    I prefer the way only because I can type it faster and it does the same thing.
    As for your question about the frames just use posterize time as an expression or effect. Enjoy.

    well thank you kindly sir. Your patronage is much appreciated. And enjoy wedding season! I'm told it's one of the most lucrative for small video production businesses.

    I have my hand in about 5 different businesses (I dont like working for the man) my graphic design skills (or lack there of) have been mostly bartered for compensation in the products my friends sell rather than cash. I have no illusions of granduer, especially since anything I do is usually just tracing off step by step tutorials such as yours - but its cool to get the oohs and ahhs from friends. Appreciate your work. Thanks for making me look like that guy

    I would say I eke out a living. Not many freelancers get to where I'm at certainly, and many are barristas first and designers second. But I suppose i could go over some of my client winning strategies in a vlog down the road. One of the big reasons I'm successful though is that's I have made terrible sacrifices in other areas of my life to accomplish my business goals.

    I'm posting this question as I watch the video. I don't know if you answer it later on. But is there any particular reason that you chose to use random()*100 instead of random(0,100).
    This gives a random number on each frame, how would I change the expression to give a random number every other or change every 5 frames?

    Great tutorial as usual! Although a little bit confused by those expressions, especially the array ones. Will definitely replay a couple of times.
    I'm curious about the sfx of the intro video. I mean, how to make that electronic, old-school sound?
    Also, are those vertical lines going to stick at a certain width? What if I want those to wiggle a bit on the left, and then shift to the right and just continue wiggling?
    Amazing tutorials, many thanks.
    Soy

    • @ECAbrams
      @ECAbrams  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The voice in the intro was altered in audition and I just used am EQ preset to make it sound like "old time radio".
      As to the vertical lines I suppose if you wanted to put expressions on width or any other property you could. If you want to build in repeating patters of things look at the "loopOut" expression. But you'll likely need keyframes if you want put in events of some kind to the flow.

      I know your comment is 7 months old but this may help anyone with the same problem.
      In the same expression box for the fractal noise, put a semi colon at the end of the random expression and go up a line and use the expression: " posterizeTime(x); " where x would be a number. The lower the number the slower it goes, I found 6 was good for my use!

How did Evan Abrams become the AE industrialist titan, multi-billionaire Canadian dollar extraordinaire he is today?? I'd like a step by step tutorial on how to sell my creations and be able to feed my beer habit. Seriously, how do you pull jobs and actually make coin? Just curious how you rope in clients. hey man for AE to run smoother should i get a better GPU or a better processor/more RAM?

    • @ECAbrams
      @ECAbrams  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That depends on what you're using Ae to do. Generally more RAM is always good. Ae is a RAM hungry beast. Also it's the least expensive of the 3 to do, so I always recommend starting there when looking to upgrade. That being said if you intend to do 3d stuff or leverage GPU acceleration you will want that powerful GPU and specifically one from the Ae approved GPU list. As for the processor, that's typically the least of concerns but as Ae gets more intricate and uses more processes it'll be more important.

    I wanna just export the grains and scratches with a transparent background so that I can add it to a video. However, there is a white background that I can't get rid of on the effect itself. Does anyone know how to fix this? I tried exporting it as a PNG sequence (RGB+Alpha) yet it still has a white background with no transparency.
