I taught 7th grade ESL to new immigrants. One child from Senegal had never been in school before. He learned everything so fast. Three months later i heard his stutter. I pulled him aside i to talk about it. I showed him famous people with a stutter including The King’s Speech. Please build your kids up! They are smart!

As an adult who still stutters I understand how hard it can be to just want to say what you want to say and it’s hard. Bless his and all their hearts

when i was 4 years old i began to stutter, i couldn't finish my sentence and it was annoying. When i was 5 my parents got me on so many therapy, and slowly it began to work. I am now 13 years old, and i am finally stopping with stuttering. And when you stop stuttering you also really realize that people from school are listening to me now. :)
So if you stutter it's normal to feel alone or left out. But you just know that you are not alone!

'Everybody has something beyond their control.' Thank you President Biden, John, and Emily. I keep watching this video even years on. It gives me confidence. 'The cracked parts of us are where the light shines through.' :)

I've never heard of mr John Hendrickson and I found that listening to him was hard. Really, really hard. I felt hot, my palms were sweating and I felt this discomfort. Here I am, listening to a stutterer who stutters exactly the same way I do. Here I am, a 45 year old man, father, husband, crying my eyes out because of something so confronting. Thank you for posting this. -x- Peace and love from Holland.

It was an amazing virtual gala and we were so happy to have John Hendrickson. He wrote a wonderful article about an interview he had with Joe Biden about stuttering. Prior to that, we didn't know him either!
Thank you for taking the time to watch the video, and we're honored to have provided you with a video that has helped you confront the discomfort of stuttering. Peace to you as well, friend!

I have been stuttering since I was little , I’m 18 and still stutter. It really is challenging and I often feel alone with it because nobody else around me stutters.

No doubt, it's very common to feel alone as a person who stutters. If you are looking to connect with the stuttering, there are wonderful support organizations throughout the US, including the National Stuttering Association, FRIENDS, SAY, and StutterSocial... If you're ever interested in therapy for stuttering, we'd be honored to help you as well. Check us out at stutteringtreatment.org.

It's really hard , when you talk to your friends or family the extent of stuttering is really low and you manage to speak clearly. But when you standing in a class room to read or to answer questions that's where you can't. You just lose your confidence, because when I read in front of the class and I stuttered often, my classmates would laugh whole class would laugh, so everytime they laugh you just lose your confidence.

Vp, I suggest first you change your “poor me” mindset , there is tons of help on youtube for free, and lots of organizations like ASI. Then it takes working on those skills consistently. Give it a go, keep working at it, if something is not working for you ..change it. We are allowed a unlimited amount of failures in life. When life knocks you down, get back up and fight harder. I stutter, im 60. i keep working the skills I’ve learned and it improves greatly. I suggest you adopt the fight mindset and not a quitter mindset . Its all starts in your spirit and then your mind then practicing learned speech skills. Take action.
