I absolutely hate how series on TH-cam don’t stand a chance. Short form media has killed so many great series ideas over the past couple of years. I would’ve loved to see the 1.19 All Advancements Series
Personally I end up not watching a full series because I end up forgetting where I was in them. If youtube had special links that would go to whichever video in the series I was last on, that would help a lot for me. Way easier to binge-watch them that way like you do a show. I know there's a watch-later thing, but it's tedious micromanaging that.
@@Merivio you do know that TH-cam puts a red bar across the thumbnails of videos you’ve watched, right? Using that along with the series playlist is literally the easiest thing in the world
As long as I can see everything that's happening in the game, I don't care what kind of overlays might take up the screen. I think smallant does a great job of balancing the chat/notifications with the stream by shrinking the game a bit. I can certainly see the benefit of having an overlay that does the notifications rather than you having to do it all the time, seems like a lot to remember and tedious to do.
It also just depends on the type of game he's playing. Maybe some game is chill and it doesn't matter as much, but other games might demand attention to detail here and there. I honestly don't mind it, if cap wants to do it I'm totally ok with it.
I think asking the question "what sets this apart from a live stream?" Is a great approach to take. I honestly love seeing chat when watching stream vods because some chatters are hilarious and I like seeing the jokes and other people's opinions about what's going on in real time.
I do see other streams that have the sponsors in the corner rotating out so that's a good idea :) definitely think chat could be a hit or miss for some people, but I think ultimately it's just a difference between youtube culture and twitch culture. I personally couldn't make the move over to twitch, but I watch twitch vods on youtube, and I think that's something to keep in mind for your youtube audience
As someone who doesn’t get a chance to tune in live, watching streams back without chat on screen can make you feel like you’re missing 50% of the conversation. I like watching vods back with chat on screen, set up the way like darkviperAU and kruzadar does, with chat just below themselves on screen instead of the bit notifications etc. would be better to have the subs and bits as a small pop up to one side as once they’ve happened they play no relevance on what’s going on. But chat constantly plays a part in what’s going on! (Unless it’s something like vault when bits and subs directly impact the game)
chat speed is what would determine it for me. if messages are going by at a reasonable readable pace, then it doesn't bother me to have them displayed. they serve a purpose. if they are so fast they just turn into a stream of characters cluttering a side of the screen, then pls no thank you.
On the topic of stream vs. video, I love the replay mod's second perspective. Having more videos than streams also means that I can still watch his content even if/when I don't have the 2 hours to watch a stream all the way through.
As someone who occasionally lurks in the live streams, I would appreciate chat being shown on screen. Also being a youtube vod enjoyer, I think it would be nice to see what chat is saying at any given time and to see what Jardon is responding to from chat.
I personally love having the twitch chat on screen. It's nice to see what folks saying to get both sides of the conversation going on. Albeit, since your a larger stramer I'm not sure how effective it would actually be since chat scrolls at a mile a minute.
@@GMP1isReal Hmm, ya, just checked a twitch vod and (I mean this in the best possible way) looks like I overestimated the size of Jordan's chat. Looks like it's on par with SmallAnt or PointCrow and I've never found their chats on screen to be too distracting. I guess I'm just use to the Mianite Season 1 days since I haven't really watched live since then (Ever since the VOD channel went live it's been the main way I watch Jaruon since I can watch the full stream but on my own schedule).
I like having chat on screen; whether people like it or not, this is a stream, not a recording, and so not being able to see chat can feel like you’re missing out at times. I also love seeing jokes chat makes and the sense of community present there. The main issue I think is that it requires more dedication from your mods, as they only have a short time to react to a message before it appears on screen. You would probably have to put chat in slow mode for a while until the novelty of being on screen wears off, and even then you might want to create a delay between chat messages being sent and appearing on the stream overlay. As much as I enjoy seeing chat, I also understand that it’s extra effort for something people will inevitably complain about, so do what you want! ❤️
What i like is like how InTheLittleWood does it and has chat on at the beginning and end of streams (and on some transitions when tabbing out to other things etc.) but that it doesn't show ontop of gameplay as that can be distracting or obscure things. Another way would be to have a chat overlay on the live recording for those that watch Twitch live but have the YT recording without the chat overlay to give folks choice.
As someone who watches Smallant from time to time, I think it's fine. Agree with everything every one else is saying. As long as we can see everything that's happening in the game, it's probably a cool change
There are plenty of streamers who have chat on screen, and its very enjoyable. I personally find it rally cool to be a part of twitch chat in a way, because its a lil disconnecting sometimes, but im okay with whatever, but yes for twitch chat on screem!!
