    Good video and it's great that a repair shop would go to this much trouble to record a video for their customer. Nice work.
    PS - a salt treatment chemical is not 100% mandatory, but it sure helps. The main thing is to flush after salt water use, even if it's just fresh water. Ie. it's more important to remember to do it, whether or not you're using a salt treatment or just plain water. I have owned PWCs since 1992 and I've never ridden in fresh water. Before Salt Away, Salty Captain, Salt Shift and all those other products came to market 10 or so years ago there was no other option than just plain fresh water. Especially where I live in Australia. At least with these newer treatments it makes it easier and quicker to flush out the salt.

    I am just about to take delivery of my first Jetski, so this has been very helpful in understanding the open loop cooling system, and how important it is to flush out the Salt water.I do have lakes available to me, but
    here in New Zealand we generally all live close to "a" coast, so its easier to ride Salt water than the lakes (generally).Thanks for posting.

      Dude, I hope you flush your ski with saltaway and not just fresh water. This exactly how this happens. Salt away doesn't use any protective ingredients, it just makes the salt move out with the water, if you use it all the time, you have that protection. If you spray a little on your ski, it will remove the salt from there too, making it very easy to clean. It doesn't matter what type of cooling system you have, they all must be flushed if used in salt water. Even closed loop. Closed loop still takes water from the sea and uses it for cooling in a heat exchanger. So flushing any water craft is important if possible! I hope you already know this by now. Where do you hale from? Im in the Hawksbay. 😊

    Vinegar & water.
    2 parts Vinegar 1 part water will dissolve all that hard build-up.
    Soak thoroughly for a day or two then flush constantly with the vinegar solution breaking down the electrolysis.

    How did you clear the completely blocked holes? Do each of the cylinders have holes that water flow through?

    Going to be doing this same repair on my 2014 VX Deluxe that I just purchased with the same problem, do I need an engine hoist or can it be pulled out by hand, engine doesn't seem that big. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

    I’m going to be using this same motor in a boat build project. Does this have a closed loop cooling system? Or does waster come straight from the jet pump and go into the lower inlet pipe on the engine block?

    • @hotheadzmarine
      @hotheadzmarine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is raw water cooled. Not closed cooling. Thank you for your question.

    I’m doing this with engine still in hull
    Got manifold off and cleaned ALOT of sand and clogged up holes
    If I wanted to run water through do I just run it to regular flush port
    Do I need to run engine while doing it? Since manifold is off

      True but very rare. It's behind a plastic housing with 2 bolts and a hose. Front of engine or rear. I'm sorry I don't recall.

    Great video Lewis Walker , what is your recommendation for how (long?) to flush for Salt water properly? And what is "Salt away"?

    • @hotheadzmarine
      @hotheadzmarine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Phillip B,
      Salt away is a product sold at many many places & wallmart to be used according to direction on label for cleaning the damaging & destructive contaminants of salt water on internal engine and related water/cooling passageways. Just do a google search. Keep in mind there are several different brands but Salt-Away is the most available w/o special order in our opinion. Mandatory to flush using a product if running in salt or brackish water. Thank You for your question and God bless.

    Is there a trick to getting the exhaust manifold off? I have the engine pulled and all the bolts off the lower section of the manifold but doesn't seem to want to break loose

    • @jeffdebono624

      there is a dowel on the bottom part of the manifols and it is angled therefore the top exhaust part will never go up. you need to drop the lower exhaust manifold

    Engine was running fine but was giving an overheat after 5mn ride, my impeller is clean, and i always flush it after ride. so what do you think about that?

    • @hotheadzmarine
      @hotheadzmarine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garly Leger HIDA scan through it and look for any codes they'll be one stored depend on the engine I believe there are three temperature sensors identifying which temperature sensor gave the code of overheat will tell you where the problem area is to start looking I hope that helps you thank you for your question

      Thank you for this video!!! Mine had the same issue though not as bad and now it works just fine!!! Instead of taking the top off we ran a wire through the channels after taking the exhaust manifold out and used air pressure to clear out. Now I use salt away to flush my engine. Thank you again!!
