Richard I have been watching for about 3 months and just completed my first repair THANK YOU!!!!
What a fascinating series! Definitely learned some new things and was a great review for what I had learned at some point but forgotten. Thank you so much for making the time to put all your electronic videos together. I have learned so much from them. Looking forward to getting into the schematics and learning what the various circuits are doing. Keep up the great work! I also enjoy the funny comments from time to time.
Just the section on diodes shows what an amazing teacher you are. Great pace. It also shows how component symbols are really a shorthand, but in my mind, a far easier shorthand than Pitman's. Marvellous video series. Shown me how much I have forgotten, twisted and plainly didn't know.
Another great video. Looking forward to watch episode 3 in about 10 minutes. Thank you ☺
Thank you for the lesson🤝
Thats great series of videos man, i really love u for that.
NEED MORE DONT STOP.
NEVER STOP.
HOPE THIS SERIES WILL NEVER STOP.
Great video! Thank you Richard!
Lot good info 👍
Great information! Great video!
What a work you've put in, part 1, part 2 great stuff. Waiting to watch number 3.
Got back home from Lanzarote to Edinburgh two nights ago. Next Maspalomas next year. 😁😁😁(Sunday Market a must)
Remember to give me a shout when you come over 🙂
@@LearnElectronicsRepair Will do !
Too new to electronics to know some of these, but electrical I'm good with. Thank you kind sir for these videos
Rich, that was great! Any chance you can talk through a tube based device schematic in this series? I find myself getting confused when negative voltages are involved such as for bias voltages. Thanks for all of the great content.
Thank you so much Sir.
I like the way you draw out what your teaching us. One question, would it be possible to post a picture of each page of your drawings at the bottom of the video so we could print them out for our own records? Just a thought. Thanks for all you are doing.
What a wonderful video
Was knowledgeable
Nice Video Richard - Education for FREE is the way to stop land fill
also CMOS :) Reed Switches Hall Effect sensors just a few more bits to look up :)
Hi Richard, still onboard :) Hope to be back in Gran Canaria by October ;)
is there a transistor with a matched pair NPN PNP in one package? i thought that was a Darlington. pair
Bedankt
Thank you so much!
@@LearnElectronicsRepair yw
Heya, know 90 % of all the components so still have learned some thanks. can't wait for part yes I know after the weekend np. are you goiing to the carboot this weekend ?
Oh yes
@@LearnElectronicsRepair nice
At around 26:00 besides the arrows being the opposite to normal transistors you forgot to mention the annoying fact that MOSFETs move current from DRAIN to SOURCE which is the inverse of what should be intuitive according to those names. Transistors are more intuitive moving from collector to emitter. Thanks for the video!
Actually I always thought the collector emitter naming was on-intuitive. At least on NPN transistors. it would seem logical that the emitter emits something that is collected by the collector, the opposite to conventional current direction. Of course if you think using electron flow it does make sense but then the arrow on the NPN emitter points in the opposite direction to the direction of electron flow. PNP transistors make more sense from the point of view of conventional current, with the emitter emitting 'positive particles' but the arrow is still pointing the wrong way for electron flow.
@@LearnElectronicsRepair oh well I thought about it like the collector collecting electrons for the emitter to emit but I guess it could be thought either way as you pointed out. In any case the drain to me is something that loses (water or something) so to think that it sends electrons to the source is totally non-intuitive. Anyway it is what it is and like you say in the video near the end of that explanation “…but NO”. LOL!
Hate to knit pick but 15:30 the drawing is a NPN not PNP.
Oh yeah you are correct 😁
Why are they called active and passive components
Well google says passive components don't need any power to operate, active components (transistors ICs etc do)
When I learned all this in the 70s and 80s I was taught that passive components obey laws like ohms law or the law of reactance, and active components do not. According to the first definition a diode is a passive component and according to the second it is an active component. I always considered diodes to be active components but google doesn't seem to know if that is correct or not
Early on you used to number your videos. As this is a tea hing channel its easy to tell somebody go watch video #56. You stopped numbering yoir videos which is a shame. Youtu e does not make it easy to watch your videos in sequence so i can only do it by searching
Yes, putting numbers on video helps a lot but none do it!😢
Oh, you missed one logic gate...ill draw it here... ??????
