Great work! Another car I really love and look even better on those 20” wheels, this channel reads my mind I think. What will happen to this one when finished?
really enjoyed this vid, would have been nice to get some more detail on the replacement diesel pump, price of injectors ect, price, how many miles the donor vehicle had "supposedly" done, did it not need retiming, i`m no mechanic, but i thought it was a MAJOR job retiming a replacement diesel pump ? great vids, keep em coming.....😁😁
Thank you! 😊 The fuel pump was £260 Injectors were £220 Injector seals £10 I am not sure how many miles etc the parts had done as I got them from different suppliers, being a common rail high pressure pump it is advised on some to time them up where possible, but not all of them are set up like this. The pump just creates the pressure supply to the fuel rail and injectors. The injectors then control the fuel supply. I believe these are piezo electric injectors (a quick google will explain their function) We were lucky on this one as to where the fuel pump is situated, some cars can be really involved!
@@TurningSpannerz all i can say is it must be nice to have your level of knowledge, i get confused turning the light switch on and off in my front room...🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a general rule diesel common rail injector pumps don't need timing - they just constantly fill the high pressure rail(s) with fuel - what isn't injected and combusted goes back to the tank. The valve to return excess fuel could be in/on the pump or the rails or on the injectors. Some VAG direct injection petrol engines are a bit different - there is no return of fuel to the tank - the high pressure pump asks the in tank pump for varying levels of fuel - so when you close your throttle, the low pressure pump is shut off and the fuel in the high pressure lines is looped around.
I bought a new diesel vehicle in 2011. To cure the problem of low lubricity fuel, I run 200:1 two stroke oil in every tank of diesel, that cures the low lubricity problem.
Wow! a gallon!! 😊 I did wonder when my pronunciation would be questioned 🤣 its the same with the Vw Tiguan. Maybe one day we will have a Hyundai on the channel 😁
Where you buy them is not the issue. It’s WHAT you buy.

Very Nice! Hello ! From Romania🇹🇩! Buy the next car Mercedes Benz E -Class 🙏😂✋💪
When I started driving in 1964 I could get 4 gallons of Jet petrol for under £1-00. In today's money it is 99p.

Mechanical diesel yes, high pressure common rail it's easier than fitting a timing belt for the most part.

Well done !!is it an auto ?
Thank you! Yes this one is an Auto.
Think I might avoid the VW Towrag as my next car? I take it VW never did a recall for the pumps?
Given that the problem was diesel pump disintegration due to modern fuel how long before replacement goes the same way.

When I started driving fuel was sold in imp gallons at £1.26 a gallon! PS Twureg not toureg :D