As someone who mainly watches the vods and is unable to join in on the streams (cuz of time zone differences) i would really like to see the chat and whats going on. And as for the sponsor section i dont think it will a problem for alot of people if done corectly.
@@shawneeg214 can I ask how you guys feel about a layout like Ludwig's? I'm primarily a mobile user and I've never found it distracting or obtrusive tbh
Cycling through the sponsors would be fine with me as long as I can still see most of the game. Chat would be too distracting. I usually watch you and X33n via my mobile app and it's a smaller phone screen.
Adding more overlay stuff wouldn't change whether or not I watch videos here, but I do prefer having less screen space occupied by that kind of thing. More importantly, make fondant yourself. The only reason people tend to dislike fondant is the fact all the stuff you can get in a store has preservatives which significantly impact the taste and isn't made with the best ingredients. You will want to look up a marshmallow fondant recipe and sub out the oil or shortening with unsalted butter.
I think the best thing you could do is a transparent background chat in the bottom left. The full screen helps to immerse in the experience, and it seems colder and more distant if you have 1/2 to 3/4 of the screen taken up by more official things, like sponsors and donations. I think you can do what you want, but the full-screen gameplay seems essential to me.
I think chat is a no. No Matter how big the chat appears or where it is on screen its distracting. Especially when you have people spamming or saying the same things over again. As for the graphic? I think would be cool to see/try. Only worry is that It might not show everyone's sub/notifications. It might skip out on a few people if it doesn't update nicely.
For videos on Main Channel, one thing I'd love to see is the Random crafting/looting but with other youtubers/players. The sheer chaos of two people trying random datapacks together would be worth main channel content to me.
About the "why does this need to be a TH-cam video" thing- some people, including myself, don't really like watching hour+ long videos, so shorter main channel vids are more appealing than livestreams
I'd love to see chat, especially for the random crafting/drop vids so that we can see people yelling at you. It would add a lot to the videos for people who missed the livestream
I personally like the chat overlays, feel like most people who watch streamers especially those who stream on twitch are used to chat and wouldn't mind. Sometimes when we watch old VODs, streamers will answer questions or respond to chat and we have no idea the context on the conversations so I like reading the chat to get the flow of the convo. Also some people in chat are genuinely funny or drop some good facts and that is content in itself
Hmm... A series that is not episodic but with every video can be watched individually that also features multiple people. That to me sounds a lot like THE BUILDING GAME. Please Jordan please just one more Building Game I would love it
I would absolutely love the layout change. It's always fun to see the chat because you can't readout every brilliant or hilarious comment. EDIT: It would definitely be for the best if it were a smaller chat window than you would see on like Smallant or other popular streamers.
I watch Ludwig vods and I love the Interactions that we can see from chat as we can’t make it to the live videos but I think it would be more uniform with the rest of the VOD content on TH-cam
If I'm honest, I think it'd be fun to watch like a modded series with a few friends like with a mod pack or maybe something with lucky blocks. If you're trying to move on from those types, that's completely understandable too.
For chat, Philza keeps his in a shorter form up in the corner. Because you can still see behind the words and it’s in the corner I find it easy to still focus of the gameplay.
I only watch the vods, not the live stream. It’s nice seeing overlays at times because you can watch the chat say what you’re thinking as you’re thinking it. Btw my favorite things to watch are maps, datapacks, and the first third of series before my attention span falls off and there’s too many for me to reasonably catch on. That toilet series was perfect for me. Short, full of things to explore, and objective-based but open
Cycling through the sponsorships would be fine, and I agree with some comments saying that chat can be nice as at times it feels like im missing out on a conversation. That bring said if it's flying by so quickly that it's illegible than I'd rather not have the distraction
I find only watching videos that pop up on the home page kinda wack. If you sub to a channel and want to see more of their content, use the subscriptions page. It's there for a reason. If you wanna find new content, yeah you can use the homepage, but that's not the only source of content. When you're watching a video, there's recommendations on the side, and now there are categories you can filter them by, including a "new to you" category. Same on the homepage. Then you can add videos you find interesting to a queue. Tbh, youtube should advertise these features more if people are barely using them.
I know I might be late to the party but I just want to voice my opinion about having a set up more akin to a Small Ant stream. I think the more minimalist set up Cap S has is more appropriate for a gameplay streamer who really want to really play the game at their own pace and enjoy the little bits of things. SmallAnt however is more about speedrunning (hence the timer) and community suggestions of what to do in game. He doesn't focus on the games he plays as much as Cap S does. They are just different types of TH-camrs in the gaming genre on here. I watch both because they do different thing and have different forms of interactions with their fanbases. I don't know if I am the only one that feels this way but that's my opinion. Hope everyone has a lovely day.
