      I just realized the car I had wasn’t a touring thanks to a commenter, I feel like one of these days I’ll try to find myself a touring to restore as a project!
      The gen 2’s getting slowly forgotten in the days of EVs and new commuter cars that look like race cars. But it’s a solid hybrid that almost anyone can buy now.

    Thank you for taking the time to impart your knowledge and experience. I own a Prius Gen 2 (2010) which is a JDM car imported to Ireland. Although I maintain the car, (some by me and most by my mechanic), I was not aware of the specific components you flagged as being a higher risk of failure i.e. PCV and Serpentine Belt. I will be vigilant of these now and ensure my mechanic takes these into consideration at scheduled maintenance. All the best- Ado (Dublin)

    When you add a GromAudio VLine2 unit to 2nd gen Prius (w/ Nav), this adds CarPlay and more to my Prius extending the functionality. I was able to use Roku stick with this unit meaning that I can watch Netflix or Prime Video on my screen. I can also add TH-cam video as App to the Grom and watch video. It took 2 hours to install without any splicing. It has custom harness. I was able to pair a wireless keyboard with the VLine so that I can type in searches on the TH-cam app faster than the online keyboard. VLine2 unit only works on 2nd gen Prius that has a NAV unit. That is because the custom harness was made for that Prius trim. The VLine unit allows for a mouse via USB port. I use HDMI input port and the 2nd USB port for my Roku stick. It has HDMI output port for backseat headrest monitors. The VLiine unit can cast to smart monitors if you can have smart TV/monitor. It allows for a front or rear camera using a Grom accessory harness. I don’t know if it would work for a side camera. This was the best update for 2nd gen Prius using the existing Prius hardware.

    Thanks for a great video. Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with your Prius. Did you add the strut tower brace? If so, do you know the brand and if it was Prius specific? I know Toyota used to have a brace available from the parts department as a TRD accessory. FYI - your 2007 Prius is not a Touring model. Yours is a base model (chassis 1224) with trim package #6 (which is leather, jbl, nav, xenon lights, fog lamps, etc...) The Touring model (chassis 1226) has a larger rear spoiler, leather wrapped steering wheel, upgraded suspension and 16" wheels with 195/55-16 "V" rated tires. In southern CA you could only order a Touring one way, that was with the package 6 trim option. Anywhere else the Touring chassis could be ordered with any trim package. The Touring chassis cars represent less than 10% of all Prius cars sold between 2007 through 2009, the only 3 years the Touring was made available. The easiest way to tell if your vehicle is a Touring or not is in the driver's door jam. The tire inflation decal for a base model will only list 185/65-15 as it's tire size while the Touring decal list 195/55-16. There are only 2 decals used from 2004 - 2009. As a side note, the 16" wheels where available overseas on Europe and JDM vehicles on gen 2 cars. Also, these overseas cars with the 16" wheels also came with rear disc brakes ( something we never received in the states until gen 3). I speak from experience as we have 3 Touring chassis vehicles in our family, an 07 bought new, an 08 bought from it's original owner and an 09 also bought new. We also have a base model 07 package 4 vehicle that my son drives. Our 07 and 08.both have the Nexcell lithium battery packs. HUGE difference in power and performance. With this battery pack the cars now accelerate up a steep hill. Jack's Dr. Prius app and Nexcell batteries are a "must have" for any 2nd gen Prius owner. I've said it a dozen times before, I'll need to make a video one of these days showing my cars and their differences. Good luck, take care.

      I had no idea it wasn’t a touring 😭 life over.
      But interesting details you’ve added, I’ll keep that in mind if I ever get a 2nd gen Prius since I’m still intrigued about the lithium cells, I wish I had it long enough to see the performance and MPG gains, as for the strut bar, the one I got was from EBay and it was a Prius specific tanabe branded one.
      Thanks for watching, your feedback’s appreciated.

    The dashboard going out- I just had repaired by Exclusively Hybrid in Lake Park, FL; it’s called the combination meter.
    Another MAJOR issue with Gen 2 is the headlights going out; if I would turn lights off/on, they would both come on for a while, then one or both would go out again. It was NOT blowing the bulbs.
    Known Toyota engineering defect (just like the substandard dashboard parts.
    The headlight issue is related to the ballasts going bad - today, I will be converting to LED lights to eliminate the need for ballasts.

    I’m thinking about buying 06 and above and my budget I can only get the over 140k Prius. Are the transmission serviceable?

    • @Im_The_Slep
      @Im_The_Slep  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The transmission as far as I know is bulletproof as long as you change the fluids at the proper intervals. It’s completely possible to do it yourself, dropping the pan and fluid changes

    Hello 👋 I was interested in a 2007 249500 miles it needs wheel bearings, rotors and brakes. It has the following codes b1271,b1650,c1241,c1256,c1300,c1532. Would this car be easy to work on ?

    • @Im_The_Slep
      @Im_The_Slep  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow uhm, with those codes there’s gotta be some electrical issues, personally I’ve never had to deal with many issues other than a Triangle of death issue which is easily resolved by swapping the hybrid battery.
      If you’re comfortable with heavy troubleshooting, and if you can get it for EXTREMELY cheap, go for it.
      But there’s got to be something that caused all of those codes.

      @@Im_The_Slep the rotors are bad and wheel bearings would that cause it ? Chatbot is saying one of the codes is the battery 🪫 says the voltage is going high to low ? What would you offer ? 2000$ tops?

    How much did you buy it? My friend is selling hers the same color is this ok, $8800, 2007 Prius 128k leather seats, a some fading and cracks on the driver seat. With Navigation, fog lights, jbl. some scratches no noticeable dents, some very small paint chipping on the hood where it looks like very small stones hit it. Still has it's spare tire. Some peeling on the top of the car but not the paint but just the over the paint.
