    this is the first time i see a 747 take off without using the auto pilot function after take off. i can clearly see the pilot actually flying it manually until the video ended. im amazed.

    • @kilosolutions
      @kilosolutions 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i mean, the speed is obviously controlled by auto pilot as we can see thrust ref and vnav speed, but Flight Director (FD) is on so the pilot is climbing and turning the aircraft as desired. i liked to do that back in the flight simulator days, when i used to fly at ivao. i never used CMD green (only when nervous). its amazing see real pilots doing that.

    After such a long time, since high school, I still miss the thing I always wanted to do.
    Sitting in the right seat, next to the captain, and enjoying every second.
    Maybe in the next life, Jannah, I will
    become a F/O.

      As salamalleikum brother,
      unless you have a medical condition, you too can become a pilot in shaa Allah.
      If you don't want to become a pilot but still want the sensation, I'd recommend aerowinx PSX.

    WOW! That 747 must be loaded!! Only 1600 fpm at 170 knot climb?!? Awesome video!

    • @brenthendricks8182
      @brenthendricks8182 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I would say the opposite. Minimum maneuvering speed increasing the heavier you are. Also if you look at the EICAS they are performing the takeoff at 15% derated thrust. Pulling out my 747-400 AOM, TO - 2, with 20 degrees of flaps and a V2 of 171 (Going by the MCP SPEED window), Id say they had an MTOW about 770LBS or 350,000 KGS. Max MTOW of the 74F is 880kLBS, or 400,000 KGS.

    The B-747 is one of the most successful commercial aircraft in history and never had a 'bail-out' moment in terms of sales. The mighty Scarebus A-380 is only flying because Emirates is the last customer interested in it. Nuff said.

    its a bit disconcerting how the engine fuel cutoff switches are located in such an exposed position under the throttle assembly, maybe they need to be activated by another switch to arm them, always thought that was a great spot to accidentally knock them and shut down a couple engines ! great video thanks again

    Hi! First of all I'd like to congratulate you for your videos, are amazing! And now I have a doubt: I saw in your videos, that it looks like the pilots don't call "V1, Rotate, Positive Climb and Gear Up". I'd like to know if you pilots don't call it during the takeoff or if it to low that we how watch the video can't hear. That's it, thanks and continue sharing with us! :)

    • @ThePilotChannel
      @ThePilotChannel  11 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Hi, Thank you for your great reply.
      To answer your question:
      The pilots do certainly call out ''80kts, v1, rotate, positive climb and gear up'', but you can't hear them speak on take-off just due to overwhelming engine noise. Of course they can hear each other loud and clear through the headsets.

    Always been curious if the 4 fuel cutoff switches that are right down in the middle of all the radios etc in the center console have an interlock once the engines are running, so you can't accidently turn them off and kill your engines.. I've watched other 747 videos that show engine start and all I can see is there are 4 switches, that look like circuit breakers on the center overhead and the 4 fuel cutoffs and it appears thats all there is to starting the 4 engines on those beasts...

    • @plummer43
      @plummer43 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +lvsluggo007 You actually have to pull them up (towards your hand, it's spring loaded) and then while pulling, you move them to the Cut Off position

    • @martin.B777
      @martin.B777 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      By pushing that button the captain set the TO/GA (takeoff/go around) thrust. It is part of an auto-throttle system which is managed by the FMS.

    • @brenthendricks8182

    • @TheTrucker302
      @TheTrucker302 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pallet position. It starts with 1 and goes through the complete aircraft. 19 is more in the back.
      19L is somewhere far in the back and on the left side. (R for right, L for left).

    • @osakanhime379

    What is V1 VR?

    • @dualinput601
      @dualinput601 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      those are airspeeds that are calculated for each takeoff.
      V1 is the takeoff decision speed. The speed after which the aircraft can no longer stop on the runway, so takeoff must be continued even in case of a failure.
      Vr is rotation speed. The speed at which the pilot starts to lift the nosewheel off the ground in order to fly

    Approximately, 8 minutes without engaging the autopilot.......why??!!
    How he changes heading & altitude while L/V nav keep illuminating (engaged )??
    They should disengage since he doesn't follow FMC route plan...

    You can tell the pilot has no trust whatsoever in the co-pilot.

    • @Fuzzymonkey0
      @Fuzzymonkey0 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not really to do with trust, as pilots we're trained to constantly monitor each other and what each pilot is doing. I could give you hundreds of examples of when both captains and first officers have gone to make silly mistakes. It's part and parcel of being a human, monitoring is what we do in the cockpit to mitigate those mistakes as much as possible.
