I'm a 55+ year old man that is just starting as a sewing enthusiast. I just want to say that I really enjoy your way of delivering the information. You're knowledgeable, funny and thorough. Thanks.
You are so utterly competent.....I respect your skills immensely! I have 15 blazers sleeves to shorten. Watching you has given me confidence that I can get through it. Thank you.
This is FANTASTIC! Clear. Straight-forward. A “must” to avoid miscommunication and mistakes. 👏❤️👏. Upcoming topics: major fabric types/names with examples, parts of a suit jacket (women’s or men’s), types of pleats, parts of trousers, etc. Love the channel! ❤
the sewing term that had me in a chokehold for YEARS were facings. I couldn't find any clear definitions of what it was, why I needed it, and what they looked like.
Love the channel, and informative videos. While I taught myself to sew years ago, I struggle with where or how to alter garments (governments lol) to fit properly. Maybe a video on fitting would be a huge undertaking, but I'd love to see one. Thanks for sharing you skills.
JUST STARTING to learn to sew.... my question is, with hemming something( I'M very short 5'1) Bought some pants, that unfortunately are MEANT to be hemmed... but I'm wondering if they are flared athletic wear, should I make the back shorter than the front panel by a little bit, so it flows over my shoes. That's just how I'm picturing it? Instead of straight across which may look more boot cut compared to flare?? I guess there are semi- no rules.. but does that make sense?
"Congratulation to you and your hubby" My question is when you're buying ready to wear tops or dresses and your bust fall below the darts on the dress how can you correct that?
Genuine inquiry: if the waist is the slimmest portion of my body, but I don't wear my pants at that location, what is the purpose of measuring it rather the the location where my pants actually sit?
You’re right, I need to do a little update/insert as this measurement often proportionally applies to women but not always men. You should, as you said, measure where you wear your pants for the purpose of a pant waist number.
Great question; it’s my very favorite ironing tool, it’s a little ham shaped dense dome with rounded sides that allows you to mold fabric as you are pressing it. I’ve got one linked here in our tools list: Tailor's Top Picks for Tools: amzn.to/3MTgbwm
I have to wonder about gender specific measurements. Like neck for men at the adams apple and natural waist for a beer belly man is not the smallest part. Lol
Since the collar of a shirt will sit under the Adams apple, I would go just barely below when I take the measurement. For the beer belly; probably best to just go off of where he wears the pants!

Love your teachings
Love this video! What do you call the fabric tucked up inside pants after they are hemmed? I also hear this called "cuff" a lot 😅
Hem allowance!
Nice

Inside a hem.
Outside a cuff
What are tailors hams? Or pressers hams?

@sewshowwithshae thank you I have seen a few videos where they say stretching or shrinking items on the ham. And I was kinda lost for a minute...lol
Men’s belly overhang measuring help, please!!
Best to ask them where they prefer to wear their pants and start there.

Yes. I would love to know how to measure my husbands belly overhang.... please !!
