A sandbox is a protected environment which can be used for (almost) every program or especially for the internet to protect your PC from viruses, malware, adware and other bad stuff. There as been a versions of the SandBoxie available for years, but it was never 100% working error free, but now it's open source and some awesome programmer has further developed and put it to perfection and now it's available for free again. But watch and see how it works. BTW: for my own safety I'm not linking the website, because my account here has been locked many times by TH-cam because of such links which they in a sudden found harmful ...

Qs. Is it possible to test a suspicious program with sandboxie without physically installing the program like you'd on a virtualbox?
I set up a public computer with this once. All the links that the users could click on ran in a sandbox. People used to infect the computer with all kinds of garbage previously, but it never happened after. Occasionally an admin would need to log in to let the browsers update, but they never had to clean up again.

Nice video. I have downloaded and been testing Sandboxie. what i cannot figure out is if that if i have an infected app on my computer that has not been executed. i want to "run in sandbox", i see it appears to grab my chrome files and upload them to thier site. how can i block this with sandbox?
Never seen that. I've only teste it with Chrome and never with apps
You can disable programs in the sandbox from accessing your network/the internet. Right-click on your sandbox -> Sandbox Options -> Network Options tab -> set the top option to "Block by denying access to Network devices"
@@winrawrisyou Thanks for the heads up I am new to the sandbox thing but love love love the idea of it. I guess I downloaded the free version that I think limits some of those options. Definitely worth the 20 bucks though now I see it's potential :-)
I want to run the Microsoft Edge browser and install extensions on it, but so that all those extensions disappear as soon as I close the program ..... Does Sandbox help me what I want??
Yes - that's exactly what you need. With Sandboxie you will get a copy of your existing installation and not a 'clean' environment. That's why I'm using Sandboxie because then I have also my VPN and other plugins

Yep exactly
You can even just let the program stay in sandboxie and just run it in sandboxie whenever you want to use it. Since it isn't like a vm that is basically a seperate machine

@@rokumote Thanks .... I understand the words, but not the meaning ... lol. I mean I'm not deeply into the options of Sandboxie ... I have pinned Sandboxie itself to the taskbar, but I don't think that you can pin like a sandboxed version of a program to the taskbar ... if it's what you mean ...

thats what i wonder aswell. What if we play a game that is openable only once per computer like League with sandboxie?
I'm pretty sure you can open it two times or if not then install two different browsers like Opera and Brave or so

No there isn't, there is no sandbox on my PC. windows 10

@@allcheckout Im guessing its for the network part. Windows uses a cloud so malware can't just grab your chrome files and send them to their server.
Sandboxie is not using a cloud at all. The premium version is using WFP to ensure that malware can't just grab your files via your connection.
However you can just disable the general network access of your sandbox and no data will escape.
