Honestly from my experience,it's not necessary. However to fulfill the Bible verse that says thou shall not forsake the gathering of believers... believers should gather in their houses as it was done in acts to pray once a week,that's all

Christ said "enter your room, lock your door and pray, I see all things" but ofcourse your pastors won't tell you this verse because if you don't come to church, they'll be broke