I really like the chat the way you described it, with chat on screen but in it's own place so it doesn't cover the game. Let's me see what people in chat are saying while at the same time being able to watch the video at a later date if I don't catch the stream.
I say yes to new stream visuals setup! we shouldn’t be afraid of change and you’re giving lots of people free entertainment so you deserve to try what you want with your platform.
I think that for the mainline channel, more story based and linear maps like Logicless and This Side Up fit it best, along with collaborations like Classics and Miscommunications. The chat can tend to spoil some story beats or puzzle solutions.
i can see how being able to see the twitch chat could be distracting but for the most part if you focus on the gameplay you can kinda ignore the chat so it wouldn't be *too* distracting if that makes sense. basically what i'm trying to say is that i think it would be nice being able to see chat as long as it doesn't take away from being able to see the game
If I want to watch chat I can use the twitch recording rather than the youtube recording. People have the option to watch chat already, so I'm not sure your extra effort provides anything new to viewers
Not sure what jardon is talking about at 20:20, main channel videos get wayyy more views than captainsparklez2 videos, and many people really appreciate the editing on the main channel videos. It makes a lot of sense to me to save some of the better ideas for content for the main channel, so that more work can be put into those videos and more people can get to watch them. Edit: Main channel dead??? Why did jardon say that? The videos on the main channel regularly get 100-300k views, whereas the videos on the second channel rarely get more than 100k views, most get 40-60k views at most. What is Jordan on about???
i think doing an overlay with chat and the ad rolls and stuff would be a fine addition, at the end of the day it only really matters what you want your stream to look like lol.
Chat on screen is pretty common. A lot of streamers that I watch have it set up that way. I'm sure most of the folks who watch here on CS2 will like being able to read what chat says finally. I normally watch on Twitch and I won't mind the double chat because I'm used to it.
I personally don't like chats in vids. I like that it feels like normal video just with Jordan. And all the Important context from chat I can get from him, cause he is doing a great job with verbalizing their comments
You could try maybe doing a Welyn type format for Minecraft, where you’re narrating and creating a story of something cool you did on a server/mini game.
As someone who never watches streams, the main reason I don't watch every video is there are too many people I like to watch. My watch later playlist has over 3500 videos in it.
An idea would be to make a small minecraft dev team, that could make custom minecraft datapacks/mods. Nothing huge, unless you decide to do so occasionally, but something you can showcase on a regular basis and ask viewers what they think would be cool to add to minecraft (viewer interaction for youtube algorithm yay) Then y'all could possibly release the datapack/mod to the public (or behind the youtube membership thing). It could be specified that these datapacks/mods won't be maintained and it's a single version release thing for fun. I would imagine the content to be similar to SystemZee, McMakistein, PhoenixSC, doctor4t, & Blockixel Artistry. It's very clickbait-y, very curiosity hitting, & with the main channel's type of editing, could be very fun to watch to.
Hey Captain! Please keep the screen as clean as you can. On other channels where we can see twitch chat I never bother to read it, the text is usually to small and scrolling by fast. pointless. Thx.
I understand the ppl who want to see the chat but as far as I know, when you watch the twitch Replay they show the "real time" chat from the stream don't they? I like the clean look now and find it mostly distracting if there's just a waterfall of words obstructing half of what's happening in game... I think you do a great job at "telling" us what chat is saying so (unless that's a hassle for you) I think everything is really nice the way it is 🥰
As far as what would set your main channel apart (Been around since before the first Minute by the way, love it here😁), I would say you could be part of a motion that brings back Minecraft Roleplays, like not just on a server like with origins, but something where you'd actually have to be in character over the course of the video. I don't know if you'd enjoy it or if it's possible these days anymore, but I know I'd watch it
I personally love your streams, however I like watching them on TH-cam, and having the subs, bits or even sponsors on the screen dont bother me. I think it will benefit you more in the long run having the sponsors on screen then not. BTW love your random drop streams. You make losing your mind hilarious.. lol
I vote no to chat on-screen. After the MCC win, I went and looked up various streamers' reactions, and those who had chat on screen were so distracting/obnoxious to me and I really disliked how much of the screen it obscured. So for me, it's a no.
I like these to feel like streams. The production on the main channel feels like too much and so I appreciate these wayyyy more. I like the donation overlay more than chat because it's easier to focus on game play than chat but that part is negligible
I mean as the ingame MC is rarely needed, you may put the twitch chat on that spot :D well personally, I don't need it but I don't mind it either, is has it's positive features but also it's negativ features. Pro - as a live viewer you know what going on in the chat even when viewing in full screen, so you don't miss out Neg - like with every addition the screeen, without adjusting your game screen, you just Crop the game in this area until nothing is left xD
Even if the chat were built into a border that doesn’t obstruct gameplay, it would still shrink it a lot and watching on mobile especially would be less enjoyable. You can watch the VODs on twitch and see chat so I can’t see it being necessary on CS2.
