Floss:
Lg. Petals of the Sunflower & Bee Body: Heirloom Gold by Gentle Arts
Sm. Petals of the Sunflower: Amber by Weeks
Black: Can be DMC
Dark Brown: Dark Chocolate by Gentle Arts
DETAILS of the box:
I used The Twisted Stitcher's Flat Fold Instructions for the Front of the Box
PINCUSHION;
I used the Sunflower portion of the pattern and then flipped it to do the top as a mirror image and added a few stitches to make the center rounded.
The top and bottom border are done with 6 spaces in between the flower and the first row.
There will be 16 stitches on the first row with one space in between stitches
15 stitches on the second row with one space in between stitches
18 stitches solid along the bottom row.
Cardboard cut at 2 3/8 by 3 5/8 so it has a little give when you push it into the slot that is 2 1/2 by 3 3/4.
I used 8 pieces of batting 2 1/2 by 3 3/4
Lace it snug, but not too tight so there are no lumps and bumps on the edges since there is so much batting and fold the short ends like a package, so the corners are pretty sharp.

Here's my best shot at explaining how to make it:
Trim the linen 2 3/4 by 5 1/2 (3/4" on bottom and sides of the bee)
Keep the bee at the bottom (the top gets folded down for the back).
Cut a piece of fabric 2 3 /4 by 5 1/2 for the inner lining
Cut a piece of fabric 2 3/4 by 3 1/2 for the pocket. Fold in half so it measures 2 3/4 by 1 3/4 with wrong sides together and iron flat.
Iron a piece of SF101 fusible interfacing to the wrong side of both the stitched linen and the inner lining. (I cut mine 2 1/4 by 5 so it doesn't bulk up the edges.
1. Place the lining fabric right side up
2. Place pocket with the raw edges at the bottom of the lining fabric (remember it has been folded in half with wrong sides together and ironed).
3. Place the stitched linen piece right side down with the stitched part at the top
Sew with a scant 1/8 seam allowance (or smaller) around the edges, leaving a 1 1/4 inch opening on the side (you can leave larger if you need to).
Trim the corners and carefully turn so the right side is on the outside.
I use a corner turner tool to carefully help the corners be nice and sharp.
Iron and finger press the opening so the raw edges are on the inside.
Stitch with tiny stitches to close.
Fold in half and iron so it wants to keep its shape.
NEEDLEMINDER SECTION:
I used E6000 to glue a strong 5/8 inch magnet to the piece of wool then glued my metal tag to that. You can use a button or anything creative for a needleminder.
The Vintage Ruler 1/2 inch hand-dyed twill tape was from Lady Dot Creates.

It is so refreshing to find a stitcher who makes videos about Thanksgiving and not Halloween, and who speaks goodness and not celebrates evil things like witchcraft, etc. Plus, to end the video with a focus on the one true focus, Jesus, is just the cherry on top. Amen Bonnie, stay true to your faith. I don't stitch things that go against my faith either and I would leave off the wording also. There is meaning behind most things and we need to pay attention to that.

Oh my goodness. I was so concerned about your diamond as well!!! Thank goodness!!! Such a great video filled with so much inspiration!!! Because of you, I’m starting to get a collection of small boxes at Hobby Lobby but plan to look at thrift and antique stores for different items too. Such a fun idea!! It’s a good feeling to pick up projects once started then put away and just finish them. Your stitching is gorgeous!!! Of course, the words of the gospel is how we can travel through these trials that seem to never slow down. Sometimes I just can’t believe what has happened to our country. It is so sad. No god fearing leadership and this is what results. God will not forsake us. Believers are waiting for Christ. God bless you Bonnie and your family.

It’s a fun way to stay focused on positive things! And yes, we have to keep looking to Jesus to lead us through these awful policies and loss of freedoms….but we can be victorious knowing Heaven awakes!

Glad you found your diamond. Although I don't make boxes or needle books, I did enjoy your video. I find I repeat the words of Padre Pio,over and over like a mantra until I feel more peaceful. 'Pray, Hope, and don't worry'. But I also feel more strongly that Christians need to speak loud and strong. Thank you for doing that.

I love this box Bonnie I'm a big fan of 🐝. I live in Northern Ireland so no hobby lobby here but I will definitely try & source a box somewhere & have a go 😊I have downloaded the free pattern & also the Christmas bells chart. I always make my 3 daughters something as part of their Christmas present & these will be just perfect. Thank you for sharing & also sharing your faith so encouraging 🙏🏻💕Marie

Ahhh….my sweet sister Bonnie Joy!!! Girl….you are one talented woman! Please continue sharing your boxes and how you finish them. I’ve pretty much always made ornaments or just framed my cross stitch. I am loving working on “smalls” too right now. Let me ask….I am very interested in purchasing some of the Blackbird Design books but cannot locate a site where they show photos of the projects in each one. My rule of thumb before purchasing magazines,, etc is that there must be three projects in them that I’ll actually complete. Much love and many, many blessings to you and yours! Beverly
I found that 123 Stitch generally has all the photos of the projects for each book. They gave great prices, but I do like to share the wealth with my purchases and buy from different small businesses. I agree, I like to make sure I’m going to get my $$ worth from buying a book, so it needs to have several projects I want to make. I’m also finding that when I want a new chart or. Ok, I think about how many I have that are pretty similar and still not stitched yet, so I’m keeping up with my Stitch Whatcha Got!

It’s funny, those last two stitching boxes pretty much encompassed weeks worth of stitching, but since then, I’ve been stitching on several other projects. I even stitched up the free pattern Love Never Fails that I showed from Primitive Hare and will make a pillow out of it, so I’ll have some new things to show…oh I also finished the blackbird pumpkin one, too!
The bee needle book is so darn cute! Thanks for sharing your talents. Enjoyed your video. Do you have directions on how to make the little needle books?
I’m glad you found the notes and I hope they make sense. I will see if I can upload the pictures to Instagram today for the new box….it wasn’t working Sunday and then I learned about the problem worldwide with several Facebook platforms.

I’m so glad you want to see them and I need to get my next quilt video done soon. I looked back and I did share that fall quilt last year with several quilts I have at the cabin. I think I have 13 quilt videos so far and will look forward to sharing more!
