  • I know I know. Some of you have been wondering what the hell happened to my acting career (not to mention all of my acting related videos) so I thought I owed you an explanation.
In this video I'm pulling back the curtains on what went down in Vancouver (the good, the bad and the humiliating), why I came back to Australia, and what made me decide to stop acting altogether despite some epic wins while living in Canada.
Hope it's insightful and helps to close that loop ;) If you have any questions, drop them in the comments!

thank you so much for sharing your story Kat! I can really relate to what you said as I also wanted to to return to the states with a work visa back in 2020 but due to covid I never got the visa. it had completely changed my perspective on the career path I was heading or wanted to head towards. Hearing your words and say that 'you are allowed to change your mind' and 'always being able to go back to acting' eases the pressure that I feel of having/wanting to prove being on a "successful-acting-career-path". so thank you so much for sharing and admitting that what the industry is offering does not necessarily make an actor happy or fulfilled and that it is okay to not continue to act in this way but still remaining an actor nonetheless. I completely share your vision of finding a different way and reaching financial freedom to be able to return to acting on your own terms with true freedom! i'll probably reach out to you again soon for more help. ;)
    with much love from Switzerland
    xx jeannine

It's my pleasure. It feels so good to know that my story can actually help others in some way -- even if it's just to remind us all that we're not alone!! And wow - we definitely have some parallels to our journeys. So sorry to hear about you losing out on the visa. That dang virus has a lot to answer for! But I have a feeling that for those of us who are able to shift our perspective and grow as a result, our futures will be even brighter and more fulfilling than if things had "gone our way"! Thanks for the beautiful comment - please do stay in touch!! xx

I went to the New York Film Academy on 2005. My dream was to be a filmmaker. I moved to Austin where there is a small film community. I friends with great film crew members, know a few producers, etc. But during that time everything change, the film industry changed. I realized that if I have gone the traditional Hollywood path I would be miserable, plus is traditional way is dying. We have more power than ever to go on our own path with much better prospects. The old Hollywood is dead. I can build a business and finance my own small projects latter on. I can make my own small films and they don't even need to make money If I keep the cost low and let my business pay the bills. The future of content is online. The era of the content creator is here. We can have our own merch stores online, we can build our own small media company and we don't have to go through the toxic Hollywood ego culture.

Completely agree -- we're so lucky to be living in a time when building a platform of our own is so possible. Here's to living life on our terms and not having to compromise!

This story is inspiring and reassuring Kat. ❤ What I’ve learned is that you can pause acting and always come back to it. I’ve been here from the start and never left. And you have helped me a lot. Always inspiring to follow your journey and see where it goes! ❤

I resonate with you so much! I've said the some of the same things to myself like; nothing has to be permanent, just try, see where you go... etc. That was really reassuring to hear you say that. Thanks for opening up and sharing with us, yet again. You are a very special lady, I hope we meet in person one day!!

    Girl. I feel you.
I was cast in MIB International - scenes were cut
I was short listed for RED NOTICE, no time to get O1 visa (due to Christmas time and then covid) and 2 weeks before I found out it went to American actor, Chris Diamantopoulos
    Now I gave up.
Also because there are so many things I want to do and cant focus so I agree 100% with the "bridges"

Sorry to hear about your own acting career challenges, Lukas. It's tough! But I will say that when I did that work to figure out what I actually wanted out of my life ( 14:57 ) and that acting wasn't providing it, my entire perspective shifted which not only led to me being happier and more fulfilled than I've ever been, but also getting to experience a new level of success in the business because I was truly allowing myself to go all in. Wishing you all the best and hope you can find your version of that -- you deserve it!

I absolutely love this. I left LA acting for many of the same reason. Is waiter #1 really making and impact? Nope. A lot of these A-list actors/“philanthropists” are not even really “philanthropists” but cleverly placed for other reasons entirely. It’s so much more empowering to have YOUR own filter and control your time and goals on YOUR TERMS as you said. The Pandemic was a blessing.

Hello ma'am! so much inspired after watching your video. you made what you wanted to do! " Make someone fell a story". About me, I am in Indian boy with a great passion of acting. All my yt videos I've tried to put the best. Wanting to start a acting career in Vancouver. so, if you may suggest, what can be the best option to immigrate to the county as an international student or to go the tourist visa then convert it into work visa and then if I get some gigs - so work on that. Your valuable advice would mean a lot to me. really hoping for your response, thank you so much!!

@@KatElizabeth Thank you I'm even considering directing myself instead of getting one as Good film makers charge a very lot of money even for two day shorts. Idk if it's just best to pay money to a good director even though its cost alot.

    • @KatElizabeth
      @KatElizabeth  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@nelishalee2466 it honestly depends on your goals and existing resource as well as past experience. Also, there's a good chance there are some aspiring directors out there who'd be interested in collaborating to build their own portfolio -- so don't discount the idea of searching for a happy compromise :) There are a ton of FB groups plus websites like StarNow that help connect independent creatives.
