I like that but I have a question on the cricut blade what do I need to do to get the blade to cut every time because right now I had cut 2 pieces but once I had to make another cut it didn’t go all the way through

I have the same problem. I'm thinking my font may be protected from being able to be saved by the creator, but I tried using cricut's fonts and I got the same thing.
thanks! this is the one of the features I miss from having a cameo - creating an offset shouldn't be a chore in 2019. But I will be doing this method cause I like that I don't need another app.
Thanks so much for this video i was attempting to use the new offset feature in design space but it is not working due to it being in beta testing so I’m definitely going to try this method.
Thank you for your video! I am not happy with Cricut for taking the feature away from us. Instead of making things easier, they make it harder. I wish they would implement offsetting in Design Space.

I can't right-click on the print setup anymore to save it as a jpg. I have been having this problem with a lot of my print setup now. Also I can't open Design Space in Google anymore.

Hey there - I followed this video before and was able to make the shadow. Now, for whatever reason, I cannot. The "SAVE IMAGE AS" prompt does not come up, only the "SAVE AS", and then it saves as a blank page. Any insights on what I am doing wrong?

Kitten Spears you mirror your images when you get ready to cut. This is usually done for hot projects (htv/heat transfer vinyl) ... that option comes up when you press the green cut/make button
I’m using a Mac computer I switched to Google Chrome brought up design space did what you said the control key with the right key on the mouse and I get nothing. Cricut design space is an App now nit internet. Now what?

I'm still confused about which one to save after the slice.. In fact when I slice it appears that the color I want to be the shadow is now in front instead of in the back. Of course I'm not using a fat bold font like you are.

Keysi Palacios this is a classic problem. Make sure you are manually SELECTING ALL before you EXPORT. Click select all from the top bar. Once you save your svg, make sure the last two boxes are checked (selection only and design space compatible) Come back and let me know if this works

Hey!!! I truly love your videos and I am glad I watched the newer updated one since the update. I don't do this often but would the less expensive software you suggested work to do this as well. I am just starting out and don't want to buy something I may not use very often.
Staci James understandable!!! Many of my students use Inkscape ... I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet but it’s on my bucket list. I believe Inkscape is free.

Tyva, what cricut machine are you using? I try to do the shadow but when I click over the image once is ready to print to save it, do not give me the options you show there. it allow me to save only as a text. An also when the window for printing is open I see you have advanced options and in my do not appear that. thanks.
@@TaiBreland Yes girl! I am so fustrated right now! I have a shirt I'm trying to make for a lady and I'm about to pull my hair out, she wants a black outline around the leopard letters and I can't figure out how to do it. I don't know if it's the font I'm using or what. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
@@TaiBreland I even got to the screen where you click the bleed and I used my snipping tool (screen shot) to get it saved as a png. I uploaded it and cleaned it up but it looks horrible when I upload it to design space. Shoot me now!
Jamia Staggers great question!!! It’s not (when it comes to cutting directly from SCAL) as far as cutting directly from it, but you CAN export it as a png or svg and it will be able to cut on your air 2 ... that’s the machine I have.

Good stuff, but all of the clicking on different functions was too fast for a beginner like myself. I am interested in layering for cut vinyl sticker application and not in heating for t-shirt or cloth transfers.

@@TaiBreland There is a mac program that is free to download called Snip. It screen shots the area you choose and automatically saves as a png. This is the first time I've ever tried making an outline, but I thought it may be a good option that is very easy to use. I have found you can also take a screen shot of your canvas to get the png, screen shot it and then use that image to get the shaded background letters. However, when i did this, I had to use the unlock feature on the word/letter to 'distort' it just a little bit. It's not perfect, but pretty decent.
After Cricut upgraded this last time, they took that feature away ... I absolutely hate this ... I DID try screenshotting the shadow and cleaning it up in Design Space Editor ... it worked but not as smooth as before.
@@TaiBreland i figured out a way to do it in the mean time....for the layer that will be on the bottom - use "shapes" to fill in the open spaces in the letters then merge. it will look like it's all one piece and the openings will be filled in. for example, resize circles to fill in the open spaces in a B

You cant CUT straight from SCAL5 to the Cricut machine, but you CAN save your work as an svg and export it to DS.

Tyva, how did you get your file into SCAL 5 from Design Space? Your videos are great!
Once you save your file as a svg ... you can upload it to CRICUT just like you would normally do any other picture.

Hey!!! I truly love your videos and I am glad I watched the newer updated one since the update. I don't do this often but would the less expensive software you suggested work to do this as well. I am just starting out and don't want to buy something I may not use very often.
Staci James understandable!!! Many of my students use Inkscape ... I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet but it’s on my bucket list. I believe Inkscape is free.

When printing my shadowed R, do I load 2 pieces of card stock at one time???

Tyva, what cricut machine are you using? I try to do the shadow but when I click over the image once is ready to print to save it, do not give me the options you show there. it allow me to save only as a text. An also when the window for printing is open I see you have advanced options and in my do not appear that.

@@TaiBreland Yes girl! I am so fustrated right now! I have a shirt I'm trying to make for a lady and I'm about to pull my hair out, she wants a black outline around the leopard letters and I can't figure out how to do it. I don't know if it's the font I'm using or what. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
@@TaiBreland I even got to the screen where you click the bleed and I used my snipping tool (screen shot) to get it saved as a png. I uploaded it and cleaned it up but it looks horrible when I upload it to design space. Shoot me now!

So I have read that SCAL is not compatible with Cricut Air 2. Have you heard that?
Jamia Staggers great question!!! It’s not (when it comes to cutting directly from SCAL) as far as cutting directly from it, but you CAN export it as a png or svg and it will be able to cut on your air 2 ... that’s the machine I have.

@@TaiBreland There is a mac program that is free to download called Snip. It screen shots the area you choose and automatically saves as a png. This is the first time I've ever tried making an outline, but I thought it may be a good option that is very easy to use. I have found you can also take a screen shot of your canvas to get the png, screen shot it and then use that image to get the shaded background letters. However, when i did this, I had to use the unlock feature on the word/letter to 'distort' it just a little bit. It's not perfect, but pretty decent.
I can't save as an image either, only text. Back to Inkscape.
This technique doesn't work on Mac anymore :(

After Cricut upgraded this last time, they took that feature away ... I absolutely hate this ... I DID try screenshotting the shadow and cleaning it up in Design Space Editor ... it worked but not as smooth as before.

@@TaiBreland i figured out a way to do it in the mean time....for the layer that will be on the bottom - use "shapes" to fill in the open spaces in the letters then merge. it will look like it's all one piece and the openings will be filled in. for example, resize circles to fill in the open spaces in a B
