I'll never forget this one comment I saw on a Zutara video: "Zuko saw the dark in Katara and chose to help her work through it, whilst Aang saw her darkness and tried to hide it away" Beautifully sums up how Zuko and Katara balance each other out ❤️💙
Aang didn’t try to hide the darkness in Katara away, he tried to help talk her through it without violence. Aang was trying to help her heal through forgiveness without necessarily achieving closure, while Zuko was trying to help her get closure.
@@erikatamayo1925 yeah, but what katara truly needed was closure. aang kind of told her to basically get over it and forgive the man who killed her mother. which is wild to me. aang is right that revenge doesn't solve anything, he was right about revenge being poison, that hurts both the inflicted and inflicting. however his talk about forgiveness wasn't really right either. zuko, although he was more violent, offered her a way to closure, to find the man and confront him. which they ended up doing, and katara made the choice not to take revenge and zuko respected that. zuko didn't push katara to be violent, he allowed her to choose her own course of action.

It is beautiful that a non-canon pair is acknowledged. It is an act of respect and true interest for fans as entire community with its differences. It would be a shame to start a ship war (it is always a shame). As far as I love Zutara (I like Kataang too) I can say only one thing: Thank You! ❤
considering zutara only had a few episodes to showcase their relationship development, it’s amazing how natural yet strong their chemistry evolved. i always wonder why people think of zutara as such a far-fetched ship that had no possibility whatsoever bc they had the perfect foundation for a yin/yang, enemies to lovers dynamic that just needed a natural development to be a very string ship
That’s such a cliche relationship dynamic. Zuko and Katara are like the Koi in the oasis at the northern water tribe. Just because that relationship exists doesn’t make it romantic.

@@DenverZenn just because a relationship has been done before doesn’t mean it is necessarily cliche. Personally, I crushed hard on Zuko, followed by Sokka. Not once did I ever crush on Aang. However, I think Aang and Katara are better suited for each other romantically. Katara and Zuko have a lot of chemistry don’t get me wrong, but not all chemistry equals romance. Katara and Zuko balance each other out and so people want to ship them. However, if you think about it there are instances of siblings balancing each other out like this but no romance being involved. I interpret Katara and Zuko as having a familial relationship rather than a romantic one.

Them ending up together would have been a great plot twist and i remember when i watched the show back then I could feel their chemistry. Now looking back I would've preferd if they ended up together....
I would like to say that just a cute reference would be that their lightning scars. Whereas Aang had gotten his lightning bolt on his back, he was willing to give up Katara for the world, which as the Avatar, was his duty. Zuko however, was willing to give up the world for Katara. Had Zuko died from that lightning bolt, Azula would have ascended, and all their work would have been for nothing. But Zuko didn't hesitate in taking that lightning bolt for her. His duty as the heir to the fire nation didn't come first, but Aang's duty as the Avatar did. I just think this is a nice concept
Ana Miron thanks. I also think they parallel Oma and Shu, and Twi and La. their personalities all mirror each other very well. Zuko starts the series as the villain, but he shows compassion and empathy, whereas Katara is seen as the heroine, who has the ability to have hatred and darkness in her heart. They both bring the light out of each other, by Zuko being willing to accept her darkness and Katara embracing his growth. They should’ve been endgame

Even if you aren’t a fan of Zutara, you should at least be able to say that there is some evidence for this ship by now. You can ship Kataang but don’t act like this ship was totally impossible, especially since the official avatar account is giving it some light. In just a few scenes, the writers were able to inject chemistry between the two, enough to where it competes with the biggest canon ship, which is a big accomplishment. Displays how well this show was written.

The Zuko and Katara interactions were just on such an intimate level. Their development was incredibly organic. Zuko even helped Sokka save Hakoda, when Aang hid a letter from them 😂
True and there is no denying that was wrong. Well, he was afraid of losing them as the only family he has left and crucial assets on his journey. Zuko thought he might not make it without him since he has experience with the fire nation plus it was a chance for them to bond.

