@ZachMathe Finding a Pianoette is challenging. They were all built starting around 1916 give or take 5 years. There is an article on Wiki about them. They are rare, and finding one that doesn't need work is even rarer. One went on eBay for $25, and another sold for $40 on some other auction cite. Definitely an odd, but appealing instrument, especially with Basia playing it.....
this is actually a pianoette, for all of those who are wondering what the instrument is. the autoharp is a chorded zither and, as you can see, this has no chords. however, it belongs in the zither family with the autoharp. :)
Great to hear / see someone actually playing this antique instrument today. What place is this? I see lots of other "obsolete" instruments hanging around.
i always love basia but damn i double-love this !! that thing (autoharp? dulcimer? custom something-or-other?) is slightly out of tune and it adds the most gorgeously haunting noire weight to the song - uberbravo!
Actually, the instrument is a Pianoette. similar looks, but the hammered dulcimer uses two hammers and doesn't have that bar contraption she's using with her left hand.
I love how the video is edgy and moves around showing Basia playing and singing and her instrument and even the beautiful room full of instruments. This video is art.
I watch this video every few months. Whenever I feel like feeling :,)
this is my favorite version of this song, i feel it best captures the essence of the song. it is so hauntingly beautiful
She is quite honestly the most beautiful woman ever. She inspires my own music so, so, so much.
Spellbound each time I listen to this.
pleasant to watch as much as hear- between her skill with that instrument and the smile on her face
Just. Beautiful, beautiful music
This is so beautiful. So talented...
Your voice, as your face, are very sweet! Congratulations. I was there in 2010, and the magic of the place was evident!!!
Basia we are proud of you!
Cheers!

Great artist. Great video. Thank you!
Please, dear, do you know why this fantastic and magical place doesn´t exist anymore?... :(
nice song and you have a great voice
The instrument is in the zither family. I can't remember the exact name though. That's gonna bother the hell out of me now.
When I saw her play last week she called it a hammered harp. Hers was made in 1915!
i'm in love
Love it!
yay!
I believe it's a hammer dulcimer. I've never heard anyone play it like this. But no one sings like Basia either.

@echopractic No, it's an autoharp. A hammer dulcimer is very different.
UWO!!!!!!
I love you.
@buddyholly28 where can i get one of these???
im looking all around on google and cant find anywhere that sells them
Good question. Have you found one?

Could someone tell me what time signature this is in?
It's a pianoette. It's a pretty little instrument :)
I believe it's actually a hammered dulcimer, an equally beautiful instrument :)
Actually, the instrument is a Pianoette. similar looks, but the hammered dulcimer uses two hammers and doesn't have that bar contraption she's using with her left hand.
@lehibooparis Yes, dear... I discovered it today... :(
Its also called a santoor i think
@ZachMathe I have absolutely no idea!
@InfernoplexTom no, she´s the best of the best
camera work is not fitting. i just want to see her and the way she smiles
