  • The West African nation of Ghana has been popular for groups for years and this popularity only continues to grow. For many, it offers a lifelong culmination in search of their roots as Ghana is the home to the “door of no return” and was central in the Transatlantic Slave trade.
Today, Ghana offers a warm, tropical climate year-round, diverse wildlife, gorgeous waterfalls such as Kintampo Waterfalls and the largest waterfall in West Africa, Wli Waterfalls, coastal palm-lined sandy beaches, caves, mountains, rivers, reservoirs, and lakes.
Add in the nation’s many World Heritage Sites and you have more than enough reasons to head to Ghana on a group vacation.
Join Ian Smyth, Goway Account Manager who recently returned from Ghana, and Mawuli Dzebu from our local partners in Ghana as they chat with Professor Goway Don Forster and learn about how Ghana should be seen now and why it remains a popular group destination.

Ghana is a beautiful country. I was there 2017 and ever since then, I continue to go there. I met a Ghanain lady who was living in Virginia, we started dating for 2 years, we got married in 2021 in Ghana. We own 35 acres of land in the eastern region of Ghana, started poultry farm, selling 💯 organic eggs. Also growing corn and veggies. Ghana changed my life...my best airlines is Ethiopian airline. Straight up to Ghana from Washington DC IAD DULLES airport

This discussion was fantastically educational and absolutely spot on. Thank you Ian and Melissa for identifying perhaps 4 or 5 thematic areas that renders unique insights and experiences to travellers eg sports, tradition and culture like no other, in the middle belt of Ghana namely Ashanti, then you have the legacy of the transatlantic slave history which I will refer to as emancipation experience which resonate s with African Americans and of course others, also culinary experience with local foods which will most definitely leave an endearing impression, then Melissa mentions textiles which is linked with our unique cultural identity, there are also the beaches and resorts dotted along the coastal plains and also situated on the famous Volta lake, which I believe is the largest man- made lake in the world, the North of Ghana offers an eclectic mix of cultural heritage which traces aspects of the identity from old timbuktu, mix with a landscape that is characterised by semi arid savanah and flora and fauna as no other.. My only hope is that The Government has foresight to lead the charge and provide incentives for these thematic areas to develop further..by engaging with Ghanaian and non Ghanaian investors.. As Ian, rightly puts it.. There is a window of opportunity in 5 to 10 yrs to solidify Ghana's place as a destination vacation of choice
