The creators hated this version of the show because they were being pushed into getting it more "Political" and "South Park" like about their satire. So, yeah. MatPat got it right from a 20 seconds trailer.

What is weird about this trailer is that they have their original colors instead of their favorite colors. Does that mean their "real life" colors are these ones and the colors they used at the end of DHMIS are like fantasies?
Perhaps the color change in episode 6 wasn't real, but a change in the perception characters had over themselves. Yes, they have colors, but in their mind they are free to exist under their own parameters and thus they see themselves as what they are now, free

im supporting MatPat on this, but i think that after Duck shows everyone the trashed mayor's office, the mayor comes back, but Duck makes everyone believe that Red guy killed the mayor and the actual mayor that came back is a fake. so everyone is clayhill banishes red guy and the real mayor, leaving them stranded, and having Duck in full control, everyone not knowing he will destroy their reality before they know it. but thats just some dumb thing i made up. so dont take this TOO seriously.
I don't care if this theory turns out to be wrong or not. The fact that the film theory crew was able to take 30 SECONDS OF PRACTICALLY NOTHING AND FIGURE OUT THE ENTIRE (possible) PLOT of the next episode is legendary!!! I applaud all you guys👏, amazing job!!!
Being a detective and being an anlizer of a video is very different. These videos take time, editing, and many play backs and changing of theory until mat feels it is good and maybe his editing team. Then says it
Question, so in the first season at the end, they were their favorite colors blue, green and red. Why aren’t they those same colors now.. maybe Roy is behind all of this, or the duck is working with Roy, which would explain why red guy is locked out of the city, Roy is trying to get back at him for ‘pulling the plug’. And Roy brain washed the duck into thinking that red guy is what’s putting Clayhill in danger. You’re guess is that yellow guy is the only one who could stop the duck. Which I agree. Notice that yellow guy is the only one who looks different, he has a pink Mohawk, but duck and red guy look the same as they did before when they were being controlled by Roy, maybe because they are still being controlled by Roy. Duck becoming mayor and believing that red guy is what’s dangerous for clayhill (because he’s brainwashed by Roy into thinking that, I mean why would he think that on his own? red guy and duck were co stars in the previous season, if duck believed that red guy was dangerous then he wouldn’t have worked with him in the previous season on the show they were on.) And Roy is controlling red guys by framing him and making it seem that he’s dangerous. Maybe that’s why we didn’t see him in the 20 second trailer of wakey wakey, because if we did, it would be obvious to us that he’s the one behind all of this.
A thing to add on to that, maybe Roy murdered the mayor and put red guys scarf In the crime scene to make duck think that red guy is the murderer. I mean, who else would he frame? Red guy pulled the plug on him. Roy takes advantage of duck and makes him mayor whilst also making him paranoid and pessimistic. Because of this duck feels that Roy is the only safe one when in reality, is the evil mastermind behind it all. The rest is left for matpat and the dhmis crew.
11:20 hes discovered himself because he's an adult. look at his birthday badge at 3:45 and how he's discovered his style (pink hair). He now has the power to make decisions for himself. I wounder if he'll choose to stay?
Older age doesn't mean he's found himself, but it does mean he has more independence and ability to experience life as he wants He definitely seems to have control over his decisions, so it'll be interesting to see what he does with that for sure

i totally agree with film theory’s plot explanation, my only additional anecdote is that something mat didnt point out is that the mayor is standing next to red guy. im having a feeling duck guy wanted a sense of authority and since he was free in this new season, he could do it!
continuing my previous comment coz of word limit, the part where he discovers the crime scene may have been his imaginary layout of how he explained the crime to the people of clayville. he wanted power and because red guy is sorta the producer, he had to frame him and hence set up a crime scene and kicked the mayor out on purpose, staging the whole crime
continuing again, red guy is prob gonna find the mayor and realise duck guy’s plan and maybe throughout the episode/series (depending on if this pilot lore is hinting towards the whole series’ plot or just the first episode of the new season) will work with mayor to communicate with yellow guy to persuade him to stop duck guy and maybe even help him in some way such as guiding him through security or smth

