    GREAT video! I’ve just order the impeller kit, jet and studs (I use my HSS 1332 to clear a 60x100 rink for my kids on our lake) and I can’t wait to install the upgrades!

    Nice job on all the Mods!. I just bought a used 1132 a few months ago. Can wait to try it out tomorrow in the snow they predicted here. Probably going to put on the same lights you got.

      Hopefully you get to try it out today. We have only gotten a couple of inches in this storm. Not enough to make it worth starting it up.

    Great video! I'm shocked for as handy as you are, you didn't make your own impeller kit!

      I guess you need to look at the video again. i DID make it myself. I even have a list of all of the links for parts in the more information section. I'm just telling others that they might want to save the trouble and buy one online.

    Great job.. you should put a light on the shoot so you could see were you are throwing the snow.. I think it would be cool....

      A light on the chute has been on my list of mods. It would be really cool! I can just see a bright white plume rising above the treetops when I get out near the road.

    Thank-you for the very informative video ,one of the best on utube.Have a few questions (1) Where can I get the lighted switch , and can it be wired so that the light would be on when the switch is off and off when the switch is on? (2) Where can I get the led light? (3) How much current, DC, does the stator on a HSS9 snow blower put out? I want to install hand grip warmers. (4) Could you use 1\2" instead of the bolts in the impeller kit? and ( 5) Would you recommend Honda or Ariens Rapid Trak Prow?..Thanks again, looking forward to the next video.Wils

      @assmunch1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are welcome Wilson. All of the links to the parts are listed under the video. Click Show More. If you have battery electric start, you should have the power necessary for heated grips. Mine is an HS1132 model so I would have to put in a bigger lighting coil for heated grips. The standard one is 15 Watts. Whether you use screws or bolts to hold the impeller kit on, I'd use stainless, so that if it ever deteriorates, you could easily get it off to replace it. The light in the lighted switch picks up it's power when the circuit is complete as the switch is put in the on position. Not sure how you'd get it to be the opposite of that. Obviously you don't even need the switch, but I wanted it on there, because it looks cook and it gives me the ability to signal my neighbor in his tractor when we are snowblowing the road together.

    Nice Job! Thank you for sharing. What did you do with the second red lead coming out of the rectifier? What size hole did you drill for your switch and how is it wired into both lights?? Thank you.

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the particular switch I used, it is a 19mm hole, which is just a tiny bit smaller than 3/4 of an inch. There are two leads from the coil, coming out of the engine. The red wires go to those two wires. Because it is AC, it doesn't matter which one is connected to which. Coming out of the convertor on the DC side it does matter, and it is marked on the case. The yellow wire is positive. The switch gets the yellow wire from the convertor to the center contact, and the positive wire going out to the light is the brass colored terminal. The silver terminal on the outside of the switch gets the black wire from the the convertor and the black wire on the light. This is how the lighted switch lights up, when the circuit through the headlight completes the circuit. If it wasn't a lighted switch, you'd only need to go to the black wire on the light. You don't really NEED a switch, I just wanted one because it looks cool, and I can flash the lights if I want to. :-)

      @@assmunch1 Thank you for your time and detailed response. I only have one AC lead coming out of my GX160 engine in my HS624. Hence should I take both red wires and connected them to the single AC output from the engine? I was wondering about putting a fuse inline from the ac output from the engine to the rectifier, do you think it is needed? If yes, what amperage fuse do you think?

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@duanedunlap852 If you only have one wire, then the other red one will go to ground on the frame or engine. On my HS1132, the housing of the original headlight is plastic, so it had to have a second wire going to the headlight for ground. The output on the HS1132 is 1.25 watts, so a fuse between 2 and 3 amps should do it. I did not put in a fuse.

    Some great mods! i did the impeller mods many years ago on my sears blower,so i did it also on my recently purchased used 1132.with these impller mods, it is lots of more stress on the machines power system,plus the belts,but i feel honda belts (kevlar ones i believe) can handle it ,and yes upjetting is best way to go. i noticed at time 2041---2045 that you pop the machine full reverse and full forward.... I was told by a small engine/snowblower/lawnmower repair shop (reputable guy)that I shouldnt pop it in "full" forward and or "full" reverse,just put it in slow forward and or slow reverse and while you then drive it,slowly move the lever to full forward or reverse only after this procedure first>>>,this way it is easier on the transmission and thus preventing the expensive transmission failure in the future. any thoughts or suggestions??ty Great Video!

