy and prone to annoy any neighbours. We have considered adding a diesel a heater to the back of the boat as heat from the fire does not reach that far, but it’s a space and cost issue at the moment 😀
Enjoy watching you guys. Thank you for this information, it'll help us towards making our decision of to buy or not to buy and live afloat. If you haven't already done so, could you do information on how you get your shopping and also registering with a doctor's. Many thanks again, Anna & Mark ❤
So glad you are enjoying our channel and that the information is useful to you😃 Shopping is easy, there are so many shops within. Walking distance of the canals, however quite often you are buying from local shops which tend to be even more expensive compared to large supermarkets. You can order for a delivery, I have used a bridge and restaurants address before, just ensure you write details in the notes that you are in a boat and the exact location to find you. I made it super easy for the driver and was there to wave him down 😂 Drs a little more tricky, in an emergency A&E or see if a local drs surgery would see you as a guest. You can also use a family or friends address to register. Getting post is another thing to consider. Some post offices will let you use their address to have things delivered, there is also a service that will take you mail and then scan it to you, there are post & Amazon boxes 🤗
Thank you so much for replying. We currently live in Central, rural Portugal (think farmyard rather than Algarve and that's us, we even have a goat 🐐). We love Portugal, its beautiful living in the mountains but we're getting itchy feet again. I've had a more riverboat before when my son was young but did keep eyeing the narrow boats. I've put the seed in Mark's head now so we're starting to do the homework first. That's why your video was so helpful from the financial side, to know costs before we've even bought a boat. Thank you again 😊
I think within the next five years the license will double in price, plus a new surcharge for continuous cruisers which will be revealed this november.
I think it is inevitable that costs will go up first naturally with inflation. Then the Government is reducing the grant to the CRT and with construction costs going up at a reduced budget the fee will have to increase
Quality cab, best sport on the planet

Yep, not sure about doubled but certainly getting up there, either way its a bit of a hike.
