Great video. As someone who works for IBM and buys these at an awesome discount, it's nice to have a video to follow. BTW, for the replier, I am smart enough to know that if I were going to put it back together, to put the scews in seperate containers. In and of itself, its a great dissassembly video to follow so thanks again!

I hope to buy a 2.4Ghz. R400 tonight, after midnight.
    A new credit card cycle.
    It has 2GB RAM.
I might up it to 4GB.
Machine will be used with Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
like my late 2009 2.53Ghz. Mac Mini.
    Thanks for the instructive video.

Only 14+ hours from Nashua, NH, to Elk Grove Village UPS Center,
      Despite blizzards at both ends…
But I was out to lunch at 12:35PM, today..
Expecting more like a 5:30 or 6:30 delivery, as normal….
So I have to hoof it over to my local PO to pick it up.
The R400 was $29.95 on eBay from crtrelecteronics, in a S. Boston suburb..
      $14 standard USPS shipping.
They have another R400, in cleaner condition, for $39.95….
      Mine is:
      2.4Ghz. Core 2 Duo
      4GB RAM.
No HDD, but has the caddy…
I have a 40GB SATA drive to go right in.
Plenty big enough for the Ubuntu 14.04 LTS that on it.
NO Windoze here, never will be.
A Mac user, but Core 2 Duo MacBooks are WAY too expensive.
I even have a brand new power supply.
Was sent the wrong one for my older $22 thrift store find IBM R51 and $43 eBay IBM R52…
Seller refunded the $10 but didn't want it back.
We have some great people on eBay.
I have a late 2009 Mac Mini 2.53Ghz. 4GB RAM as my main computer.
Given to me by a blind Mac Club member..
I USED to recycle donated Macs through a mental health outfit, here in Chicago.
      1997 -2008…. to worthies..
      Lost to politics..
I need the Core 2 Duo for OpenGL
      For Stellarium…
The older IBM Pentium's do not support it..
      Cheers, everyone!

Actually, for Lenovo laptops (at least the Thinkpad business series), there is a hardware maintenance manual on the Lenovo support website, which shows the exact steps - and the order in which to take them! - do disassemble each Thinkpad T-, R-, W- and X-Series model (I don't know about the Edge and L/SL-Series though, since these are more of a consumer category device). From watching your video, I guess you did not consult this manual ;-)

once, I was stuck with some hp keyboard, some probook series. I was going in circles trying carefully remove this keyboard... and I watched a video on HP site! Dude in this video removed this keyboard so easy, but it was not that easy in life. Looks like they are prepared to make a nice video there and it is far away from reality.

    Hi,
fan error is probably because of dirty fan/heat sink or just because of this fan. White cable is a wifi antenna cable.

  • @regazzz
    @regazzz  11 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey Dave, I took hard drive out of it's caddy just because I always do that in this type of videos, not to show this electric screw driver few more times, just because this is a video how to take it completely apart.
There are also antistatic wrist band that not grounded, and so on... some other problems.
I hope if you will fix your laptop, you will be prepared and remember where all screws and cables coming from.
And I hope you will get it back together.

Hello friend, how are you? I'm having a hard time finding references about the slots available on this motherboard. It has a slot below the processor, would it be a msata ssd? The slot just above the memories would be a wifi card? I have already performed this procedure on other devices by removing the wwan card and inserting a msata ssd, but there is this slot below the processor that is exactly the same size. Can you tell me or give me some reference that I can consult exactly what is each available slot on this board? I'm waiting. Hugs

Hi, thanks for a comment :)
And you are right, people shouldn't use a drill, people should use a wired anti static band and ...
do you want to see a real "amateur hour", find a video where someone sits in a pajamas on the carpet floor and without any (gosh, at least any) antistatic band taking his poor laptop apart ... what a show.
Also find another channel (whole channel yeah) they sell parts via their site and PR it via channel...
they use a drill too and they don't where any antistatic. ;-)

    • @regazzz
      @regazzz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

I don't solder much, not very good at it, but this is one of the things I want to learn some day. (Probably when I will retire, means never) :-)
I had a boss once who was soldering and on one of the laptops where the fuse was blown at the DC jack, he just did some sort of bridge that it started to work without a fuse. Maybe it could work in your case too, it is not a DC jack, so shouldn't be too bad, right? and on the other hand there are always used motherboards on eBay...

The BEST thing about my "new" 2009 R400 is that the 2.4Ghz. Core 2 Duo supports OpenGL.
Allowing me to use "Stellarium" out doors, at the telescope.
My older IBM R52 and R52 Pentium M's did not…..
The R400 also supports Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
    The IBM's only want Ubuntu 12.04 LTS…
    Max...

That anti-static wrist band doesn't do a thing without the grounding wire hooked up. I wouldn't let this joker work on my laptop with that power tool stripping out screws at a fantastic rate. Do you hear the thunk-thunk-thunk as every screw comes loose and some he keeps the tool spinning while moving from screw to screw? Its amateur hour here on youtube.

    I also found both a whole R61i 15.4" and a parts machine
R61 15.4", both on eBay, for peanuts.
The "i" has no TouchPad.... only the red mushroom thingy.
A STUPID idea from Lenovo to save a little money.
But I've built TWO complete machines, for less than
a newer R500 would be there.
Yet matches my R400, performance wise.
    And I found a 2.4Ghz. 4M C2D for the R61
    A 2.0Ghz. 4M C2D for the R61i.
    For peanuts, yet again.
    discountedlaptopparts of South Florida
    advertises IBM parts on eBay.
    ALWAYS the lowest prices.
    Adequate service, quick shipping.
But this month I'm going to EAT!
    I have 5 IBM's now
    R51, R52, R61, R61i and the Lenovo R400..
    The R51 now supports OpenGL
    With a 2.13Ghz. Pentium M/
The R51 does not support OpenGL
    1.8Gzh. Pentium M..
    Slower bus... I guess.
    Cheers.

Put in the most RAM you can, 8GB
The fastest Core 2Duo CPU, probably 2.53Ghz.
      $20-$30 on eBay.

This video is stupid! There is absolutely no thought to getting the laptop back together again, otherwise, s/he might creatively has an 18 or 24 egg carton and put the removed screws and other parts sequentially in the egg so that the process could have been put back in reverse sequence, rather than scattered miscellaneously anywhere there is space on te table! The title is somewhat misleading, which seems to imply perhaps a specific goal related to the video, but since not parts are labeled and everything is completely disassembled, who and why would anyone EVER want to do this? Forget it! Lenovo, as Seegal (below?) points out, download the hardware maintenance manual and address a specific problem, not ending with the randomly strewn parts across a table!!!

Do NOT unplug the CMOS Battery!
Or you just bought another logic board.
Mobeo EEPROM code will give you a Black Screen with blinking.
    Padlock prompt.
Wanting a code or password YOU will not have.
TRY IT and you WILL be sorry.

I don't see a real reason to even use a anti-static wrist band .Just make sure you touch something grounded. . Also don't put hardware ontop of a antistatic bag.

Depends on just which MacBook you are trying to get into.
And just which ThinkPad you are doing the same, with.
Such generalizations are USELESS, real world.