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sure that like most things reversing directions at high speeds would put some stress on things, but I did it to demonstrate the speed changes. I don't do it on a regular basis, but being a hydrostatic drive, it can probably take a lot. Why do you think that the impeller mod would put more stress on the machine/belts? Once the impeller has been running for a minute on the first time you use it, it moves freely, just with no gap, and if it is keeping it from clogging on wet snow, it is even less stress. My HS1132 has never clogged though, even before I modified it. I'd be interested to know how much improvement you got on the Craftsmen snow blower. I used to have the 3 stage Craftsmen blower and it was a decent blower for the times, but had serious gaps between the impeller and housing. Did it make great improvements for yours? Do you have any video of it after?

    • @battlehrfred
      @battlehrfred 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@assmunch1 ,ty for your thoughts and input. thats what everyone needs on Ytube is input and experiences from others. yes it surely improved my Craftsman and it was a big plus to moving snow out the chute (whereas i installed a (walmart Krazy carpet slider plastic) also. I have noticed that the belt did wear out faster/stretched and it had to be adjusted tighter by moving the idler pulley tighter.again., as we know, the impeller is moving more snow out the chute. the krazy carpet surely helped because it was less friction,thus less stress on the belt ( honda uses a thicker Kevlar Belt than most snowblowers as far as i understood). no sorry i am not really into videos, but it may happen in the future.! Happy Snowclearing fun!! later.TKS

    Many Thanks! This certainly Helps
    I got Lucky 4 days ago; bought a HS1132 in excellent condition.
    I’m certainly going to do your headlight upgrade.
    Questions:
    1) -=> Did the carb jet size increase make much difference? Cause problems?
    2) -=> I want a copy of the Service Manual, any suggestions?
    Thanks Again

      The bigger jet made a huge difference, when you tie into enough deep snow for it to kick in and get aggressive. Ask Anthony Vanucci on the Honda Snowblower Enthusiast Facebook page. He is the master of all the Service manual stuff.

      @@oscarbead is the convertor you ordered AC to DC? There is a cheaper convertor on Ebay that is DC To DC, but that will not work, since the output of the Honda HS1132 is 20v AC with no load.

      @oscarbead 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@assmunch1 Thanks for your concern and followup
      It’s a rectifier/regulator, same specs as yours;
      Input: AC 24V (15V - 28V)
      Output: DC 12V 5A 60W (Max) …should do 3A continous just fine
      46mm x 32mm x 18mm
      Your converter is unusual, due to its’ uncommon VAC input range, which is Perfect for this application. Waay better than the DIY bridge rectifier + capacitor (+ voltage regulator module if needed for cheap LED light).

      @@oscarbead Sounds good. I just didn't want you to get the wrong thing and be bummed out. Yeah, it's way better than making up your own with the bridge rectifier and capacitors. So, you may already be aware of this, but I wasn't until the other day, when I needed to order some stuff from Amazon, and saw the "free shipping to an Amazon locker" option. Being in a very rural area, I figured that no way they'd have such a thing here, but to my surprise, they had several locations within the area that I'd normally drive. When my package arrived, they emailed me a QR code, and I went to the location, which was outside (under cover) at a shopping mall, and there was a wall of lockers, with an ATM like screen in the middle. I held my phone up in front of it, and my locker popped open and I grabbed my package. No shipping charge. Kinda cool.

    The best possible mod would be to raise the handle height to prevent stooping and back pain.
    Is there a difference on the led mod for the 1132 with electric start?

    • @jamesnm21
      @jamesnm21 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fairly easy to lengthen the handles with steel pipe. Not sure if the cables would need lengthening or adjusting.

  • @Peter-976
    @Peter-976 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just wondering, were you not satisfied with the discharge of the 1132 that made you decide to do the impeller mod or was it having trouble with wet snow or just because you wanted to do it and see if it made a difference?

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Never have even come close to clogging. If you listen to my comments I say you don't need to do this modification, but I wanted to see if it made a difference, so it was just my curiosity. All of my other videos are with the stock machine except for one, which I posted that it was modded in that one a few weeks ago.

    Why did you say you may go smaller jet? Is the spark plug getting carboned up? When going with a bigger jet, is it beneficial to change spark plug gap?

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Only because it seemed like it was running rich a couple of times, but I didn't change it and it is fine. Not sure on changing the gap, but it is running fine with the standard gap.

    How about hand grip electric hand warmers???

    • @assmunch1
      @assmunch1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be a great and necessary modification, but I'd need to put a heavier lighting coil in the engine, because it is already maxed out on the stock lighting coil with my LED lights. Maybe some day.
