IVECO is actually Inustrial VEhicle COporation, quite a clever acronym.
Owned by FIAT but has long had a partnership with Ford, IVECO head office is actually in Amsterdam.
On British roads these days there's the Big 7 when it comes to the makes of trucks or lorries as we usually call them.
There are 2 makes from Germany: Mercedes Benz Trucks and
    MAN Trucks.
There are 2 makes from Sweden:
    Volvo Trucks and
    Scania Trucks
    The final 3 are:
    DAF Trucks (UK/Netherlands)
    Renault Trucks (France)
    IVECO trucks.

I love European Trucks, because of it's modern interior, but American Trucks like Freightliner Cascadia, International LT Series, Volvo VNL 860 are suitable for Long Haul, because of their spacious cabin with various features. such as the fridge, wardrobe, microwave, tv mount and some even have their own toilet. whereas, European Trucks are designed for shorter distances.

I got a 1991 Volvo Day cab, brand new. Started it the first day, hooked to my trailer (it was in early January in Ontario Canada) headed out on the and less then 10 miles from our yard, the truck died. reason, they put a sensor that can freeze in front of the radiator. TRhey moved to behind the Radiator, and that truck ran fine until the day in late October, when I no longer could drive a truck due to memory issues

Volvo Group may be the second largest in numbers of production. But that's because their higher quality causes the price to increase and as a result for more average spenders the Daimler group seems a better choice. What Daimler lacks in reliability and safety however, Volvo has as a major selling point hands down. Oh and, don't get me started on safety.

We have DAF, Volvo and Daimler in our company. Quite frankly, they all have their strong and weak points. None of them is more reliable anymore like in the old days. Mercs have issues with the cooling system, Volvo's electrical system is a mess and DAF can't get it's sensors working without throwing daily error codes. Volvo has the strongest engine and transmission combination, Mercedes the best steering and front axle and DAF the best riding comfort. From a driver's perspective, the DAF is probably the best in the field of comfort, space and usability. Volvo's cabin is a tiny birdhouse with minimal storage and a questionable (at best) driver's "interface". Who on earth designed a truck for midgets that has an assortment of "gloveboxes" and a menu-driven panel at the bunk for controlling the lights, windows etc...! Oh...and their "we don't offer a retarder because you won't need one since our engine brake is sooooo strong....so strong my....

One wants to have maximum loadfloor length within legal overall length. Also on reefers and boxtrailers it looks closer, due to wind deflectors to improve aerodynamics. Between these deflectors there ain't much, because that space is needed when the trailer runs to curves. These deflectors can also be opened to give the drivers space to work on the climate unit or on the airlines. Can also come in handy for Ro ro work, when the roof of trailer comes to close to the deflectors.

The best in the market is Deimler although truck haters call their products junk Deimler makes the best. The Cascadia XL series and the Western Star X series are the best trucks on the market they are fuel efficient and their Detroit D16 engines meet all requirements. The reason Deimler gets a bad rap is their contract with Swift Knight every truck that gets sent to Pheonix gets wrecked earning them the bad names Freight Shakers for Freightliner and Ware Smashers for Western Star most of these names come from people who drive Petes and Kenworths with the Cummins engines. Because of this CEPA has banned trucks with Cummins engines in California you must have the Paccar MX13 or the Cat 18 engine to be allowed in. Cummins engines are horrible they emit bad emissions, and they have EGR problems which is why owners and dealers are pulling them out and replacing them with MX13s and Cats.

You are crazy or you know very little about this, no truck in the United States can ever be the best truck. They are junk next to the Europeans. They use the development that is obsolete in Europe and they are worse at everything. I'm from Mexico I come from using American trucks all my life, we manufacture them here, now I have a Scania R620, that truck humiliates any American truck

If it wasn't for the fact that Daimler merged with Chrysler many years ago they wouldn't be the world's largest truck maker. It's a long story but most of this happened when the split took place Chrysler had to give up Freightliner and Thomas school buses. Most of the larger freight companies buy the Freightliners because they buy them in bulk and they are cheaply made.
