@@BishopAquatics I use to raise guppies but it got so prolific I was swamped with them in 2 yrs & got out of it so how do you keep from getting swamped with them ?
Thank you. A LOT of really critical and unhelpful people would definitely say that there are "too many" fish in the tank, especially at 5:05 +++ . As long as I have enough oxygen, I keep my tanks the same and they are just as active.
Yeah, there is so many myths and misinformation in the hobby with regards to number of fish in a tank. I'm 100% with you; as long as the tank is balanced and the fish are happy, you can keep a massive amount in a single tank!
I do at least a 20% water change per week and keep my parameters accurate and I have over 50 guppies in a 20 gallon. If you know what you are doing, You can have more than recommended fish in a tank. That inch per gallon rule is just for a rough estimation.
Hm, interesting idea. The only issue is we use a variety of all of those things depending on the size of the tank or pond. Did you have a specific setup in mind?
Thank you!! Great question. Not in all of the tanks, we do in some for the plants that require it and some that do not for propagation purposes. Almost all of our plants will do fantastic without it; the only difference being the grow time.
We separate the fry from adults, but not by fry gender. When color comes in on the guppies, the mutations are separated into a cull tank that is delivered to local fish stores.
Good looking room! I'm currently setting up a breeding project for some blue panda guppies. What would you recommend for a colony tank size wise? I'm thinking of doing 2 x 20 gallons for main colonies (two incase I lose one) 2 x 10 gallons for fry and or male female holding and a 2 x 20gallon bins for culls that don't make the mark and will be sold cheap to lfs. Sound like a good plan to you? Btw all tanks wil be loaded with tons of biological media with internal filters and a variety of plants.
Hey Zayan, almost all of our tanks and ponds have sponge filters which provide oxygen, those that do not have hang on back filters which disturbs the water, also oxygenating the water. For videos we sometimes turn the air pump off because it is very loud.
Great question! We've been using a variety of lights in the past trying to figure out which one we like the most. I think we have an answer to that question and will have a video on it in the next week or so. I'll send a link in this thread once the video comes out so you can get a detailed explanation!
They do! We keep them for a few generations to make sure they breed true before we label it as anything. Sometimes these strains throw off 5-10% of their fry with mutations but they still carry the parent genes.
Not that they can't reproduce......Sometimeswhen you hit the threshold of inbreeding ribbon's, It causes the gonopodium to grow too large for the male to use so they can't breed. This started showing up when breeders started to try to make the ribbon gene more dominant and longer. So you just have to watch the offspring for that matter and if it starts happening, You have to start an outcross strain to correct it.
What would you change about this fish room?
Your camera ……

@@ismaeilhassan6688 LMAO! Bishop set himself up with that Question! The camera is fine . Just a lil sarcastic humor is all!
The camera is fine, the microphone and the sound overall is definitely worst and can be improved
As someone looking to breed guppies and document the process, thank you. This was a really nice look into your setups! They look really heallthy!
Glad it was helpful!

Very beautiful
Thank you!
Good fish room, the fish are beautiful, but can't see them too far away,
Sorry about that
It is super clean your tanks. I like it. I have 16g with guppies. Those kind of plants you have, what are their names?
Uhhh, not sure which one you're talking about specifically but here is where all our plants are! bishopaquatics.com/collections/freshwater-plants
Can you make a video on the setup of your guppy tanks? Like what equipment, plants, water parameters, etc.
Hm, interesting idea. The only issue is we use a variety of all of those things depending on the size of the tank or pond. Did you have a specific setup in mind?

Nice setup do you separate the male and female fry.

Awesome content nice setup.. I must say the plants are beautiful if only I could have a planted tanks as beautiful as yours.
Thank you! You definitely can, we do all low-tech setups!

Sounds like a killer setup! I would say at least one 20 and one 10, for the main colony and one for culls. Anything more is great!
how often do you do water changes.
As needed, as much as 3x/week or as little as 1x/month
Depends on the a amount of plants/fish and observable conditions.
I love your collection of Guppies 😍
a question, I don’t see any bubble oxygen in the tanks so does it mean the plants are providing enough oxygen?

9:45 looks like dumbo mosaic guppies to me

Bro i want to buy some trio of red mosaic they are so pretty.
I believe we still have plenty! They're one of our best sellers!
Is it true that male guppies with Ribbon Fins cannot reproduce?
Not that they can't reproduce......Sometimeswhen you hit the threshold of inbreeding ribbon's, It causes the gonopodium to grow too large for the male to use so they can't breed. At what week do you put the fries in the big tank? Thank you in advance 🔥
We go by size, when they're larger than the mature guppies mouth, you're good!
@@BishopAquatics hmm that would be around 3-4 weeks.
The UNKNOWN guppy are "DUMBO EAR MOSAIC GUPPY"
Them guppies you don't know what they are, look like dumbo dragon
That seems to be the consensus! We're letting them breed to see if the fry hold the pattern.
@Bishop Aquatics I have the same guppies, I also breeding dumbo with endler guppies beautiful turnout