yellow guys special one was never established as real, she was in a thought bubble and never interacted with the 'real' world. Also, I have a feeling that the reason yellow guy's dad kept torturing him was because yellow guy showed interest in boys instead of girls. I was at school when I saw it and began hyperventilating. I tried to explain why to my best friend awkwardly- turns out she knew what DHMIS already was.
I dont know if it has already been thought of but theory: This was all roy. Everything. For starters, everyone is the same colours as the original series not the final scene signifying that roy has regained control. Sexond roy had control of the props thereby he knew where red guys scarf would be. ROY killed the mayor and planted the scarf to make it seem like it was red guy, possibly due to roy realising red guy is trying to leave his clutches and so plays a defensive towards yellow guy and, most importantly, duck. He used duck as pawn for his plans to take over clayhill and portray red guy as the evil one not him and the story arch is red guy tying to regain trust with yellow guy and the rest of clayhill to take down duck and in tern roy. Just an idea. EDIT: Ngl this was just something I thought of 'off the hook' you could say, I didnt think that people would discuss it so thanks I guess and now I look back to it yes there was quite a few holes in this theory. Great theory but about the mayor when Red Guy is out of town after Duck took over who is Red Guy standing with? I think it's the mayor because on the picture frame in the mayor's office he had hair on the sides of his head, the head is also in a round like shape but not like other heads of the characters, and the man outside of town with Red Guy he had hair on the sides of his head and a head that looked alot like the mayors.
TheWantedNews 311 yes I think red guy went out, found the mayor without his friends, and came back to a locked town because Duck believed he was keeping bad guys out while red guy was only worried for the mayor... maybe the key made him believe red guy and the real mayor were bad by saying they didn’t want the town safe or something, because the key wasn’t worried about anything except locking ‘bad guys out’ but instead locked everyone in. Maybe Roy sent the key to make sure no one leaves.....
Yeah, even if he's wrong he made a very convincing case so he could even defend someone who's guilty which is not an easy thing to do and if he's right then he's damn good at putting the pieces together
It can be that mayor was lost for so long that he has grown old. Then the Red Guy finds him in the forest and they go back to the Clayhill but then they see that Duck has implemented a dictatorship and put the city in a lockdown. But that's just a guess. An idiotic guess.
this also could be a reference to the way independent videos platforms have changed over the years, with TH-cam being the computer systems that the duck is hooked into. If the duck is instead representing a change in leadership of the TH-cam ship and the choices made for the 'safety' users, this would explain why the red guy is on the outside as he is a victim of DEMONETISATION and as such has been forced out of the system. which isn't too crazy if the original series is red guy's, it would flag on most if YT's systems. the Wakey Wakey could be a call for the new generation to realise that the "free" entertainment space is actually being controlled and the feeds of information that you receive are specialised to get you to conform to the new system. all the while this system is being corrupted by advertisers and sponsors just as the original series was by Roy. warning us to act now before it is too late and there is no longer any escape, or that we are already at that point and we can't fight it anymore so should just deal with it or pull the plug. this aligns better with the fact that the original was about the state of media in the days of TV, this is it's current state, where even DHMIS has backers, and companies who could effect it's message, for the production of a sequel no doubt. dark: yes, conspiracy: yes, approved by MatPat: find out next time on THE FILM THEORY. thanks for reading. annnnddd .
I love this theory so much more. It fits more into the DHMIS theme rather than a political message. The idea that they joined up with companies to make this felt like it was going off what DHMIS stood for, this fits so much better

The initial run of DHMIS seemed to specifically be about corporate influence in children's educational programming - DHMIS (the actual youtube series) is not children's program, they're not claiming to be educational. DHMIS is entertainment so it's not really ironic or hypocritical. Also as far as corporate production companies go, these are some that allow a fair amount of creative freedom it seems, at least from the outside looking in.

I spent 40 minutes digging up clips of the lost pilot before watching this theory. Bro got it pretty much ALL THE WAY right from a 30 second trailer Wild.
SPOILERS There was leaked footage of this new series. And surprisngly Matt Patt's video is close. Everyone sings the Wakey Wakey song and when they cue the Mayor he is gone. Duck investigates and they find that he is gone. The trio searches the office and they find the Key. The Key goes off topic and breaks into a song. Duck and Yellow Guy are distracted so Red Guy leaves town to find him. Duck becomes the mayor and Yellow Guy leaves because Key melted a present that held a puppy (its Yellow Guy's birthday) and Key deceives Duck thinking that there are sinister people and the town needs to be protected. Meanwhile Red Guy ventures to a forest and finds the Mayor who left for currently unknown reasons. Back at the town, Yellow Guy meets a new punk character who wants to go against Duck and gets Yellow Guy to become a Punk. Yellow Guy gets overboard and spray paints over a poster of Duck, and it catches the punk character off guard.

Well, by focusing on the sponsors, I think DHMIS will be able to keep their message intact. The sponsors don't seem to really care about who they upset.
Just to say, Matpat, someone recorded some of the pilot episode for Wakey Wakey, but, near the end, there isn’t any footage, just pictures and someon explaining. The video is somewhat small, but, it’s still able to be seen, and the footage is somewhat bad, but, it’s still viewable.
Are we gonna ignore the fact that there was a cat with a top hat next to the red guy when he was looking into the locked up town and that same cat is in a picture with the old mayor that was killed and the cat knows what happened to the mayor and helps out the red guy to fight the duck

Question, so in the first season at the end, they were their favorite colors blue, green and red. Why aren’t they those same colors now.. maybe Roy is behind all of this, or the duck is working with Roy, which would explain why red guy is locked out of the city, Roy is trying to get back at him for ‘pulling the plug’. And Roy brain washed the duck into thinking that red guy is what’s putting Clayhill in danger. You’re guess is that yellow guy is the only one who could stop the duck. Which I agree. Notice that yellow guy is the only one who looks different, he has a pink Mohawk, but duck and red guy look the same as they did before when they were being controlled by Roy, maybe because they are still being controlled by Roy. Duck becoming mayor and believing that red guy is what’s dangerous for clayhill (because he’s brainwashed by Roy into thinking that, I mean why would he think that on his own? red guy and duck were co stars in the previous season, if duck believed that red guy was dangerous then he wouldn’t have worked with him in the previous season on the show they were on.) And Roy is controlling red guys by framing him and making it seem that he’s dangerous. Maybe that’s why we didn’t see him in the 20 second trailer of wakey wakey, because if we did, it would be obvious to us that he’s the one behind all of this.

