Dick Johnson , when he was alive, lived there in Az. He showed Swordtails in the IFGA and was one hell of a good breeder. I am glad to count him as a friend in my life. It would be great if some other person from Az would get onto the IFGA bench and start dominating a class.
Plants will grow in any substrate for the most part, Just avoid gravel vaccing if they're root feeders, if they're column feeders it wont matter at all!
No is not pearl weed.. from.minute 11:05 .on.. you keep the female blue topaz to give birth. After you show the pearl weed with the fry . You show the next breeding box. Female blue topaz. That's a different plant. Not pearl weed.can you tell me what plant that is please? Many thanks julian
I checked again, all the breeding boxes are filled with pearl weed, some of it is throwing down roots and has a lot of space between leaf's so it looks a little different. Other than that I spotted a couple small Taiwan lily in the breeding box as well!
@@BishopAquatics I live in Texas & it can get up to 125-135-plus(air temp) degrees in our small back-yard due to the Summers in August & the concrete pad around the small pool. I don't think the concrete pad cools down enough during the summer. Our nite-time temperatures during August is 85°. We do not even take our dog out. Should I keep my guppies inside or can they survive the heat? We bought this house from owner's who we think lived here from the 1960's. I am just a very small hobbyist? - Thank-you for doing your Video.
We keep our lights on for 8-12 hours a day depending on the plants in the aquarium. The ponds light cycle is naturally controlled of course. If your lights are being kept on in that range, the issue could be too many nutrients. Overload of nutrients can be a result of too much fertilizer or decaying matter (food, plants, dead stuff). This can be resolved by adding more plants and cleaners (corys, shrimp, etc.) or reducing the amount of food/nutrients. For really clear water you need a good balance between light, plants, and nutrients. Any imbalance will result in algae or dying plants.

@@raisinggoldfishonabudget7058 We try to be very open and honest with all our successes, failures, and what we do about each of them! In the case of sick fry, it does happen. We try to save all fry on birth which leads to some having weak genetics and require some medicine to make it into adulthood.
What do you think of the new grow out room?

@@BonnieGBell-ul5eh Hey Bonnie did you checkout our outside pond videos? They're based in Phoenix, AZ which has similar temps!
Hi. How many hours of light do you keep your tanks on a day please? Mine gets alot of brown algae on the glass.

How do you catch ‘em all. That’s crazy
The fry? You get good at it over time. They also start to associate you with food so they come right you haha.
Hello were can I buy sum of your guppies from
Bishopaquatics.com
Hi. Great video. What's the name of the plants you have with the albino topaz female in the breeder box please? Thank you
Pearl Weed! The best plant for fry. www.bishopaquatics.com/25-pearl-weed-stems

Do you separate the m/f fry.
We do not separate our male and female fry. Once they're colored out we cull the unfavorable ones into our mutt guppy tubs.
He called it the guppy room then he said right after the “gaper” room
Don't forget overcrowding stunts guppies and in nature 9/10 of those fry would get eaten before adulthood
