They apparently told Perry they didn’t have enough footage for a feature film but had enough behind the scenes prank footage for a documentary in which they would all equally star in and it’s basically where Perry argued to still be the star so he realized the pranks were mostly going to be on him. It’s a jumble but it’s mostly a very gullible guy who really loves any attention whatsoever and his friend who know how to manipulate him and enough people involved that he probably thought “this all can’t just be for a prank on me”
