Elephants are endangered species elephants are sensitive and a beautiful animal why in the hell would you keep elephant hide on your wall that is sickening I would not stay there if you paid me to just because of the elephant hide on the walls of such a beautiful creature you could have kept everything but you could have changed that and made a difference in the world of the elephant

Those hides were placed after construction, 1906 to 19078.
Yours is an argument against preserving history, and quite foolish for that reason.
The presence of original construction and/or decor is NOT, except in the mind of a seriously maladjusted individual, advocacy for killing elephants for their hides now, nor does it condone the past, while acknowledging that "it is as it is".
Further, to tear them down now would not only be a savage act with respect to history, it would also be very irresponsibly wasteful!
Those hides provide actual insulation on the walls of a building in a very cold climate.
If you had as much sensitivity as you imagine, you would think of it as a memorial to those animals, even though you recognize (unlike the ancestors who built that structure) that it was wrong to kill them for hides.
Like you... in the above, I made certain assumptions. One is that elephants were not actually over-running their environment at the time, depriving villagers of food by foraging and/or trampling.
However, I venture to say that elephants were not an endangered species at the time...that is fairly certain, I am sure, but I have not researched it.
Elephants are indeed intelligent and sensitive animals. Their emotional lives are rich and their memories are wondrous.
That said, you might consider being less self-righteous regarding a time and people who frankly hadn't a clue. Even Christ is said to have asked, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do."
If you regarded the elephant hunters with like compassion and wisdom, you could move on from virtue signalling. Their views were very different from yours, for reasons pertaining to their time and conditioning.

How would that make a difference now to the elephant? It's part of the history. It's not like they just put it up.