I often wish I could see chat when watching the videos on TH-cam. When ever you ask chat something or reference something happinging in chat I feel like the kid that doesn't understand the inside joke. I'm all for chat on the screen.
Personally, I think being able to see chat would be fun. When I am able to tune in on twitch, others in the chat does say funny things that I think would be fun to see on the TH-cam side. Especially if it’s like “oh hey someone live thought the same as me when x thing happened lol.” Honestly, the subs are more distracting for me cause I don’t really care about them. Like it’s great you get so much support!! But you also read them off and thank people live regardless, so I’m not totally sure what the point of having it under your face is ^^’ I think having a scrolling sponsor would be alright. Nothing to say really for or against. As long as the gameplay can still be seen and there’s a good balance, that’s what matters most. :)
i feel like a chat box would be good as you can gather more context and see what other people are saying in situations like this where otherwise the captain would appear to just be talking to himself

I'm cool with the changes u're talking about. You're great with wtvr u do Jordan ❤️
Hope everyone has a lovely day.
about the screen overlay thing: DEWIT!!!
24:00
100% would watch main vid but would absolutely try to catch that live!
I like watching vods with the chat on screen and seeing how they react to what's happening
It depends on the content you’re playing, but in any case it has its own advantages and disadvantages
You could try maybe doing a Welyn type format for Minecraft, where you’re narrating and creating a story of something cool you did on a server/mini game.
Personally I like the clean look that you have atm. Some streamers have the chat displayed etc but it really is distracting and annoying.
This!!!!!!!
I actually love the chat overlay so i hope to see it in the future. Lets me know what chat is saying as well
10:50 i like small ants style set up
As someone who never watches streams, the main reason I don't watch every video is there are too many people I like to watch. My watch later playlist has over 3500 videos in it.
An idea would be to make a small minecraft dev team, that could make custom minecraft datapacks/mods.
Nothing huge, unless you decide to do so occasionally, but something you can showcase on a regular basis and ask viewers what they think would be cool to add to minecraft (viewer interaction for youtube algorithm yay)
Then y'all could possibly release the datapack/mod to the public (or behind the youtube membership thing).
3:18 Captain: So far I haven't failed.
2:33
am I a joke to you?
Hey Captain! Please keep the screen as clean as you can. On other channels where we can see twitch chat I never bother to read it, the text is usually to small and scrolling by fast. pointless. Thx.
I don't care as long as you make your amazingly great content
I prefer not having chat on screen. I'm a older gamer so all that fancy chat while watching is just making me confused 😅 i like it clean
I highly recommend the puzzle map Confusing Cubes 2!
I understand the ppl who want to see the chat but as far as I know, when you watch the twitch Replay they show the "real time" chat from the stream don't they? I like the clean look now and find it mostly distracting if there's just a waterfall of words obstructing half of what's happening in game... I think you do a great job at "telling" us what chat is saying so (unless that's a hassle for you) I think everything is really nice the way it is 🥰
The idea is cool, maybe you can use it as a chance to stream here on youtube, and maybe bring back the wall behind you.
I think it would be fun to watch the 1.19 all advancements with you working together with another player.
Please plsease do not start editing these like main channel vids lmao
@@bevobexley4087 The main channel vids are awesome though. He’ll never edit these like those, you don’t gotta worry about that.
@@scriptrixdeo awesome for you, maybe lol. i've stopped watching the main channel bc of the overproduction
Chat: No, don't do it.
People watching on YT: Yes, do it.
Sounds like the choice is Cap's unless, democracy.
I won't know how i feel until i see it but it sounds like it'd be fine to have chat on screen so long as the game view doesnt suffer
I mean as the ingame MC is rarely needed, you may put the twitch chat on that spot :D
well personally, I don't need it but I don't mind it either, is has it's positive features but also it's negativ features.
Pro - as a live viewer you know what going on in the chat even when viewing in full screen, so you don't miss out
Neg - like with every addition the screeen, without adjusting your game screen, you just Crop the game in this area until nothing is left xD
Even if the chat were built into a border that doesn’t obstruct gameplay, it would still shrink it a lot and watching on mobile especially would be less enjoyable. You can watch the VODs on twitch and see chat so I can’t see it being necessary on CS2.
Ooo a random with Kara or x33n would be cool
I love you cap, even if I can't catch the streams. I love that you post on TH-cam anyways
i feel like a chat box would be good as you can gather more context and see what other people are saying in situations like this where otherwise the captain would appear to just be talking to himself