A thing to add on to that, maybe Roy murdered the mayor and put red guys scarf In the crime scene to make duck think that red guy is the murderer. I mean, who else would he frame? Red guy pulled the plug on him. Roy takes advantage of duck and makes him mayor whilst also making him paranoid and pessimistic. Because of this duck feels that Roy is the only safe one when in reality, is the evil mastermind behind it all. The rest is left for matpat and the dhmis crew.

continuing my previous comment coz of word limit, the part where he discovers the crime scene may have been his imaginary layout of how he explained the crime to the people of clayville. he wanted power and because red guy is sorta the producer, he had to frame him and hence set up a crime scene and kicked the mayor out on purpose, staging the whole crime
continuing again, red guy is prob gonna find the mayor and realise duck guy’s plan and maybe throughout the episode/series (depending on if this pilot lore is hinting towards the whole series’ plot or just the first episode of the new season) will work with mayor to communicate with yellow guy to persuade him to stop duck guy and maybe even help him in some way such as guiding him through security or smth

This was all roy. Everything. For starters, everyone is the same colours as the original series not the final scene signifying that roy has regained control. Sexond roy had control of the props thereby he knew where red guys scarf would be. ROY killed the mayor and planted the scarf to make it seem like it was red guy, possibly due to roy realising red guy is trying to leave his clutches and so plays a defensive towards yellow guy and, most importantly, duck. He used duck as pawn for his plans to take over clayhill and portray red guy as the evil one not him and the story arch is red guy tying to regain trust with yellow guy and the rest of clayhill to take down duck and in tern roy. Just an idea.
EDIT: Ngl this was just something I thought of 'off the hook' you could say, I didnt think that people would discuss it so thanks I guess and now I look back to it yes there was quite a few holes in this theory. Either way cheers for all the feedback.
Great theory but about the mayor when Red Guy is out of town after Duck took over who is Red Guy standing with? I think it's the mayor because on the picture frame in the mayor's office he had hair on the sides of his head, the head is also in a round like shape but not like other heads of the characters, and the man outside of town with Red Guy he had hair on the sides of his head and a head that looked alot like the mayors.

If the duck is instead representing a change in leadership of the TH-cam ship and the choices made for the 'safety' users, this would explain why the red guy is on the outside as he is a victim of DEMONETISATION and as such has been forced out of the system. which isn't too crazy if the original series is red guy's, it would flag on most if YT's systems. the Wakey Wakey could be a call for the new generation to realise that the "free" entertainment space is actually being controlled and the feeds of information that you receive are specialised to get you to conform to the new system. all the while this system is being corrupted by advertisers and sponsors just as the original series was by Roy. warning us to act now before it is too late and there is no longer any escape, or that we are already at that point and we can't fight it anymore so should just deal with it or pull the plug. this aligns better with the fact that the original was about the state of media in the days of TV, this is it's current state, where even DHMIS has backers, and companies who could effect it's message, for the production of a sequel no doubt.

The initial run of DHMIS seemed to specifically be about corporate influence in children's educational programming - DHMIS (the actual youtube series) is not children's program, they're not claiming to be educational. DHMIS is entertainment so it's not really ironic or hypocritical.
Also as far as corporate production companies go, these are some that allow a fair amount of creative freedom it seems, at least from the outside looking in.

I spent 40 minutes digging up clips of the lost pilot before watching this theory. Bro got it pretty much ALL THE WAY right from a 30 second trailer Wild.
SPOILERS
There was leaked footage of this new series. And surprisngly Matt Patt's video is close. Everyone sings the Wakey Wakey song and when they cue the Mayor he is gone. Duck investigates and they find that he is gone. The trio searches the office and they find the Key. The Key goes off topic and breaks into a song. Duck and Yellow Guy are distracted so Red Guy leaves town to find him.
Duck becomes the mayor and Yellow Guy leaves because Key melted a present that held a puppy (its Yellow Guy's birthday) and Key deceives Duck thinking that there are sinister people and the town needs to be protected.
Meanwhile Red Guy ventures to a forest and finds the Mayor who left for currently unknown reasons. Back at the town, Yellow Guy meets a new punk character who wants to go against Duck and gets Yellow Guy to become a Punk. Yellow Guy gets overboard and spray paints over a poster of Duck, and it catches the punk character off guard.
