      Definitely, I ended up having to employ a lot of Victoria‘s training techniques with my rescue husky. Every training we had tried with her failed, but when we started using Victoria‘s techniques we started getting results slowly but surely. The biggest problem with the Husky is she switch is what she likes to eat. This can be really problematic for high value rewards. lol

      Have you considered just stopping? Just don't move toward whatever she wants to get to, until she stops pulling and screaming?
      I mean, it may take a while - but she's been rewarded for pulling and screaming, it's gotten her what she wants in the past. So it may take a while for her to realize it's not working anymore and figuring out what will work now.

    We have since 2 weeks a puppy (already have an adult dog), people are so surprised when we bring the puppy to stores, train stations, etc and that he walks really good without pulling.
    We are like: well if we want to behave him as perfect as our other dog we have to start training from the beginning. also a young puppy is like: omg everything is so fun. So it's much easier to learn it stuff and prepare it for things that can be scary before it even becomes a problem. Like firework for example.
    People forget that the puppy period is the most important period to learn dogs the basics and how to behave around people and other dogs/animals

    • @untamed_seal
      @untamed_seal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The most important for a puppy is to properly socialize them. You can teach them obedience later in life so socializing is really important. Also, letting a puppy pull on the leash, letting them explore is a great way to make them more confident 👌

    My dog dgaf about food or treats, and toys make her excited. The turning around when she pulls also doesn't do much (we've been trying this method for a year), I really have no idea how to stop her pulling since she just gets so excited when she's walking, especially if we are going somewhere she loves, like the park. Sigh.

    • @darkcreatureinadarkroom1617
      @darkcreatureinadarkroom1617 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Have you tried just stopping in your tracks and waiting for your dog to calm down before resuming walking? After a few tries they get the hint. I did this with a foster once and had good results (granted, she is a very clever girl). Also it seems your dog is toy-motivated, but do all toys motivate her all the same? Victoria mentioned in one video that if a reward excites a dog too much then you need to find a lower value reward (otherwise they get too focused on that instead of you).

      The part where Victoria teaches them that the dogs aren't allowed to go on the sofa nor the bed reinforces good behaviour outside so they can be more relaxed and focused on the owner... if you only do the street thing or the home thing the other problem will remain...

    The dogs look utterly puzzled. They have zero idea why they are being kept off the bed. Dog owners attribute great intelligence in dogs, but in fact they are more masses of impulses. They like the treats and they don't understand why things are changing - but they'refine as long as you keep those treats coming.
    All giving treats does is play into dogs natural greed. They are natural scavengers. There's nothing pretty about their habits.
