How difficult it is to travel to Botswana without any reservations? This is a unique story of my solo camping trip without having booked any campsites and parks, driving 4800km in the most remote corners of Botswana during the peak holiday season. I was told by everybody that I choose the wrong time of the year to visit this country without having booked in advance the campsites. People who want to go camping in Botswana in July and August plans its holiday up to one year in advance to be sure of finding available campsites.
My experience in Botswana pushed me to challenge these rumors and at the same time to study an ideal route for my future safaris. Thanks for watching my video. Please subscribe to my channel and share this video. Enjoy.
Nice video. Well done
Thank you very much!
So in the end you found availability in most camps, correct? How did you plan this trip? Where did rent Land Cruiser from?
I didn’t have a plan and I was not under time pressure. In the past I did a similar trip in CKGR and KTP but this time I decided to cover the central and the norther part of Botswana. I went to study an itinerary for my guests. The people I met at the campsites told me which campsites to visit next. I had hard time finding a campsite in the Moremi area. I went to see many campsites that the agency told me were fully booked and found them completely empty! Very strange. I suspect that the agencies don't cancel the reservations or people just change their minds and don't go. I rented the car in South Africa.
Hi bro, very motivated to travel to Botswana. After watching your vidoes. How you get rent a car 4 wheel . Give me some guidance. And myself family with 3 kids. So is it safe for me to travel
Many thanks for your comment. It's a great country to visit. It should be on your bucket list. I'm organising these adventures so please contact me on my Telegram for more information (+998 940941257).
From Kasane you could have gone through Ihaha to Maun and not done Kasane twice
You are right but when I arrived in kasane the first time Ihaha was fully booked. Only when I arrived in Maun I could book Ihaha.
How many days did you travel?
3 weeks. Now that I know the itinerary I do it in 2 weeks
@@4x4Bucketlistadventures which stops/camps fo you recommend? Which route would you recommend to us. We are super interested in doing something like you did.
What prior offroading knowledge does one need to do a trip lile this?
@@KongKillha Thanks for your comments. When are you planning your trip? I think the video is giving you a good idea about the route. Follow that route and you will enjoy your trip. The tracks are tough in the Moremi area and in Chobe National Park. Very sandy during the dry season and muddy during the rainy season. In other words, you should have good experience with 4x4 cars. However, I have seen a lot of people without experience getting stuck and enjoying the trip. With my guest I will be in that area in June and July 2024 and I know that it will be great.
