It's a nice video, but thank god for the modern MTB handlebars. It's like in 2005 with 650mm wide bars they didn't have MTB's or ride gnarly trails. Or... did they? 😜 The whole trends of wider handlebars is just a trend applicable to only those who ride downhill trails. In XC and typical daily MTB rides (not downhill trails) 650mm bars are plenty wide :) Keep up with quality content!

Got a question to anyone who knows please - you know the actual lower frame bush on older mountain bikes like this, the one just in front of the crank / bottom bracket, how do you get that out please? I need to replace mine because there's quite a lot of side to side play there. I've got basic tools and a tidy socket set.
I have a 20 year old bike i wanted to upgrade in the same ways you upgraded this one. Particularly the shocks and going to a 1x. My local shop essentially recommended a new bike. I am sentimental about this ole 26er and your video has inspired me to not get rid of it (2005ish Transition Preston FR)
Put to old fork full of dirt grease inside - that's absolutely unacceptable for bike repair specialist. All dirt will continue scratch fork inside. If you upgrade an old bike and try to be save on budget you should start with service of old components, because it's cheap and give a lot of effort, and than put some new parts. And suspension is one of the main part on this type of bikes. So amazed by this specialist. Can't help writing this message.
Agreed, also looks like he didn't bother setting up the air pressures for his buddy. Still a good friend hooking him up with the bike, but definitely need to properly service the suspension and set it up.
I would love to know what size front sprocket and which/what size chain used for this build! I’m going to try to do it myself and your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

why are you calling this bike as a piece of junk? Because it is old or even when it was first produced was a bad bike? As i see it, this frame is built like a tank. totall bomb proof. you don't see this kind of tubes in todays xc. Nice work by the way

1:40 oh yeah nice trick: just add some grease to the dust under seals on your old 20 years fork and you get the perfect abrasive.

I really regret not having lived a life that got me friends who would build a bike and just give it to me.
I dont know why but i love the look of the older dakar frames, i might need to do a restomod build with one at some point.

i did the same but put on a 29er, i had to sand the rear part to make it fit but was worth it jeje

Most bikes can be, if it has a freewheel it can not be, and it has to have a 11 speed hub to be 11 gears but yes most can be