Katara teasing Zuko during the play, teaming up in training, Zuko taking up responsibility of the group with her and helping her calm down when she was storming after Aang, Katara comforting him outside Iroh's tent, Zuko asking Katara to be the one by his side to face Azula :')
I love this ship, partly bc they treat each other as equals. Zuko always respected her and her abilities, even when they were enemies. When they became friends, he gave her space and respected her wishes and let her make her own decisions and tried in earnest to earn her trust back while acknowledging that he messed up in the past. I’m not hating on Kataang shippers, but Aang and Katara’s relationship felt like it had such a brother sister dynamic and katara almost constantly acted like his mother figure. The only person in the gaang that Katara doesn’t mother is Zuko. I also just think there’s something beautiful about two opposites finding a way to each other and not only coexisting but coming together in harmony and love. Sorry for the rant, just my thoughts 😊
Why are Kataang fans mean? Isn't their ship already canon? Isn't that enough for them? If someone wants to ship Zutara, it's okay! It's no problem to ship something fanmade. It makes the fanfictions more interesting! Respect both ships and don't criticize!
I'm a Kataang shipper and I'm perfectly fine with people shipping Zutara. I just don't like it when they say things that aren't true or when they hate on Aang

I just don't get why both sides need to criticize each other. Don't we have different opinions? Doesn't that mean we should respect eachother as true human beings? I love both ships, but mostly Zutara. That's just my opinion and I respect others who think otherwise.
Aang and Katara always felt more of a older sister/youngest brother relationship, unlike Zuko and Katara who had chemistry and more in common. They brought out the best in each other. Both of them opened up to each other in the earth kingdom cave like I’ve never seen them do with other characters. I always thought Toph and Aang suited each other’s personalities better. Zuko never truly opened up to anyone like he did Katara. The only other person being Iroh. Both grew up titles they couldn’t avoid (Katara as the Last Waterbender from her tribe) (Zuko the crown prince of the Fire Nation) and parents that weren’t there. Both raised by elders in their family. Both knew unspeakable losses. Plus, if they married that would create an alliance between two opposing nations and bending styles, Water and Fire. Opposites Attract. They had a depth of emotion to every encounter they had.
I don't know that like 5 episodes is equivalent to years and Aang and katara kissing each other is what siblings do and when they hugged like once or twice because of forgiveness. Second yes zuko was the leader of the Fire Nation but Katara was just a girl from the Southern Water Tribe she wasn't in politics.

So many years have passed... I still ship them, didn't see them as a potential couple when i was a kid tho. I love Aang, i really do, but let's face it, Katara never showed any interes in Aang, which he wanted. Aang felt attachment to Katara, i don't really believe that he loved Katara the way he thought he did. Due to his age, it is understabable. Katara and Zuko had similar outlooks on life, they are so similar but at the same time so different, they perfectly complement each other. Their chemistry and simbolism just made me ship them, they looked natural together somehow. Sorry for mistakes, i'm from Ukrane❤
My main qualm with kataang was the whole you have to let of your attachments to master the avatar state. It was kind of dropped and didn’t really have a satisfying conclusion. It didn’t even feel like aang let go of his attachment by learning to truly love katara (which imo is totally a way they could have done that without having kataang not be cannon) because even by ember island players he’s only considering his feelings for katara and not hers. And it’s not even like he was doing that in the finale because he’s preoccupied with facing the firelord.
To all newcomers to this video expect hardcore shippers giving long comprehensive essays justifying their ship of either ship in the fan war, and expect trolls to just be there to slander and demean the ship they feel so threatened to, whether its canon or not. Honestly, the ATLA fandom is both beautiful and toxic. The shipping war is renewed and strengthened by fans whose resolve is to put forth their stance on their how romance should be either fictional or real life.
Katara literally acts like Aang’s mother so kataang never sat right with me. Also zutara had more relationship development than kataang did in my opinion. Kataang go from episode 17 in season 3 of Katara rejecting aang after he kissed her and saying she’s “confused” to suddenly kissing in the finale. It felt so one sided and just: the hero gets the girl with no further explanation from Katara

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again: Katara and Zuko’s relationship is an important one, both to them as individuals and the show as a whole, and there is nothing wrong with shipping them, but **relationships do not have to be romantic to be meaningful and impactful** (I’m not trying to start an argument, just wanting to share my point of view as a non-Zutara shipper who still adores their dynamic)

I agree, I think that their relationship (Zuko and Katara) are still impactful without them dating. I think Katara makes an amazing foil to Azula. I think their dynamic was always set up to be that of siblings. And at the end of the show I’m satisfied with that because Zuko got a family. And so did the other characters. They challenged their future and carved their own paths. Zuko broke the cycle of abuse and tyranny. Katara upheld her values, started of naive and became wise. They both got something out of their friendship and grew from it. I enjoy the show and I hope other people comment cause I’m interested to hear what people think!
I reckon if Katara actually used the water on Zuko’s scar, he would’ve joined with Aang instead of Azula and then there would be no need to use the water on Aang’s back because Azula would be outnumbered and outmatched

