So pretty much everyone else uses Magic and weapons while Reiko is just a straight ufc fighter
That Reiko long range kick is some of the nastiest stuff I have seen in MK game.
The irony of ninja not liking liu in this game, yet he still ends up playing as earthrealm's champion.
I like how Raiden moves like a real life shaolin monk in his strings

Exactly. You have to play around the enemy character. It is only broken to players that don't understand their opponent or how to play around it. Know yourself know your enemies and you need not fear the outcome of a thousand battles. Its easy to call something broken when you dont know what it does and refuse to adapt/ play around what it is and just expect to do the same thing you have always done and expect it to work when in this case it doesnt
@@rodtack8420 That obvious bro,but if you can do 50% combo since you hit ur enemy,that literally a full life bar with 2 hits, that's not about knowing your opponent or knowing your hero etc,even if you know all raiden moves,you just will get staggered sooner or later,and as the raiden hit pass - you lose 50% guaranteed ) He need nerf,im not telling he is super OP,but it just not interesting to play when you lose full bar with 2 hits you know
Raiden is so broken, 40%-50% combos every time he catches someone offguard

@@Cutthroat__that’s on u, Raiden’s top tier, he does Kenshi levels of damage but with way less input difficulty, and is on the faster side too, easily top tier for now.
I think (and this is my take my bad) is the Kameos. They extend combos slightly but I can see Raiden and co. making up some wild @$$ $hit here and there. Been a few days, they'll nerf characters left and right (maybe including Kameos too but I don't know yet. Been out for a couple days) after some deliberation or two. Or I'm wrong and I'm an idiot for saying $hit I have zero right in saying. Much love and respect.

For reiko to be the “grappler” and I love me grapplers he doesn’t give “don’t wanna get grabbed” feel. Like you wanna be scared to be grabbed but his normals are more scary than his grab and it’s a high. Spending 2 meters just for that 20 percent when raiden can do more with no bar is wild 😭
Exactly with reiko u have to control the pace and fight with his normals and distance control

It's honestly so disappointing that Reiko cannot use his spear in his moveset when he shows it off in the selection screen
Felt the same about Bi Han/Sub-Zero not using more spear attacks beyond his slide. The spine and skull he uses as an improvised flail is cool, though. Reiko, meanwhile, fights less like a career soldier and more like a pit fighter.
It's bi Han, not the sub zero we know from the last few games . It's noobsaibot , they are restarting the series again and scorpion is the subzero we know and love .

Tbh ninja isn't losing too much. Rewind was one of the few players who could keep up with him in mkx, and we can see ain't nothing changed but the game lol
He never looks good. Honestly his gameplay is so boring. I only watch his videos to see other people play.
Reiko feels like he should get more damage out of his command grabs because it just feels like he's lacking a bunch right now without assist support
His only command grab deals 110 damage, like regular throw, and 210 for 2 bars. Tactical takedown is a low attack, not grab

@@j_hitta0591why is it low? There was no grabs, but kotal's in 11, that damages more than usual grabs(without meter) ... Reiko's only issue is scaling, it sucks

Brings a tear to my eye seeing Raiden actually do some good damage. My optimal kombo for him in MK11 was like 31 percent😂

This video shows that just because a character can do big damaged it doesn’t mean that it’s a automatic win. Reiko those less damaged then Raiden and was still able to win and fight him well and that’s a great thing to see.
44:40 the way Raiden's hat falls off and Reiko suplexes him into the hat is 10/10 amazing game

Reiko isn’t s tier but he is able to be in A depending on who’s playing him. Command grabs, high damage depending on cameo, strike throw mixups, space control and good projectiles again depending on the cameo can be capitalized on. Reiko is in A tier minimum especially if the one one controlling him knows how to strike command grab AND utilize cameos

Reiko just needs a damage buff and he’ll be competing. I really hope they don’t nerf Raiden though 😂

Raiden is getting nerfed. There’s no chance in hell he stays how he currently is. He has too much damage and speed and doesn’t need to spend any resources or put himself in any danger as well as having more range than most because he advances a lot on his strings
I love how Reiko is a mix of Wrestling, Kick box and a bit of muay. Full Mma whil Johnny is primarly Thai and Kickbox

12:59 Yeah I was hoping you’d use those lows to counter Sareena’s projectiles. Raiden’s lows are very good. They did him justice in this game overall compared to MK 11. ⚡️
I'm loving this gameplay. So much color and detail to behold. The moves, combos & mechanics all look great when watching the best players in action.

His Reiko is disgusting while your Raiden is getting 40-50% combos off of literally everything

@@beano_burrito What? This doesn't even make sense if you just use your eyes while playing or watching MK1 fights. Literally, the start of this video a fairly simple string with not a lot of corner time did 48% in 19 hits with 1 bar. at 5:40 it's 41% 17 hits, 1 bar.
Reiko literally doing 17 hit combos, 1 bar, for 35%.
NinjaKilla is a great player that's obvious, but does Ninja pick up Reiko and start dropping almost 50% on 19 hit combos with 1 bar? No.

