  • A visit to the Mid-Hants Railway for their Autumn Steam Gala event during the weekend of the 6th - 8th October 2023. The theme for the gala was Branch Line with a title of seven locomotives in action on an intensive timetable off passenger and freight trains.

    Bagnall 0-6-0ST No.401 "Vulcan" (visiting from the North Tyneside Railway)
    London North Western Railway 'Webb Coal Tank' No.1054 (visiting from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway)
    Great Western Railway 5205 Class No.5239 "Goliath" (visiting from the the Dartmouth Steam Railway)
    Three home fleet locos in action were...
    Peckett No.1788 "Kilmersdon"
    British Railways London Midland Region Class 2MT No.41312
    Somerset & Dorset Joint Railway 7F Class No.53808 (Making it last gala appearance before withdraw for overhaul)

    My special needs son and I really like British 🇬🇧 steam locomotives 🚂 he says the green steam engine at 2:25, the black one numbered 41312, and the one with the name Fenchurch remind him of Percy, Stepney, and Arthur from The Railway Series and Thomas and Friends.

    Nice variety of steamies. It must be very rare to see Tiny Terrier Tank Engine, Fenchurch, visiting the Mid-hants Railway. You're a very lucky young lad.

    For me the immaculate LNWR 'Coal Tank' built in the 1870s by F W Webb in gleaming 'blackberry black' livery was the star of the show showing its versatility on a short shuttle service and as front loco on a double header the length of the line (Sat visit)