Honestly, I always thought that Katara and Zuko’s relationship was very interesting. Aang and Katara as a couple always creeped me out because I saw him as a child while she was an older teenager. It was weird to see them kiss. At least Zuko and Katara were closer in age
No women being older than guys in a relationship does not bother me. I am older than my husband. As a teenage watching Avatar the Last Airbender, I just looked at aang as a very immature child, not even a pre-teen or teenager which is why I found it very off putting.
Katara always seemed to be mothering aang in the first seasons, her role in the gang always seemed that way to me and then it was as if the creators decided to force them into a relationship. Just wanted to ship Katara and Zuko since they were water and fire. Just then, rewatched The Last Airbender, and my heart just skipped to the part where Sokka and Katara where paralyzed, held captive by Zuko and Iroh. And then Zuko just hold on to Katara so she wouldn't fall off the animal they're riding. Small details just gives me more impact and just made me ship them more. ❤️

@Leona B Why is it any more likely that a 13-year-old (technically he's 113) would end up with a 15-year-old than a 15-year-old ending up with a 17-year-old? These types of relationships literally happen all the time in high school. Also, it's not awful to ship them just because of their canonical relationships with others. I respect that they're canon. I just don't find them as interesting or as compelling, and I have some issues with both couples.

@@DenverZenn just because a relationship has been done before doesn’t mean it is necessarily cliche. Personally, I crushed hard on Zuko, followed by Sokka. Not once did I ever crush on Aang. However, I think Aang and Katara are better suited for each other romantically. Katara and Zuko have a lot of chemistry don’t get me wrong, but not all chemistry equals romance. Katara and Zuko balance each other out and so people want to ship them. However, if you think about it there are instances of siblings balancing each other out like this but no romance being involved. I interpret Katara and Zuko as having a familial relationship rather than a romantic one.

I would like to say that just a cute reference would be that their lightning scars.
Whereas Aang had gotten his lightning bolt on his back, he was willing to give up Katara for the world, which as the Avatar, was his duty.
Zuko however, was willing to give up the world for Katara. Had Zuko died from that lightning bolt, Azula would have ascended, and all their work would have been for nothing. But Zuko didn't hesitate in taking that lightning bolt for her.
His duty as the heir to the fire nation didn't come first, but Aang's duty as the Avatar did.
I just think this is a nice concept

Ana Miron thanks. I also think they parallel Oma and Shu, and Twi and La. their personalities all mirror each other very well. Zuko starts the series as the villain, but he shows compassion and empathy, whereas Katara is seen as the heroine, who has the ability to have hatred and darkness in her heart.
They both bring the light out of each other, by Zuko being willing to accept her darkness and Katara embracing his growth.

Even if you aren’t a fan of Zutara, you should at least be able to say that there is some evidence for this ship by now. You can ship Kataang but don’t act like this ship was totally impossible, especially since the official avatar account is giving it some light. In just a few scenes, the writers were able to inject chemistry between the two, enough to where it competes with the biggest canon ship, which is a big accomplishment. Displays how well this show was written.

The Zuko and Katara interactions were just on such an intimate level. Their development was incredibly organic. Zuko even helped Sokka save Hakoda, when Aang hid a letter from them 😂
True and there is no denying that was wrong. Well, he was afraid of losing them as the only family he has left and crucial assets on his journey. Zuko thought he might not make it without him since he has experience with the fire nation plus it was a chance for them to bond.

I love this ship, partly bc they treat each other as equals. Zuko always respected her and her abilities, even when they were enemies. When they became friends, he gave her space and respected her wishes and let her make her own decisions and tried in earnest to earn her trust back while acknowledging that he messed up in the past. I’m not hating on Kataang shippers, but Aang and Katara’s relationship felt like it had such a brother sister dynamic and katara almost constantly acted like his mother figure. The only person in the gaang that Katara doesn’t mother is Zuko. I also just think there’s something beautiful about two opposites finding a way to each other and not only coexisting but coming together in harmony and love. Sorry for the rant, just my thoughts 😊

