Flew an 850 G1000NXi for a couple years and now a 940 for the past year. I am absolutely spoiled by TBMs. Excellent machines. Definitely would be my first pick to fly around the world.
Hey Matt, don't forget...when ATC queries you regarding type aircraft, all they want is the 4-digit ICAO code so they can plug it into your data tag. In the case of the TBM-850, it's just "TBM9" (all the variants 700/850/900/910/930/940/960) use the same four-digit code of TBM9.
Swear this guys just disappears then pops up out of nowhere in a new plane we haven’t seen him fly doing something crazy ie flying round the world in it 😂😂 and somehow fit it all in a 25 min video 😮
Hey Matt, great vid!! Looking forward to the next legs! Quick question: could you give me your shortlist of memo words to remember the ceck lists for the TBM 850? Greatly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
Love your channel Matt - if you’re a Counting Crows fan (people either loved us or hated us), play some on your trip - I was the bass player on all the biggest records and singles from the 90’s. I’ll be watching as you travel the globe - keep up your great channel!
@@mattguthmiller lol awesome - I’m playing bass on that song and I co-wrote it. By contrast, I soloed a Cessna 150 on my 16th birthday in 1979. I was already playing bass so I skipped ground school and switched career paths. Thinking of getting my private pilots license now that I’m in my 60’s - due to inspiring channels like yours!
“Fuel is 30 gal low. Let’s go, and we’ll pull it back a little”. Later, “What’s this low fuel light about.” “No idea what these circuit breakers are, can’t read em”. Hop ya make it around the world.
Nah. Being an ass would be taking off knowing you are nigh on 100lbs short fuel. Do his insurers never watch his YT channel. Or is he hoping to film himself ditching for clicks?
@@johnqdoe yeah he did dickhead. And while on that trip he alienated normal Comms around the world. He stated while transiting the UK, that London airspace was the least congested air space in the UK.. Clearly bollocks!!
Been following you for a while, love the videos. I use acronyms all the time when I fly, but also back it up with a checklist- what’s your philosophy on checklist usage?
It is not because checklists are not necessary for safety, but checklists are edited out of almost every youtube aviation video because they too boring for viewers.
Wow, they put all that nice glass in during an annual! Looks really sweet, and was very nice of them!! I missed any chatter around how this project was happening. I did think it was a little strange using a legacy 850, all the upgrades makes more sense. The new tape on the outside makes it look like its smiling, like the 'Airbus Beluga". LOL Talking about fuel and performance, maybe a new 5 blade prop would help also? Very cool, thanks! Peace --gary
I take that back! I went and looked, it had the glass from the start. I must be thinking of another 850. 72, sucks to get old and forgetful. 8( Peace, gary
great flight, liking the new addition to the livery, is that a nod to Amazon with a bit of a smile, are they paying you, sponsoring or will you have topay them hehe - i will be watching this round trip as i did with the first, crikey, 10 years, thats gone by so fast, and the planes are getting bigger and faster, well done Matt

That was a hell of a readback at 11:32 without writing it down.
he must have a photographic memory
He started inputing it all as it was said. Readback order is always the same. Still impressive though - I always have to write it down 😂

He just had no idea what an S211 was
7:40 Love the wing cam. It really conveys the steepness of the turn. Cinematic.
Perfect timing, haven't seen a video in a minute. Awesome adventure.

So excited! Cant wait for the rest!
Oh yeah, off we go on another thrill packed adventure!

Hell yeah, ended up playing drums on Accidentally in Love for like five different things in high school

Check lists in use? Huge amount of planning to do a world circle. Rather amazing. At TBM speeds I didn't think a wing-mounted camera was possible.

He's a dickhead. A total maverick.
Horrible way to comment! That fact that you are maybe right, does not change that fact that the way you comment makes you a 🫏 🍑 People...🙄

He already went around the world chumpsky. He set a world record. This is just for kicks. “Skycop” amateur… pfft.

It’s been said the bonanza ace smiled once back in 13, or 14; probably just a rumor
I'd be interested to know why your harness tension tabs are on the inside and not facing out, thanks.
Looking forward to it but a little intro/ commentary would be good. And no forward-facing camera?

If there’s something on the checklist that’s not in the mnemonic, you need a better acronym :)
A what and a what are you flying 😂 Thumbs up 👍.
cool

Pulled in for fuel and saw your plane in Bozo hoping I was going to catch you! Next time!
i really wanna join on this trip!
Why do you wear your shoulder harnesses backwards
your shoulder straps should have the shiny metal on the outside..
Is that an Amazon logo?
i was thinking that too, dit of a nod to Amazon, are they sponsoring or will it be the other way round later hehe
Let me know if you are passing through Chiang Mai, Thailand. I'll take you out for a bowl of Northern Thai Khao Soi.
I think he prefers creme of sum yun gai
Great Job crew!!! Always look forward to new stuff safe travels!
systems and mission planning?
What jet is he flying side by side??????
"Stall"....."That's not good"...."Nah, it's just the gusts moving the sensor around"....."airspeed".... Ummm, Matt.
I promise we won’t stall (unintentionally)
What do you plan to do ? Will we see you in France during your tour ? 😁
life must be fun with money hm?
I would guess that you are navigating clear of Russia.
Why?
Why what?
