What "Lord of Chaos" the movie didn't show is Varg was in love with Euronymous (some Burzum songs reflect this). The prince of death said no. He ended dead and joined Dead.
Who knew that Mayhem doing a straightforward black metal album would end up being one of their better albums since DMDS, it's honestly better than Chimera, and a massive improvement over Esoteric Warfare and Ordo Ad Chao
The new Cattle Decap will be out in a couple of weeks. If you and Brad don't do a "no beef tag team review" for it, I'll fly to Canada just to slap you with a block of tofu !

@@DragonforceSCGS last I check he hasn't said anything shitty, or anything at all which in black metal is sadly preferable, need we remember when Varg started his TH-cam channel after being mostly silent since getting out of prison?
@@dumahdrummer654 Abrahadabra, someone on a metal forum posted a pic of it when a lot of us where questioning why they'd name an album that if anything sounds more Halloween and childish then anything.
Did this album actually come out today? All the pre-order sites say NOV 6 or 8 and non of the record stores I checked have it. Is today a Euro release?
This weekend has some heavy hitting albums. Mayhem, Hour of Penance, Fit for an Autopsy, etc. With all the other good stuff coming out next month, 2019 is finishing strong!
**Kill** ha ha ha Anyways. I love this album. It fits so well with the old school "black" mixed with a clean sound. I've listened to it 3 times already. I really enjoy this album.
Chimera is probably my favorite Mayhem record. The riffs sound like Blasphemer was listening to a lot of King Crimson went he wrote them. I'll give this album a try.
I might actually get a review out before these guys for a change. I was racing home from work, and you guys didn't review rings of saturn! YES. good review
Sanskar Wagley Thanks for the heads up. I can’t keep track of new releases. I usually find what’s already released. Been waiting for the new Mayhem for months now. Pure torture.
Unfortunately the problem with that album is that it's so messy. The core new elements of what were different on that album are good, unfortunately there is still a remaining 50% of the whole production which is just unlistenable filler. Short: The style is incredible, but the substance put on the album is only like half of what a healthy runtime should have been. The core good parts are awesome, but few and far between.
It's nice to see the presenter finally delivering on his complete absence of any musicianship himself, as a Canadian, with judgements upon Europeans. It makes sense.
Great review! About the lack of "rewind" guitar moments I'd like to add: there's some Euronymous missing here. I think he was the one driving the band to a more "riff oriented" sound. I also miss these great guitar moments with heavy riffs, something that pops up among all the other generic black metal sound stuff. Sure it's a great album and a big improvement if compared to the last ones. Maybe the best post-Euronymous effort. But it still misses that euronymous guitar thing...
Black Metal isn’t about riffs and solos . It’s about over all feel and message . You can’t lump it in with all the other kinds of metal where that kind of stuff is pretty much standard.
Weird observation that I have no idea is worth anything: the two shout outs at the end of the video will only be seen by folks who watch the whole thing. I say that because any cruising this channel who isn't into Mayhem won't see those recs and I'm wondering if there is any way to make them more "visible" so folks might have interest? Again, it's a weird observation and I have no idea how it could be done better aside from putting them into the title card.
Quality edutainment as always Blayne. Are you going to join with Gowan again to tag team the new Leprous which drops today? I feel like I need to get your take on all the new AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHs, which Leprous really excels at.
Please add Jinjer to the albums we missed list. I am not complaining one bit about Mayhem being reviewed this week. I can't do that because I was one of the Shadow of Intent complainers and I have only earned a one album per year complaint limit on Banger.
