Rummikub is one of our most favorite games to play. 🤗 Have you tried Wazabi? It’s a quick, fun dice and card game where you have to get rid of your dice. The cards have cute cartoon sumo wrestlers on them. You can play a few rounds during dinner, and there is a tad of healthy competition. 😆 It’s lots of fun!

We have a well also and I learned fast to fill the bathtub with water to use to flush the toilet if a storm is forecasted. No hydro means no water for flushing for us.
That is a great idea! I love it! I'm definitely considering it! 😂 I did have a bucket of water set aside all the time for the same reason! 😄 The power was one thing but the no toilet and having the icy rain outside gave us less options! 😂 Thank you for sharing your great idea! 💗

We are beginning to come out of our bitter cold snap now! We were fortunate to avoid power outages. We had lots on hand for cold meals if required. Next week is supposed to be a bit warmer. I need to get out and ski!!! Stay warm and drive safe!

You need a whole house generator like we have in eastern NC. Never with out power. Runs on propane.

@@jonap5740 yes it is, coming on automatic when power goes out, my house is totally electric here in the south. It exercises once a week. There is 3 of us who have them on my street. Great investment

Thanks for the interesting recipes. You might want to try to peel your ginger with the edge of a regular teaspoon. It takes off just the skin and it is faster than using a peeler. Best of luck!

I watch you and like to listen how you describe your activities and the background music. The nature scenery too. But, when I see your videos, I usually get up to do some cleaning 😢🧽. You are a hard worker. 5:27 pm 😊😊😊😊😊👩🍳 Happy ❄️ winter.
We have a well too, so I usually fill a bucket for every bathroom for the toilets. I fill up two big canning pots and keep jugs for drinking and cleaning, I also fill up my laundry sink. But if you have a generator, you can run it to get water and power for fridge. I also can meals in a jar, so there is always food already to eat. Plus a gas stove is great because you can always cook when there is no power. I freeze my homemade cutlet’s of meat with the wax paper, it’s so convenient. I’ve been watching your channel for quite awhile, and I love it. I think I’m going to mention you in my bread machine group, because so many are looking for GF bread recipes.

There is no need to cook oatmeal. Just place oatmeal in a jar cover with prepared milk ( I blend bananas/water) and place in fridge overnight. Add any toppings you’d like.
oh , I didn t know that , I m certainly going to try this my husband likes his oatmeal a lot for breakfast , sometimes I make it into a "porridge like " substance and feed it to my chicken when the weather is cold , I add some grinded seeds ,they devour it , it seems it helps them lay some eggs even in rough winter weather ;)

Ginger can be peeled with a tea spoon quite easily. Just use it to scrape of the peel. Works like a charm and you can get into all the little corners.

Also for the fennel , where I come from in the south of France we would season them and braise them in the oven with a little parmesan and either drizzle some olive oil or a little veggie broth until tender , and stick them under the broiler for a minute or 2 at the end to caramelize them , it brings out the anise taste , it use to be one of my Mom's favorite veggies , I think of her every time I make them 😘

We love HMart. It's been on my list for my daughter and me to visit. It has been a while since we were there; however, we might have to wait longer. We've received snow yesterday, and so ends our two-year snow drought for our part of Maryland. No complaints; there is plenty of good food, and the wood stove is going with plenty of wood outside. Today will be a day for meal prep, and later, I'll be crafting, weaving/wrapping jewelry, and then my daughter will teach me how to make 3D stars out of paper. Ya, I don't eat that way either. Never had an onion salad. Don't use fennel for soup, only for cold salads. Never eat hot dogs because organic are so expensive and it is such a processed food. We use more cheese and butter than N.
We have so much paper in piles on our dining room table in preparation for tax filing season. Thankfully, most will be going into a large file folder once our taxes have been submitted.