Aang and Katara always felt more of a older sister/youngest brother relationship, unlike Zuko and Katara who had chemistry and more in common. They brought out the best in each other. Both of them opened up to each other in the earth kingdom cave like I’ve never seen them do with other characters. I always thought Toph and Aang suited each other’s personalities better. Zuko never truly opened up to anyone like he did Katara. The only other person being Iroh. Both grew up titles they couldn’t avoid (Katara as the Last Waterbender from her tribe) (Zuko the crown prince of the Fire Nation) and parents that weren’t there. Both raised by elders in their family. Both knew unspeakable losses. Plus, if they married that would create an alliance between two opposing nations and bending styles, Water and Fire. Opposites Attract. They had a depth of emotion to every encounter they had.
I don't know that like 5 episodes is equivalent to years and Aang and katara kissing each other is what siblings do and when they hugged like once or twice because of forgiveness. Second yes zuko was the leader of the Fire Nation but Katara was just a girl from the Southern Water Tribe she wasn't in politics.

So many years have passed... I still ship them, didn't see them as a potential couple when i was a kid tho. I love Aang, i really do, but let's face it, Katara never showed any interes in Aang, which he wanted. Aang felt attachment to Katara, i don't really believe that he loved Katara the way he thought he did. Due to his age, it is understabable. Katara and Zuko had similar outlooks on life, they are so similar but at the same time so different, they perfectly complement each other. Their chemistry and simbolism just made me ship them, they looked natural together somehow.

My main qualm with kataang was the whole you have to let of your attachments to master the avatar state. It was kind of dropped and didn’t really have a satisfying conclusion. It didn’t even feel like aang let go of his attachment by learning to truly love katara (which imo is totally a way they could have done that without having kataang not be cannon) because even by ember island players he’s only considering his feelings for katara and not hers. And it’s not even like he was doing that in the finale because he’s preoccupied with facing the firelord.

Katara literally acts like Aang’s mother so kataang never sat right with me. Also zutara had more relationship development than kataang did in my opinion. Kataang go from episode 17 in season 3 of Katara rejecting aang after he kissed her and saying she’s “confused” to suddenly kissing in the finale. It felt so one sided and just: the hero gets the girl with no further explanation from Katara

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again: Katara and Zuko’s relationship is an important one, both to them as individuals and the show as a whole, and there is nothing wrong with shipping them, but **relationships do not have to be romantic to be meaningful and impactful**

I agree, I think that their relationship (Zuko and Katara) are still impactful without them dating. I think Katara makes an amazing foil to Azula. I think their dynamic was always set up to be that of siblings. And at the end of the show I’m satisfied with that because Zuko got a family. And so did the other characters. They challenged their future and carved their own paths. Zuko broke the cycle of abuse and tyranny. Katara upheld her values, started of naive and became wise. They both got something out of their friendship and grew from it. I enjoy the show and I hope other people comment cause I’m interested to hear what people think!

Honestly, I always thought that Katara and Zuko’s relationship was very interesting. Aang and Katara as a couple always creeped me out because I saw him as a child while she was an older teenager. It was weird to see them kiss. At least Zuko and Katara were closer in age
they have the same age gaps🏃🏻♀️ aang was 12, katara 14, and zuko 16
they are all close in age. there's no issue. it's more the fact that society thinks it's "icky" when the girl is older than the boy. there i said it.
No women being older than guys in a relationship does not bother me. I am older than my husband. As a teenage watching Avatar the Last Airbender, I just looked at aang as a very immature child, not even a pre-teen or teenager which is why I found it very off putting.

Katara always seemed to be mothering aang in the first seasons, her role in the gang always seemed that way to me and then it was as if the creators decided to force them into a relationship. I didn’t like it then and I don’t like it now. It is just different perspectives and opinions of the same show

I'm a Zutara shipper but I'm afraid to say it due to the fact that there is so much hate towards the ship and coming from the ship. Sure I prefer Zutara but I'm chill with Kataang. Just then, rewatched The Last Airbender, and my heart just skipped to the part where Sokka and Katara where paralyzed, held captive by Zuko and Iroh. And then Zuko just hold on to Katara so she wouldn't fall off the animal they're riding. Small details just gives me more impact and just made me ship them more. ❤️

@Leona B Why is it any more likely that a 13-year-old (technically he's 113) would end up with a 15-year-old than a 15-year-old ending up with a 17-year-old? These types of relationships literally happen all the time in high school. Also, it's not awful to ship them just because of their canonical relationships with others. I respect that they're canon. I just don't find them as interesting or as compelling, and I have some issues with both couples.