I’ve been slapping everyone on Kombat League with a 30/4 Record, my 4 losses are all to Reiko, I just simply don’t have an answer for him, the distance and + frames are just annoying.

Reiko uses the MMA style of fighting.
His suplex is satisfying to watch.

Liu changes for sauce and viability IMO:
1) Add One low starting string (considering all of the cast has one or both of a low/OH starter). Thinking like his B34 from MK11 type of range.
2) Either give him a bounce in the air OR retune his air fireballs to have more gravity instead of a full screen send so that he has more variety/routes in the air. Can even have the MB version be the pop up and regular would still send full screen. Gives a reason to have an air route for Liu.
3) Retune his teleport to become an active stun so that Kameos can do some stuff from the ground. Meter burn version becomes a low. Keep the pop up properties if opponent in the air. Similar to how Scorp’s overhead kameo works.
4) Convert standing 3 into a mid so that 32 is a viable OH check.
5) Standing 1 needs more range. Give him some flame effects for his 12 string to extend out the range a bit. Kinda like Reiko has w/ his kicks, but a much closer range version.
I think these are doable and would give Kang some much needed depth. Again just my opinion but NRS gotta be taking notice that he needs some love.

So curious to see how they scale damage in this game. On one hand I love being able to do 50%, on the other that might give less than stellar players to close the skill gap.
High damage is fine but it's only acceptable when everyone can do it. I remember when GG Strive came out and the damage was insane. People taking no joke 60%+ given the right situations.
Damage ain't the problem, the lack of breakers is imo

It’s because Raiden is currently broken and has no weaknesses besides not having an overhead to launch/combo you with. Character is perfect otherwise and don’t worry, he’ll get nerfed because there’s no way he stays this strong on launch. He literally sucks the fun out of the game when you get punished for 50% for a whiffed D1 and he’s faster than a lot of the cast
Raiden and Smoke are the scrub carries of this game

I appreciate this upload dude. Not only have I been looking to play Reiko and I needed someone very skilled with him to get some inspiration, but I've also been looking to spice up my Raiden gameplay too. Great fights from the both you ❤

Yeah 500 damage most people can’t pull off. It’s easy asf to throw stars and zone all day and wake up.

Since I started watching high level players like yall it has reignited my love for mk and mk1 really did the combo system justice. Any tips on something us mortals should be doing for practice?
So far MK 1 feels pretty well balanced. I haven’t had a chance to play with everyone but of the characters I have played none of them really stand out as just plain bad. It’s still early but so far I’m having a lot of fun.
With such diversity and potential the biggest problem will be balancing them. I hope they dont abandon the game after selling it, like what happened in mk11

I like how Raiden is finally not a slow mf like in MK11, it’s so refreshing.
He does still have the movement of the usual raiden with staggered attacks.
In this though most of his combos are dial a combos, he is quite easy to use I think.
Doesn't have much ways of opening you up though a low combo starter and reactable overhead starter. Gotta whiff punish with him.
I wish Jax was a playable character. I always loved the sound of the metal arms hitting people

I like how most of the easy characters have a lot of tools and options and Reiko gets a mid command grab after burning 2EX meter and it not even faster then normal command grab like man's needs some more moves

the timing to use him in combination to raiden's electric grab DF3 is veeeery short,
I tried using it and felt that Jax get's more in my way than any other Kameo.
Everytime I tried to use him in real Kombat I got my move cancelled lol

I’ve said this and I’ll say it again I feel like down the line reiko will be one of the top tiers of this game. I haven’t seen his frame data and pushbacks etc but on paper he seems good. Might be another fujin case where he gets explored properly later

He's not broken but the throwables definitely are pretty cheap.
Not to mention they already screaming "Sareena OP" while it is the most noob friendly and only help on basic combo extenders, while others have so many unblock-able setups they are way better than her. Scrubs these days...
Agreed. NRS community is always so obsessed with tiers, even more so than other fgc's, it's annoying that it often drowns out other much more interesting discussions about the game.
@@Jos-wt7yn today is pretty cheap, but what about 2 months from now? Look at SF6 Cammy was considered bad when the game first came out, a few weeks later and now everyone knows she is good. MK1 should have at least 6 months with no patches, let players understand what it is good and what it isn't and then buff whats bad.

yes. not even because its to much to give, but because you rarely have it or just dont enchance ever. I say 2 bars is more than enough. cameo available as well ffs.

Yeah Raiden can do combos but that’s assuming he can even get inside. Reiko’s grabs and kicks were enough to keep Ninja away while scoring some safe 40%s.
