For that one Facebook post, I think it is trying to say “If they can differentiate between your children and your maid, you’re not Christian.” Which, grossly, has the implication that children should do all of the work around the house without compensation.
Edit: To all of the people that have faith in humanity, I would also like to translate it as “take care of your staff.” However, due to the nature of this video, there is a much more likely that the person in question is not referring to “treat people with basic human decency” and more along the lines of “children are unworthy of respect and therefore undeserving of pay.”

The maid thing was about our child cleaning everything. They shouldn’t have a free time or a childhood. They should keep the house clean and keep their mouths shut, like a maid. That thought process makes me sad and I pity everyone in a house hold like that. That’s all. Now have a good day/night and drink some water! I hear that’s healthy.

“if they can’t tell the difference between a child and a maid, then you’re not a real christian”
oh gods, i got flashbacks to my childhood. what it’s saying in that post is that christian parents need to overwork their children and be obedient without fault. no pay. no nothing. it’s a pretty toxic mindset. my parents are Christian, and i remember when I was around seven or so, my mom forced me to do “labor” around the house ( clean the entire house, pull weeds, clean the dishes, make her food, etc. ). I was around seven. at that age, I had the balls to ask her why I was doing this and if I had done something wrong. my mother’s response?: “your father and I had you to be our maid, because child labor is illegal. god says that you have to do everything we say.” even though they were ( somewhat ) joking, at seven years old, I wasn’t very receptive when it came to jokes like that. not to mention when I was six, my mom kicked me out to the front porch after telling me she was calling an adoption agency because I was an “unruly child”.
in short: it’s not a good thing.

Regarding that post about selling the child's toy because they wouldn't clean their room:
Once when I was a kid and came home from school I realized that my room was cleaned, but most of my toys and other stuff was missing. I asked my (now former) stepdad where they were. I was horrified to hear that he had bagged them all up, taken them to the dump and thrown them away. All because I had refused to clean my room the day prior. So much stuff was gone. So many lego sets, train tracks and action figures. He had also just dumped everything on my desk in to a bag, which included stuff that belonged there like my pens and such, but also drawings and stories I had been writing. All of it was gone. This was also close to my birthday, so a bunch of my new toys I had gotten as presents were gone too. I was distraught. My mom did her best to comfort me about it, apparently she had not been aware of his plans.
The silver lining is that years later (we're talking like 4-5 years) when we were moving, we found my stuff. My mom had divorced the asshole by then, but it turns out that he had never actually thrown it out, he just hid it away in the attic. I am guessing he just wanted me to learn a lesson or something. But he never gave me that stuff back. I continued to live there for at least three years, and he never mentioned "hey, by the way, your toys are in the attic I didn't actually throw them out." It's possible that he planned on doing that, but he just forgot. Being drunk every day that ends with a "y" will do that to your brain.
The sad news is that by the time I got those toys back, I had outgrown most of them.
My mom met the guy again years after this while she was with her new husband and she told me that he had aged horribly and looked like shit. So she got some closure over the abusive asshole. But if I met him again I can't say with certainty if I could refrain from punching him in the throat. Not just from the toy-thing obviously. He was abusive in so many ways.

@@sophiathefurbst You don't have to apologise for not knowing something or asking questions! You don't know what you don't know.
The term "pro-ana" is shorthand for "pro-anorexia", and it refers to a... subculture(? for lack of a better word) within people with eating disorders (ED) to basically encourage each other to keep the disordered behaviours going. It started with hidden online forums, and then groups found each other locally and started meeting in person as well. The encouragement of disordered behaviours often centres around these pro-ana mottos or catchphrases.
It's very easy to judge these groups from the outside, but having an ED is already incredibly isolating; how much of everyday social interaction is centred around food - grabbing a coffee together, going out for lunch, meeting up at a bar, etc. People often don't get why people engage in these disordered eating patterns and how hard it is to quit the behaviours, so they can say some pretty ignorant, hurtful things. These pro-ana groups are often a source of community and social interaction for people with EDs.

Just loaning them out for free labour is taking advantage. All that will teach them is that their hard work is owed, not exchanged, and it might even condition them to be vulnerable to predatory employers in the future. 4:14 Hey One Topic. What they mean with that, is that they treat their kids like their own personal servants. They make you do the chores, take out the trash, do tasks around the house that need to be done and make you do everything. That sounds not that bad at first, but what they also make you do is little ridicilous tasks, like they call you across the house to come to the living room only to pass them the remote that is 2 feets away from them because they do not want to stand up. They let you make them snacks and bring it to them. They let you search for something that they are looking for, but do not search it themselfs. Basically you are a Buttler/Maid and you must be always ready when they call you to fulfill their every wish.

Thanks for the more wholesome ending to this one, it normally takes me a few days to get around to these ones because I find r/insaneparents quite stressful, due to my upbringing, but I watch them anyway because they help me work through some stuff and your beaming smiles and sense of humour helps with that immensely.

4:09 i think what they mean is "if you can tell the difference between your children and a maid you arent a real Christian" which is them basically saying their childrens only reason of life is to take care if the parents and keep the living area spotless (and possibly cooking)

  • @thymebutter2556

I'm pretty sure that they mean if you don't treat your child like a maid (if you cannot tell the difference between your child and a maid) you ain't a christian or something.
And they probably don't mean people that you pay well and who help around the house. Think of people probably forced to clean your house and mistreated. Like older stereotypes (I have no idea if stereotypes is the right word or not, but hopefully you know what I mean)

I recently found out about your channel. This afternoon I binged all (or most) of your InsaneParents videos, and I didn't know how much I needed this lol! I didn't expect that hearing toxic parents dubbed with a silly voice would feel so therapeutic, after all I've tried. Also the maturity and calmness of some of the children's answers blows my mind. To know cognitively that those toxic family members make no sense and aren't to be taken seriously is one thing, but not getting viscerally triggered by them or stuff that reminds me of them has been a challenge for me so far... With your videos, however, I can't stop giggling! This is good stuff, thank you for making them!

9:05 My atheist self who had an atheist dad shaking my head as listen to. Me also being a trans punk growing up with all kinds of rock music and punk things:
Very happy, polite, well mannered, never smoked or did drugs, and in college so I can get a good job.
(Ok I actually tried weed. Not the biggest fan of it, turns out I’m a ‘panickier’. But it’s impossible to overdose or be harmed by weed anyway.)

13:00 reminds me of when my work had me in the client's home and their teenage child and said child's similarly-aged friend come running inside begging me to squish a spider in the shed out back. I find a swiffer so that I have a firm swatting surface and good reach to get to whatever nook or cranny the spider's set up in and head out to the shed. They point to where they saw it, and I see it too.
It was already dead. It was very clearly already dead. it was curled up, shriveled up, dangling from the web by one leg, and not moving even when you poked it. I knocked it down and crushed it and it didn't even squish, it had been dead for long enough to desiccate (assuming that this wasn't just a cast-off exoskeleton).

I've only recently realized that I probably suffer from body dysmorphia, mainly because the people around me are so diet-frenzied but do next to nothing to actually practice healthy habits. One person in particular is pretty nasty about people's weight (has been all my life), to the point where I hate my own body.
I don't know if I'll ever love my body the way it is, but I don't really care. There are more pressing matters on my mind than what they think. Just needed to get this off my chest. 😩😩😩

4:20 Ithink that the 《btw》 was useless/accidentally put there, and removing it, what I understood from the rest is that in order to ba a good Christian you have to treat your childern like your maid.
It doesn't make much sense and is a very wierd thing to believe in my opinion but then again this is the -insane parents- subreddit
