I watch a lot of build videos and have seen a lot of mini roof tutorials, and I think about how roofs are ACTUALLY made a lot and that simple method you did is just the best mini roof on TH-cam bar none! Be proud of that one my son!

Good piece! Casting the arrow-slits in Milliput seems a strange method to me. If you have one mould, you'd need to do a LOT of waiting for it to cure each time, and packing the mould takes a while too. I'd have thought you could make the slits out of the XPS foam in a tiny fraction of the time.
It was a strange choice. I wanted to try out the blue stuff, and it made the arrow slits more durable too. It also helped break up the monotony of working with foam. But no it was not by any means the most efficient course. Love your videos btw

Its clear you really enjoyed this project and it shows, doing little carpentry is so satisfying, and it really helps to visualize it with your example. I would reaaaaally love to see you do some bric'a'brac and ubiquitous terrain "accents" like stone wells, crates, ladders, walkways and fences, maybe some statuary and or objectives etc. Anyway Kudos and stay safe

That would be a really nice little mini-adventure for an RPG group! I could imagine having to spend an afternoon clearing the tower, making it up each level till you got to the top and had to fight something nasty.

@@EricsHobbyWorkshop there's a village near where I live in the UK called swanage, it has a medieval ruined castle ' corfe castle ' take a look on Google, it may give you some more ideas etc. Spoiler alert, it's really ruined lol but gorgeous all the same with its thatched scenery around it. Just a thought fella.
I'd recommend either Magic Sculp or Apoxie Sculpt rather than Miliput. They're cheaper (around $25/lb or $5.60/Newton) and they set a bit faster (usually 60-90 minutes ... that would be 3600 - 5400 seconds in metric). And it's bass like the fish, not bass like a guitar.
Im sure its as old as time, but I never thought to do it until watching Black Magic Craft and he does it in nearly all his videos so he gets credit from me. I was careful to say ‘popularized by’ and not ‘invented by’ haha

I thought the shingles would look bad but after you finished it it looks so good like if you forget about how small it is it looks like that could be a real structure
this is very cool man, and what i love about this is that it looks daunting at first but it is actually quite easy to build....providing you are patient. The brickwork takes the longest, but i bit through it haha. I now have a cool looking tower (with some modifications) i choose to put more holes and not modular as i use it for warcry. It's a nice addition in my ruined city. Thx man, i had fun making this.

That looks great man, I also built a ruined structure brick by brick recently. It looks amazing but man, so many blocks. lol. I used foam floor mats for my bricks, and probably wouldn't build a structure with them again... I loved the look but even after coating it, it is still very wiggly. I really appreciate all the work you put into this. I was watching for colour advise.... still haven't finished mine. :,(
Keep pushing man!!! It feels so good to be done after laying a million bricks. I haven’t used floor mats, but there is always a tradeoff between rigidity and durability.

That beauty looks like something sold in a store, holy crap. After getting my hands on a bunch of old Warhammer books it breaks my heart that GW don't use this kind of DIY terrain in their codexes and rulebooks anymore. I'm getting me a glue gun and making buildings this way from now on for sure. If I can get a hold of cheap foamboard I'm gonna build me a whole Bretonnian village and no one can stop me.

I don't want to breathe in the "delightful mist", so I put a bit of water into the tumbler. It's best to wash the wheathered bricks anyway, that dust is noxious stuff.

I don't know I'd you will see this comment so long after but... We have arrow slit windows on one of our barns, it was built around 1500 and has always been a farm building it was common around us to have a defensive able farm to protect again border reivers. We also have them on the ground floor, which is less common but not unusual on farms as they let the light in and could still keep people out. The Boarder Reivers would make an excellent mordheim war band worth reading about.
As a modeller you should have said ''the type of very thin card used in cornflake boxes/ frozen food boxes'' people might think they have to use that exact box......stunning models as always
Absolutely love it. This, and the ruined house video makes me confident I can give terrain making a try. I do wonder about varnishing it as a last step for solidity and scratch resistence. Do you know if regular spray varnish from an aerosol can could damage the build? Doesn't feel like it would being that it's all painted, but I'd probably be devastated if it did after all that work.

Yeah, the adjoining piece at the end is carved bricks. Both techniques have their uses!

Varnish is usually ok if its applied lightly. I would avoid gloss varnish and go for something matte. Personally i very seldom use it, though i should
pro-tip: store all your thermo-plastic molds in a cooler box when traveling. (mine all turned into a gelatinous mass when i moved to New Mexico. )
