Wonderful video. Visited TV depot in Sheffield PA yesterday and that inspired me to do this search and found your videos. Why did your dad call his railroad Tionesta Valley?
We've been at it for about 5 years now. I checked out your video as well. There are a few places in the states that have dual gauge like that. I was impressed with your ground work for laying the roadbed. Looks very solid. Unfortunately I don't speak any German, so I didn't understand a word you said, but nice layout. Cheers!
@TheMrBlinx Thought about it, but the problem isn't really the snow, it's ice. you'd really be surprised how little water it takes to loose traction and create all sorts of problems getting home. There's just about a mile down, but it's set up as a loop, so really if you just take the shortest path, it's really only a couple minute walk.
We have "rented" the townpark of Leverkusen from the town. This solid roadbed was one of the terms of the town for our the permission of public traffic with passengers. regards Twingo
I'll see what I can do. I don't have a formal layout, and neither does Dad. I have a plan to run around it once with my GPS, but then I need to get it off the silly thing...
Ain't cheap... whatever gravel goes for out your way, then there's the ties which are 2x2 wolminized lumber, then the rail... Not sure what it's going for, but 50 cents a foot rings a bell. That's for aluminum, steel strap, which is some of this is based on scrap price. Then there's the engine and rolling stock. You can build your own or buy. I like build much more rewarding, plus a hell of a lot cheaper!
Very nice Layout. How long did you worked at it? Greetings from the Dampfbahn Leverkusen (Cologne / Germany). We have in Germany the so called "Tree-Track-Track" with five and 7,25 gauge united in one track. But our layout is much smaller than yours. But we are working at it.... :). We have permission to build the stuff in the whole townpark of Leverkusen.
Some, but I need to convert it. Some of it was taken with an analog camcorder vs my digital camera. That was pretty early on tech wise for us. Now I'm looking for a good digital camcorder. 2003 was the start of the road. Just out of curiosity, are you Craig Ferguson fan?
The road? Yeah in the summer time. These don't work very well in the winter. Level track, with and inch or two of snow, no big deal. You get a foot or two with ice, and put it on a 2-3% grade... you're walking back for the hook!
I just met Ted today... I'm a telephone technician, he told me about his career... The railroad looks fantastic! I have his number, I look forward to seeing it in person!!!
I would really like to know what format TH-cam uses so that I can upload a video and have it be watchable without all the garbled graphics. If you have some input, I'd really like to know. This looks horrible!!

He was kinda close to where it was, so called it the Tionesta Valley, Maple Creek subdivision.
That sure is a great loop you guys have. I like the scenery around the track and it seems really solid. Great yard too!
... this actually looks like a viable and productive right of way... outstanding!
Excellent video and railroad. Good job all around.
Thanks for the wonderful train ride. My family really enjoyed it so much. The gang from Bear Run.

Hey, great video and an amazing track. It must have taken a few years to build that layout. Do you have any more video of the steamer?
@TheMrBlinx working on the signals... switch motors are a little more involved. Not impossible, but getting power the whole way around is the trick.
We don't have a website currently. It is south of Marionville PA though. Thanks!
Where exactly is this? I fish up there and gotta a camp in Sheffield and a buddy has a camp in Mayburgh by the bridge.

Great logical way of transporting logs.
Yeah that would make for a neat scene... need a pond so there's a log loading point though.

as you can see, air is a good and clean source of energy.

This is absolutely awesome! I'm curious if you kept it going after your dad passed away.
I've not heard of Craig F! Well, you guys have put a lot of work into the track it looks great, any chance of seeing a plan of the layout?
Where and how does one even begin to purchase this type of equipment and materials?
In the yard when you picked up the spine cars are those spring switches??
@kleetus92 from where? i wanted to research the prices of feight cars and engines online but i can find it.

New track is in the works... along with some maintenance on the current.

do you guys have to make the couplers or its bought by some company?
Thanks!
How many acres did this take up?
Video's supposed to be 1080p, right now it's 240p, which is not an great quality.
That's rather odd... no idea why this is.
Awesome
Yeah, no doubt, it's not a cheap hobby!
