  • With 28m (90ft) of visibility, Nellie Lake is the clearest lake in Killarney Provincial Park. Requiring at least one multi-kilometer portage and hours of paddling to access, it is also one of the most remote locations. The lake is situated well above all the other lakes in the park, surrounded by white quartzite mountains. These mountains are some of the oldest on Earth, and are responsible for the lake being so clear. The white quartzite is quite acidic and as a result the lake is naturally acidic with a pH of 4.7. Very little life can thrive in this water, and so the water is very clear.
Believe it or not, none of the underwater shots were modified in colour in any way. These shots were taken anywhere from just under the surface to 50+ft down. The water is actually that really cool shade of blue.
Thank you for watching, if you enjoyed it please like and subscribe.

Inco (Vale) really helped destroy those lakes with downwind acid rain.

Actually it was just one night. Arrived early the first day and left as late as possible the second. And thanks, I think so too, I was just lucky it turned out so well.
