    I bought one of these and put a leather stroping belt on it to sharpen my knives and wood carving tools. Cool Chanel 👍🏻

    Awesome review! I'm definitely getting one. For those of us who work with metal, whether it's welding or shaping mild steel, we know how useful a finger sander can be.

    Awesome video! It helped me decide on whether I want to buy this tool or not to shave a little bit off the top of our old door (without having to remove the hinges). It's quite a handy little gadget. Thanks again for the demo.

    THANKS! The instruction booklet does not explain at all how to de-tension and re-tension the sanding belt. I just got mine for sanding down spot welds on a car I'm restoring but now that I have been able to check it out I think I will have a lot of uses for it.

    Glad I found this video ... the Wen manual is missing the instructions for tensioning the belt with the release button. In fact, the release button on my Wen was hidden under the dust collection duct. at 3:57 you show exactly how to release the tensioner.

    Thank you for doing this video for us! Very well done.
    This video was the second return when doing a Google search, for a video review on this tool.
    I have come to see if maybe you had any additional 'hacks' that you've learned to do. While having had this tool for a while. Mainly, I want to see if anyone else has bent out one or both of those small 'sheet metal' belt backing sections. Giving the user a little deeper slack belt area to use. I have been wanting to see someone else do it, before I went to bending on mine!
    : - )
    One tip I can give, about bumping that variable speed switch accidentally, when using this WEN 6307. I found that I had a wide rubber band on hand, that fit snuggly over that switch while in use. Both covering it up and helping to prevent accidental bumps, and holding down on that dial at the same time.
    Also, to save wear and tear on my WEN 6307, and to help keep from using up more of the belts that I keep on hand for it. I do all of my 'outside of the tube' deburring, with a 3" roloc disc sander.

    i got mine from amazon yesterday i'm stoked to use it on some weld spots on a minibike frame i'm working on , yeah the grinder limited and my stationary sander no way . i went back in on amazon and ordered the assorted belts which will come in handy.

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. Have you tried to use it for remove paint from metal fence?

      No I haven't, I don't think this would work very well for paint removal. I would definitely want something with more power.

    I bought one labor day weekend. I've used it every day. It's a go to. Variblespeed. If ya wanna remove material speed it up. If ya wanna do finer sanding, slow it down. The dust port works well with a shop vac. I give it a double thumbs up. Worth the money!

    Thank you for making this video. I was just wondering if this tool would be good to get rid of rust on a hitch reciever? It looks like it would be the best tool for the job but I'm not sure. Since it doesn't cost that much either, it seems like it would be the best tool to get for the job.

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's only lightly rusted I would say this would do a pretty decent job. Might be a little slow going. If the rusting is really bad with pitting I would definitely get an angle grinder with a wire wheel attachment.

    Cool tool! Have you used it to grind corner welds? What’s the lowest grit paper can you get for it? I just rescued an old truck from under a collapsed barn and might tackle restoring it and this tool might be handy. I posted a video digging the truck out if your interested.

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For tiny little corner welds, yes this would work fairly well. There's a wide range of different grit types for these belts I haven't looked at them all. And yes I'll definitely check it out!

    the only problem is no tracking adjustment.

    • @steelforestweldingandforge
      @steelforestweldingandforge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely correct there is no tracking adjustment dial. Thankfully it hasn't been an issue this sander seems to run very true.
